hey! i saw your message about the scioly study buddies thing and it's super cool! i'm an officer of my team so i literally get thrown into whichever event doesn't have enough people, but in the past i've done astronomy, optics, and herpetology.

Hi Cia! :) How do you make studying enjoyable and fun? Do you have any tips or things you say to yourself (affirmations) that help you enjoy your studies? How do you overcome slumps?

Hi! Sorry in advance this will probably be a long answer! 

I try to make studying more enjoyable by: 

Starting my study sessions with planning, because I love planning and it gets me motivated 

Having a nice tidy study space, lighting a candle and turning on my aromatherapy diffuser and fairy lights 

Always staying up to date to minimise stress and keep up my motivation, and it also really helps to know that I have a set amount of work to do and then it’s over … rather than feeling like I could carry on working all night and still have more to do 

Watching youtube and Netflix while studying if the task doesn’t take too much thought e.g. copying up notes or making revision cards

If I have an assignment to write I like to go to coffee shops to help me focus but also the nice drinks and cosy atmosphere make it easier to work for longer

I learn most of the material for my exams using the matching game on Quizlet, which doesn’t feel like hard work but really helps me memorise things 

I wouldn’t really say I have any affirmations, but the thought of being up to date and then allowing myself to relax is enough to keep me going, so I guess I remind myself of that when I’m feeling demotivated, and think about how much better I will feel the next day if I’ve already done the work.

Also, I do most of my work in the mornings so I can relax in the evenings.

To overcome slumps:

I tend to watch those youtube videos of people having a ‘life reset day’ or ‘get your shit together day’ for motivation and then try to do the same myself. 

I usually find that if I stop thinking about studying and do all of the other things that need doing: laundry, washing my hair, vacuuming, making healthy food, my skincare routine etc. that once I’m done my mind is clear and I feel ready to study again. 

Watch ‘study with me’s if you need to study but don’t feel like it.

The idea that if you tell yourself you only need do one simple 5 minute task, by the time you’ve done that you’ll probably want to carry on, really works. Try that. 

Try studying out of the house at a coffee shop or library where you can’t just sit in your pyjamas and watch Netflix

↝ Science Olympiad Study Buddies

Hey everyone!

I know Science Olympiad season is finally beginning to kick off, and this year I wanted to know if anyone would want to be virtual study buddies! It’d be cool to organize a group of people off of SciOlyBlr who maybe have similar events, as it’d be a neat was to make friends and support each other in our events!

i’ve actually never done anything like this before, but i love studying and was inspired after years of looking through the studyblr tag to give this a go! this community is always so kind and it’s genuinely one of my favorites, especially with my love for school and studying. before i begin to properly post, here’s some more about me:

- i am currently 14 years old

- i’ll be going into high school in the upcoming school year

- i’ve participated in regional science olympiad since 6th grade, mostly medical based competitons

- my dream career field is pharmaceuticals with double minor in history and korean / chinese language and my dream school is ucla

- i love journalling, collecting stationary, k-pop and reading / writing

- i use unconventional ways to decorate my journal

- my hogwarts house is ravenpuff (ravenclaw house, hufflepuff patronus, hufflepuff-equivalent ilvermorny house)

- favorite subject always has and always will be science

- i’m a big meme and will not hesitate to give me all of my love fully expressed in memes

Let's all remember that time I was REALLY CLOSE to predicting how the V route would go

My thoughts on a route for V

Now, I’ve seen this being debated a lot through out the Mys Mess community, so I thought i’d toss in my (unneeded) thoughts on the matter, mostly because V is overall my favorite.

Starting off, think the probability for a V route at the moment is low. Not to say I don’t think we will get one, I just think it’ll be incredibly different from any route we’ve went through before. I actually do think somewhere down the line we will get closure for V, whether in the form of a DLC mini route or, like the Deep Story, an ‘Alternative Story’ that will need to be purchased with HGs. However, seeing that now when a route for V is in high demand, it’s been begging some thoughts I have on the topic of what it’d be like, and i’d like share them and see others opinions.:

I think we need to consider how drastically different V’s perspective and involvement was within story, and how that will affect a normal route. So whenever Cheritz decides to make one, it’ll be a very inconsistent route overall. I think that any route we get for V that follows the story like all the regular route’s do will end up all together being a much deeper story than 707′s; mostly because of V’s overall involvement with the deeper plot line.  

And I think if they decided to make V’s route alternative it could be even harder, I think it’d be a complete 180 from the original context; unless they decided to time it in the aftermath of the original story. Which considerably will be a challenge after the affects of the 707 secret endings in an overall fit to make everything make sense and appeal better.

You don’t have to agree with this, these are just my thoughts on how I think a potential route for V would happen, I might update this or do an entire other blog post about it together, I just wanted to put this out there as something to theorize on or for anyone to talk about and or consider. I’m open to any comments on this so feel free to send them in.
