Just a quick HI! as there's a few new people here since the podcast started.

I'm Jo (she/her), 27, from Sweden. I was never one of those (really impressive people) that translated the Skam clips in real time when it aired, but have done lots of cast interviews, primarily posted on twt, since 2017.

With all the ai nowadays I'm sure the robots could churn out a decent product much quicker, but I LIKE doing this. As someone who doesn't write, paint etc, it's been such a nice way to get the contribute to the fandom. So I'm really thankful for all of you for continuing to support fan translations <33

There's three episodes coming out next week (phew), all about season 3 and as I'm sure that's what's most of us are the most excited about I'll try and be as quick as possible.

just finished s2!

they finished with the next season focus once again.. lovro you have some work to do but I alr know his season will be so interesting

it was little disappointing to not have Nora in the final clip, although I recognise it was a handover of sorts I still missed not sharing our final moments of her season with her!!

this season was generally done really well - I saw some complaints abt the disconnect from reality with the cinematography but I honestly thought that added to the isolating and fear Nora was feeling in that episode. SRAM does out of body moments like that so well anyways that I always found them more fascinating rather than disrupting to the plot!

I LOVED the eva development subplot. The best I’ve seen for sure, maybe even surpassing the og in terms of s2.

i do think the shortened time once again limited sram, especially in the Tina/nora moments. It felt like Tina’s reaction and her eating disorder plot line were resolved too ‘cleanly’ in order to understandably focus on Nora’s storyline. Maybe how chill she was with roko and Nora was meant to be a sign of her character development, but this wasn’t shown on screen so that’s more implied than anything. Also the omission of the people need people scene, but I’ve already gotten into that.

They were doing a better job of avoiding this in the first half imo, but as the plot became more complicated I believe they had to sacrifice some scenes which disrupted continuity at times.

I did really love the Nora roko interpretation - one of the best dynamics I’ve seen, that was refreshingly different from the og. I liked them more in the beginning than I did nearer to the end, but they were still cute throughout!

The Sven confrontation was an AMAZING change that was actually so satisfying. Especially nora shoving a drink in his face which was acc hilarious. I loved the girl squad supporting her too.

Onto the next season!

Sara taking a picture of eva happily looking out of the window in the s2 finale directly parallels the teaser to s1… where she felt alone and the train was a reminder of her sadness, but now she can be alone and at peace with herself before even realising Sara is there

the way sram has developed Eva’s story is actually so amazing to me, to create a full circle moment like this that signifies her growth as a person but also her ability to mature compared to her past by rekindling connections she thought she couldn’t regain is so heartwarming

unpopular opinion but my measurement of how good a skam s2 remake is is whether they include their own version of the “people need people” scene - if they skip it, that immediately shows what aspects of skam they are prioritising, and tbh they’re not the aspects that made me love the og so much to begin with
