the great thing about human pet guy is that he has such notoriety that no one in the notes needs to go “hey it’s human pet guy” for everyone to immediately recognize him
I’m not even going to try and figure out why justsomeantifa has me blocked but I can almost bet it has to do with some pomo moral spook bullshit.

““The bottom line is that saying there are differences in male and female brains is just not true. There is pretty compelling evidence that any differences are tiny and are the result of environment not biology,” said Prof Rippon. “You can’t pick up a brain and say ‘that’s a girls brain, or that’s a boys brain’ in the same way you can with the skeleton. They look the same.” Prof Rippon points to earlier studies that showed the brains of London black cab drivers physically changed after they had acquired The Knowledge – an encyclopaedic recall of the capital’s streets. She believes differences in male and female brains are due to similar cultural stimuli. A women’s brain may therefore become ‘wired’ for multi-tasking simply because society expects that of her and so she uses that part of her brain more often. The brain adapts in the same way as a muscle gets larger with extra use. “What often isn’t picked up on is how plastic and permeable the brain is. It is changing throughout out lifetime. The world is full of stereotypical attitudes and unconscious bias. It is full of the drip, drip, drip of the gendered environment.””
— Men and women do not have different brains, claims neuroscientist - Telegraph (via ronmarks)

Stalin was really bad. That’s why it’s really impressive that every single American leader has been exponentially worse.

1940. The US-Canada border was carved right through several pre-existing Native properties, dissecting the tribes of the Iroquois Confederacy. The Indian Defense League staged this protest in 1940, objecting to the US federal classification of First Nations people as foreign aliens.

Extremely Cursed Earth AU:
The USSR won the Cold War and Lin-Manuel Miranda writes a revolutionary-era musical about Trotsky instead of Hamilton that ends with the ice-picking. There is a ship war between Stalsky and Lensky.

One of the biggest mistakes that mainstream liberal organizing has made (particularly in liberal/progressive religious contexts) has been to lose sight of nonviolence as a tactic and instead conceive of it as a moral imperative. Tactics develop, evolve, and change over time as they become known and circumvented by counter-tactics. Nonviolence in the civil rights movement was a tactic that juxtaposed the state’s (and rank-and-file white people’s) brutality against motionless and non-aggressive black bodies, specifically in the context where camera crews were documenting things the police weren’t used to having be documented. In that context, the tactic found success.
Modern interpretation of nonviolence as a moral imperative, on the other hand, does not allow room for development. The belief is that we must practice nonviolent resistance because it is right, not because it works. And that interpretation is the thing keeping people from realizing that the context has changed and nonviolent resistance doesn’t work in the same way. The state has learned how to manipulate and circumvent it as a tactic, but liberals are too married to it as a moral point to notice.

I think we can all just admit the early 20th century was a really fucky time wherever you look in the world, and looking up to FDR or Churchill or Stalin just ‘cause they fought the nazis or Chiang Kai-Shek just because he fought Imperial Japan is probably not a good idea.

Broke: Stalin was bad on account of all the mass murders and stuff
Woke: Stalin was bad because he didn’t support Palestine.
The Stalin did Nothing Wrong Brigade are usually anti-Zionist and often pro-LGBT rights and they somehow don’t see the contradictions there.

When cis people talk about how trans women were treated outwardly as boys growing up and how that shapes our experiences early in transition it's almost always some weird discourse about how trans women early in transition act too much like men and for that reason don't deserve solidarity from other women as women, never how, early in transition, we face for the first time the constant misogyny that will follow us for the rest of our lives and are completely unprepared to deal with it, and therefore need solidarity from other women as women. How difficult trans women are will always matter more than our safety.

pro-capitalists: no one's forcing you to work, unlike under communism.
someone: I can't find a job, good thing I don't have to
Landlord: This is your notice of eviction, since you haven't paid your rent
someone: I thought I wasn't forced to work?
pro-capitalists: You're not forced to have an apartment, either.
Someone: *lives on the streets*
Police: you're under arrest for vagrancy.
Someone: I thought I wasn't forced to have an apartment.
pro-capitalists: it's not an apartment, it's a cell.
Warden: by the way, we're forcing you to work

Liberals think that not completely demonizing U.S. enemy states and occasionally saying positive things about them means saying “everything is dandy.” That’s why their political analyses are worthless.
