I love your post-game idea for the Emperor, so headcanon-wise, when he rebuilds himself, does he upgrade or change his design, or does he stick very much to his original look?

He would try to stick to his original design because the image of the Emperor still holds a lot of weight in the intergalactic consciousness (also because he's vain), BUT because he's either poaching parts off other robots or just using whatever he can get his hands on in the pirate market, it's a poor facsimile of his original design. It's not nearly as sleek and well-put-together as he once was, but he doesn't see that as an issue, because he plans to rebuild once he returns to power.

Whether or not that ever actually happens, though - well, that's to be seen, even if it isn't really a question of if in his mind, so much as when.

I’ve been thinking about it, and I’m pretty sure I know what the difference was that let Emperor Nefarious take over. It was Qwark. Even if most of Qwark’s battle’s with Nefarious were…embellished, their interactions make it clear that they did happen, and Qwark did win, and it’s been stated multiple times by several people that before Ratchet and Clank got involved he was the only hero who could win. So in another life, where the Solana Galaxy’s “Greatest” Hero became a pirate instead, Nefarious’ early career goes unopposed. Instead of being the result of a miraculous survival, his robot body is likely one he designed himself, without the glitches and health problems and gangly features inherited from his old organic form. His early foothold lets him take out competition like Drek and Percival, and gains their holdings with that, so a certain Warbot-Zoni hybrid doesn’t go defective in time to properly meet their partner.

All because Quantum’s love of adventure and fame led him down a different path that Qwark’s did. Honestly I think the Emperor would have lost his mind even more than he already did if he’d looked past his ego and noticed the difference
