been trying to write this with mixed success, but some current unconnected bits of dialogue that I've got featuring our fav duo: serial killer x ex-lover

Uni days!!!

this is an idea I've been trying to fit somewhere in the au, but essentially somewhere along all the lighthearted shenanigans the quartet get up to, they eventually stumble upon the circumstances behind Sejanus' death

only got a few lines so far...

Androcles felt nauseous at the discovery. For the thought was sickening, that the man who now proclaimed himself as Sejanus' best friend was the same one who'd sent him to the noose. The evidence was unmistakable. And as he glanced around the room, he found the others coming to the same conclusion as him. `` "It could be a clever forgery." A half-hearted excuse at best. The words tasted like lead on his tongue. Clemensia shook her head. "He penned it. Look at how he dots his 'i's. That is his hand, I am sure of it." "So what do we do now?" asks Urban. When they glanced at him, he added, "I mean, I don't feel right leaving this buried. If not for us, for his sake. Even if we weren't his friend." "But this will not absolve us of our past behaviour," says Felix quietly. At that, a silence fell among them.

Nero & Endymion blurbs for that one au where clemmie is lost in district 4 -- previous thoughts

PRE-DISCOVERY

"I'd hate to impose," is what Endymion says when he turns down an invitation to stay for dinner.

`

Endymion Dovecote was a liar.

A good one, but not good enough to fool Nero. Years of friendship had ensured such. He can see it in the man's eyes, the way they said what he would never voice out loud - that he is unable to stand the sight of Persephone, for it reminds him far too much of the daughter he should have by his side.

`

Nero reached out for his friend's arm. "You would never be imposing."

"It's getting late."

"Persephone has gone out with her friends," he says. "Won't you stay a little longer?" It is easier this way, to have her out when Endymion is around. Does this make him a bad father?

DISCOVERY OF A DAUGHTER

"And what if she is not–"

Nero can see the gleam in Endymion's eyes and without a second thought, he lunges for his friend, holding him back from attacking President Ravinstill.

"How dare you? That is my daughter," hissed Endymion, futilely trying to escape Nero's grasp.

Not that he would allow Endymion escape. For Nero feared if he loosened his grip by the slightest of fractions, his friend would commit treason without hesitation.

POST- DISCOVERY

There is a lightness around Endymion that Nero has not seen in some years. The smiles that came so freely and needed little coaxing to appear.

Envy does not begin to describe what Nero feels.

“Clem, why is he with you?” The disdain was clear, and there were few people who could elicit such a reaction from Felix. So without poking her head to glance at the doorway, Iphigenia already knew who else was at the door. Androcles. 

“My options for getting home were rather limited.”

Iphigenia had no idea what to make of those words.

“Sweetheart, you’re so cold,” came Androcles’ voice from the front hall. “Is that any way to treat your savior?”

“Shut it, Anderson. All you did was drive her home from the mall.” 

“Which is more than you did.”

“Excuse me?”

As the bickering between Felix and Androcles picked up, Iphigenia’s curiosity piqued. Why had Clem let him drive her home? It was Androcles after all, who had taken their break up with the grace of a bull in a china shop.

Rising from her cozy spot on the plush armchair, she padded along the living room and into the corridor towards the front door where she found Clemensia, Felix and Androcles. There were a multitude of paper bags on the ground – evidence of a trip to the shops. “You let him drive you home?” she asks, as the bickering continued, complete with hand gestures now. 

Her friend shrugged. “It was that or walk in the pouring rain. I waited nearly an hour, Nia. None of the taxis I called came.”

“You could have called one of us.”

At that, a flush bloomed into Clemensia’s cheeks. “I didn’t want to be a bother. Besides, he was in the area.”

Iphigenia resisted the urge to sigh. Stalking her again no doubt. Not that Clemensia would believe it. Sometimes her friend could be all too oblivious.

This was not the first time Androcles had managed to weasel his way to being by her side.

And although Clemensia had been adamant months ago that they were done for good, her heart wasn’t as decisive, wavering when the man was around. And by the fates, did he know what strings to tug on.

“You wouldn’t have been a bother, and I’m sure Felix would say the same.”

“I suppose.”

She took Clemensia’s hands in hers. “When we said that we’re getting through this together, we meant it. So next time, call. Alright?” It wasn’t till Clemensia nodded that she released her hold on her hands. “And what of the bags?” Given how they were by Androcles’ feet, she was sure he had carried them up from his car. 

“He offered to carry them up, so who was I to turn down his offer of manual labour?”

Been thinking about Sejanus lately… and maybe it’s for fic reasons, but what are your thoughts on a Reaper and Sejanus friendship? :)

OH MY FUCKING YEEES. U don't know but that's an agenda heavy promoted in sejarcus babes circles (my mutuals). Vicó, Jay and I, we are actually into shipping them too LMAO 😭

But talking about friendship. Usually we visualize it happen as a consequence of sejarcus and Marcus & Reaper befriendism. I can recommend grace's fics (@sadalmostlesbian) she write a tiny interaction between Sejanus and Reaper very adorable.

U can check to Jay's blog (@sejarcus-archive) because they have post a lot about the friend group which include Sejanus and Reaper ofc. I ask too their and vicós help for the list.

Now let's start.

We think they would get along EASILY. This may change of course in a more canon compilant thing because I feel Reaper can be more deserved and quiet towards Sejanus considering Marcus distrust attitude (I mean if he's acting like this. He must have good reasons for) but still I can see Reaper having some sympathy for him like look that's a sad puppy 😭

Now if circunstances allow they talk and interact it wouldn't take them much to like each other. They share a lot in common that's the be firms about their beliefs, be compassive and kind persons but ready to act and take risks. Also when Sejanus its not acting all depressive he's very talkative and funny, traits I can see Reaper share.

Both would have same type of humor, and they can bond quickly by teasing Marcus with jokes since hes more grumpy than them and PROBABLY they both can quote from memory spongebob episodes along Gumball ones. They match each other in a way, its a good mix, since Reaper wouldnt judge Sejanus anxiety and may found the way to tell him things so hes not piriling (relevant again under the sejarcus thing bc its like sejanus insane asking if Marcus hate him and Reaper boink him in "no, hes just busy, calm down") but it can be translate in other instances, vicecersa, we talk a bit how Reaper sometimes can say things out of pocket lmao or that others misunderstood him and Sejanus would get what he mean and its like "nonono he mean this." About the friend group, we think too Sejanus its like Reapers's defender n.1 every time Jessup got mean with him, and probably they would get the best outfits from everybody (not that the rest dress bad, but like marcus its tiptoe too closer to strabos informal infernal style and jessup slay but always in a country way, he got his boots).

Finally got around to making this one about Clemmie and Pup in conversations over tea.

Sure it's a marriage of convenience, but the thing is, they're friends who understand each other quite well. So I imagine them having a rather smooth sailing marriage, instead of some act that ends when the doors close behind them. They still share a bedroom. They're fond of one another even if it isn't in a romantic sense. Partners supporting each other's endeavours.

Only Clemmie would end up in a marriage of convenience like this 🙄 -- Coriolanus, probably

And would they end up having children? Probably.

Calais:

A toddler that they 'acquired' after a trip to 4. Nobody really knows what that means, and they're also a bit hesitant to ask, given the Dovecote crime family rumours. 

Set to inherit the Harrington and Dovecote name, and whatever holdings might come with it.

Side note: imagining the Capitol elite are typically alright with adoption, but that it's rare to adopt a child and name them as heir instead of designating them as a spare / for alliances with other families. (Cleopatra is an example of this)

And of course, shoutout to Sirius, the dog they started raising in the fic. (To them) he is their eldest haha

thoughts drifting to Clemmie and Reaper... where she calls him (qīn ài de or 親愛的) often translated to dear or darling, but the thing is, Reaper doesn't think it's an endearment. At least not in the traditional sense. To him, it's sort of like he'll tell her how 'strange' she is.

Doesn't help that Clemmie never gives him the same answer when he does ask. "It means 'you're being mean to me'." Or something like, "It means you should have given the last bite of chocolate to me."

So he thinks it's a teasing comment she gives. He does, however, react to it far more often than he'd ever admit.

Clemmie lost in a crowd: qīn ài de...come back! Reaper: *immediately turning around to look for her*

In 11, people think they're sort of adorable. And probably chalk it up to an eccentricity of the Capitol. But in the Capitol, while some may find them cute, I think it would also get a different reaction. Maybe something like:

What did you do to her? Witchcraft? Blackmail? How did you get her to so blatantly flirt with you?

Meanwhile Reaper is like: ??? Flirt ???

If it were not for the pit's influence, Jason might have attributed the throbbing in his temple to a massive hangover.

Cleopatra's older brother is a funny guy in my mind. Because yes, this is the guy, who at 8 years old, asked if they could return Cleopatra if he didn't like her after a week.

But when she's in her 20s, it's more along the lines of: you're going to be taken advantage of by dating an older man!! (in reference to Hector). / Isn't he younger than you? / The point still stands!!!!

The siblings, Alexander and Cleopatra, have an age gap of about eight years. Hector is older than her by about 2-4 years. (undecided on their ages tbh)

Also, listen. I think Cleopatra is doing more of the (purposeful) seduction than Hector is. Seduction success rate often varies...but it's not low either!

ie. that one time Cleopatra kept talking about possibly getting a back tattoo. Cue Hector painting one of the designs on her back so she could see whether she wanted to commit to it or not. Seduction-wise, it was a fail. But she did get to show off his artwork, and get him to do it a few more times over the course of their relationship.

Scene 6:

Bobbin is trying to talk Dill out of searching the entire forest for Reaper. It’s illogical, you know? And what if we also get lost?

Also, Treech’s attempt at optimism may have won Dill’s ire instead. Whoops.

`

Returning to Reaper and Clemmie in the forest… After she stopped crying and calmed down, they decided to work together to figure out how they’re supposed to get to the carnival. Originally, they were both walking, albeit at a slow pace with Clemmie’s sprained ankle. Then Reaper was like… umm do you want a hand? Which led to: 

His first offer was piggybacking her - but like she’s in a mini skirt. So yeah, that’s not happening.  

This went to being princess carried. No, Clemmie is NOT blushing. It’s just a really warm night. Or it must be Reaper’s jacket that he so graciously lended her to wear so she wouldn’t accidentally flash anyone.  

They’re having a decent conversation while figuring out how to get out of this forest. Sorry (not sorry) Coriolanus, Reaper hates your guts. 

Reaper, in a more teasing tone: My question still stands, who wears heels to walk in a forest? Clemmie, indignant: I wanted to look pretty for tonight! I thought he was going to ask me out!! But we all know how that turned out… Reaper: Well if it’s any consolation, at least you can still check off looking pretty.  Clemmie: You think I look pretty? 🤭 Reaper, panicked and stuttering: Umm. Yes. I mean like, who wouldn’t?? That’s a pretty silly question if you ask me. Clemmie: Of course, of course. 😊

Scene 7: Sejanus is having a great time. May have just had his first kiss with Marcus while on the ferris wheel. Second kiss too. He remains oblivious to the chaos going down between his classmates. Probably for the best.

Felix is LOSING his mind. While he’s not the world’s greatest fighter, he’s very passionate about his best friend’s safety. It’s not looking great for Coriolanus once he admitted Clemmie sort of stormed off. “It’s been hours and you only think to tell us this now??” Threw hands before being restrained by Pup. Pup may or may not have loosened his grip. Accidentally, of course.

During this, Clemmie’s phone runs out of battery while they continue navigating. RIP. Then again, it’s not like she has cell service, or she’d have seen the missed texts and calls from Felix, and now other friends.

Scene 8:

Featuring Bobbin’s half-hearted attempts at stopping Dill from attacking Treech. Just in time too, Reaper and Clemmie finally made it out of the forest!! And when Reaper introduces Clemmie to them, the rest of them are all thinking of something along the lines of: Reaper, how? Only you would get lost in a forest and come back out with a pretty girl in your arms.

Clemmie’s ankle isn’t that badly sprained that she needs to be carried anymore, but she does like to lean against him as they stand there. For support, obviously. Reaper is oblivious. 

Dill was very nice to lend her phone - unfortunately Felix didn’t pick up because he was busy throwing hands. And it was an unknown number. She did leave a message though. 

Since Clemmie doesn’t know that her friends are panicking, she ends up hanging out with Reaper and everyone else while she waits for them to get back to her.

Scene 9: Sejanus (and Marcus) finally stumbles upon most of his classmates losing their minds that Clemmie is out in the woods, lost. “Clem, oh, I saw her earlier. I think she was in line at the haunted house with some guy.”

Felix has never looked or felt more relieved in his life. Very dramatic reunion with Clemmie.

BONUS — After parting ways, Reaper finds Clemmie’s hair clip in his pocket of his jacket. How’d that get there? Coincidentally, because they exchanged numbers, he texts her about it. And because it’s her favourite hair clip, they’ve agreed to meet up soon. 

thinking of a modern au recently... where things eventually go pretty well for everyone except for a certain blond. 

setting: a carnival that requires walking through this forest of sorts

warning: umm it’s Coriolanus.

Scene 1: 

Clemensia and Coriolanus walking there. In this universe, they sort of have a are they-are they-not dating vibe. Clemmie secretly thinks he just might ask her to be his girlfriend, because he said he had something important to talk to her about tonight. (Her friends ranged from supportive (Lyssie) to being: Alone in the woods with him? I think you’re gonna get murdered tonight, Clem. Please put this airtag in your bag. (Felix))

Unfortunately for Clemmie, the conversation of  “I’ve been thinking of my future and…” goes in the direction of him talking about how pursuing Sejanus would do wonders for his career. Clemmie is blindsided by this as he goes on and on about how his career needs this. 

“So you were stringing me along?” / “Clemmie-” 

Crassus Snow is still dead. The Snow family financial status is pretty similar to tbosas

Here Coriolanus is thinking about how the status and finances of a future partner can help his future career in politics. Yes, the Dovecotes have that. But the Plinths are wealthier, even if they are part of the Nouveau Riche. 

While Dovecotes can boast a place amongst the old families, there are old families that are more ‘prestigious’ such as Phibbs, Ravinstill, Heavensbee etc. Also her family prefers to keep their names out of the papers - both for privacy and other reasons. So her family’s status doesn’t help much in his eyes. 

(If you’ve ever seen Legally Blonde where Warren breaks up with Elle, I’m imagining those vibes.) Clemmie storms off deeper into the forest despite him calling her back. She refuses, and afterwards he doesn’t follow after her because she’ll calm down eventually, right? Everyone knows how stubborn she is, it’s not like it’s his fault that she ran off on her own.

Scene 2: 

Reaper lost in the woods. It’s getting dark and he’s getting annoyed. RIP to chances for calling for help. Little to no signal.

Scene 3: 

Some time passes and most people have arrived. Most people get placated with Coriolanus’ excuse that she went to get some air. 

Coriolanus is trying to look for Sejanus. Where is he?

Felix arrives later, but when he comes across Coriolanus without Clemmie, he asks after her. He’s also extremely suspicious when presented with such an excuse. He’s texting and calling her, checking her location. Why isn’t she picking up?

Elsewhere, we've got Dill blaming Treech (and Lamina by extension) for Reaper's absence. If they hadn't been all lovey-dovey and late to meet up with Reaper, then he probably wouldn't have decided to set out on his own and gotten lost. Bobbin wholeheartedly agrees, because it's Treech and yeah, Dill is making some good points.

Scene 4: 

Meanwhile back to the forest, Reaper, who has been wandering in circles, FINALLY, bumps into someone. Unfortunately, this someone is in the middle of a crisis. Clemmie is NOT having a great night here. First, there’s the whole thing with Coriolanus. Now she’s lost. She’s twisted her ankle and her phone doesn’t work. What a great night. 

Reaper: Who wears heels in a forest? Clemmie: *bursts into tears because this is her last straw* Reaper panics.

Scene 5: 

Sejanus who’s reconnected with Marcus, they haven’t talked in years. Coriolanus is the last thing on his mind. 

While he’s having a good time at the carnival, we’ve got Felix needing to be held back from committing murder. He has NOT been able to contact Clemmie and has now been convinced that she’s probably dead in a ditch somewhere. Dramatic? Yes. But he is worried. 

Even if the truth does come out, Felix is still ready to throw hands. Because what do you mean, you let her storm off into the forest? ALONE??
