Man bets on Sir Lewis Hamilton to win F1 championship while he was still karting

Richard Hopkins bet £350 on 13 year old Sir Lewis Hamilton after seeing him race against his son in karting. A decade later, this decision earned him £165.000.

He first got £40.000 from a £200 bet (at 200/1 odds) that Lewis would win a grand prix before turning 23. Then he won another £125.000 from two more bets: £100 (at 500/1 odds) that Hamilton would win the World Championship before 25 and £50 (at 1.500/1 odds) that both things would happen.

Hopkins’ priority was to use the money to pay off his mortgage. He also said he planned to buy a Tag Heuer and take his family on a trip to Cuba.

Ladbrokes, the betting company, said this was their biggest payout ever for a motorsport bet (2008)

All I as a grown woman see in that picture is a little boy, how does one's mind go to anything remotely sexual? Can you imagine the (justified) outcry if a man wrote this shit about a teenage girl, lord have mercy. The internet girlies aren't exactly known for keeping it classy as is evident in most of the drivers' tags, but I can't help but feel like Lewis bears the brunt of it. It feels so icky to me that they're constantly reducing him to this odd playboy daddy image they've created in their minds, where anything he does is hypersexualized, from chewing gum to playing video games, having emotions or speaking to literally anyone with a pulse.

Coincidentally, I actually read an article today where a black man talked about how dehumanizing and off-putting it feels to constantly have everyone he dates or talks to assume his sexual preferences based on the fact that he's a muscular black dude. Can't help but feel like the same probably applies to strangers relating every breath you take to your sex life to the point of them projecting their fantasies onto your child self. Yall are weirdos, seek help honestly.

Being able to recognize Kelly is a weirdo for getting with a 17 year old Max and then turning around and calling 15 year old Lewis these names.

Post any photos of the other drivers at that age(they all looked like babies, and so did Lewis)and see if it flies. You draw your own conclusions from this.

And yea they're all being SO normal about it.

TeamLH loves calling Lewis a slut so much they’ll push it all the way back to him at 15 ~ a child ~ being kissed on the cheek at a karting event and say “look what my man was doing, he’s always been for the streets.” He was not your man and he was not for the streets?

He was a kid. Just a kid. It’s not funny, it’s not cute. It’s exhausting and disturbing. He deserved to just be a child. The constant sexualization for laughs on the internet is… a choice

anyway you should always remember that all those foreigners you see dying on the news are just as real people as you are who have just as much interiority as you do. there is nothing about you that makes you more important and it is by pure chance that you are not in their position. in fact, this holds for all of history. every person, no matter the horror of the fate that befell them, had just as much interiority as you do. i feel like some people haven't fully internalized this.
