Meet Me in Malmo
11 posts
Haj! I will be moving to Malmö for my Masters in Interactive Design. I think this is a big jump considering I left cozy and warm Florida. I am so excited for this new chapter that I decided to blog it for a bit.

Luckily i got side tracked on the way back from Emporia and got to beautiful bike paths in Malmo. I really enjoy how everything is so green and peaceful. Even when lost i find a way to be relaxed. I also managed to find the route to Ikea!!
I am also sorry for the bad video sound. I will make sure I have a video editor soon so I can make it all very pretty and cohesive! I was just to excited to be able to bike and record at the same time. A week ago I could barely lift my hands from the handle bar in fear of falling.

Nom nom interactive lectures and free beer and popcorn :)
Malmo is such a great city. Filled with a lot of workshops for design. I am so glad one of my classmates introduced me to Media Lab and Foo Cafe where they have all of these lectures about advertising, marketing and design innovation. It is such a creative atmosphere and it definitely inspires me to want to do awesome things with new technology. Yay for loving interaction design!

So this is how it goes...
 - To get a bank account in Sweden you need a personal number and a swedish ID card. (I am lucky enough to have a personal number because I was born here)
 - To get a Swedish ID card I need to be registered in Malmo.
 - To be registered in Sweden you need your Residence Permit.
 - To get your Residence Permit you need a phone number to confirm your appointment.
 - To get a phone number you need a personal number and to be registered in Sweden. (unless you pay as you go)
So confusing!! So I had to get a prepaid phone, get my permit and hope it gets here soon enough that I can register asap. I also need all of the above to start my Swedish classes. *sigh. Such a mess. I am starting be a regular in the local tax office!! :)
I used to complain about the US social security number. You can all laugh at me now.

So I drew this about a month and a half ago. I thought this would describe exactly what I would live in Sweden.
I now know that I should have a big question mark above my head for all the times I have been lost and a sweater, other than that the drawing fits quite perfectly. :D

Delicious treat for a long day of walking. Nothing like cookies in bed after getting to know my faculty building, many wonderful people and getting lost in the bus. :D

Good Morning Malmo!!
My first night in Malmo. A bit jet lagged but most of all super excited to go explore it all day long. The only thing I can say about my flight here is ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK when your flight is leaving. Thanks to my confusion I almost lost my flight and therefore forgot half off the stuff I needed. It was a hard first day but I look forward to being a bit smarter about flying from now on.

I thought it was good to start a new chapter with the end of another one. I do not like to say goodbye because I do not believe it is the appropriate term. Today is my last day as a Designer at InPlace Marketing. So this post is dedicated to the awesome team I worked with for the past 2.5 years. Thanks to them I have grown, learned so much and can handle my beers a little bit better. During my time here I not only worked with great people, in a crazy environment but I was also challenged as a designer. I will remember the break room events, the need to call “HR!” once in a while, Mean girls, the New Bitchin’ box, and many more stories that made InPlace an awesome adventure. Thank you all for having patience to guide me and shape me into a better designer. I wish you guys the best of luck. I know you will do great. Keep up the good work and have some beer fridays for me! I will miss you all!
