Hey everyone, I know it's going to be a busy day for a lot of people, but Google enrolled everyone over 18 into their AI program automatically.
If you have a google account, first go to gemini.google.com/extensions and turn everything off.
Then you need to go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini and turn off all Gemini activity tracking. You do have to do them in that order to make sure it works.
Honestly, I'm not sure how long this will last, but this should keep Gemini off your projects for a bit.
I saw this over on bluesky and figured it would be good to spread on here. It only takes a few minutes to do.

In 2005, a group of artists in Italy built a giant 200-foot-long plushie rabbit in the countryside, and just left it there. It’s been there ever since.

I’m making this post on the behalf of Sami and his family. Fundraiser here.
Sami says:
"A simple picture, yet it holds a powerful meaning. Tell me what did you understand, and what will you do? 'I understood that these children are in urgent need of donations, and I will donate. I will also share this post—it might help in some way. This image is full of sorrowful meaning, and I will do everything I can for these innocent children. I will donate so that they can go to school, eat clean food, and sleep in peace.' This is exactly what is happening right now with me and my family in the heart of Gaza. Please, donate—share—speak up. Don’t stop. We are between life and death. Don’t leave us behind."
Please do anything you can to help, any engagement is appreciated even if you cannot directly give to the campaign. Thank you so much <3.

i strongly believe that it's better to take aspirin of a known dosage than to take some willow bark with an unknown amount of active compound that could also just be sawdust from an unrelated tree. like that's just factually correct. medical science is real and the supplement industry is an unregulated nightmare of mostly scams. but. the thing is. if, in order to get aspirin, i had to schedule an appointment where i tell my doctor that my friend said i might have a headache (because i can't just say i have a headache without being treated like a googlemad hypochondriac). and then the doctor nodded and ordered a bunch of expensive tests that have very little to do with my head and a lot to do with the size of my ass. and the tests all came back fine so he shrugged and asked if my head hurt and when i said yes he prescribed me some aspirin while emphasizing he didn't know if it would help but i could give it a shot if i really wanted. and if i had to do that every time i wanted some aspirin. i would probably start eyeballing the willow bark. to be perfectly honest with you.

it really is insane how little you hear about "america has the world's highest prison population by such a significant margin that it would be seen as excessively over-the-top if it was used in fiction"

no animal was harmed during the making of this video. not one. for the few minutes that we were shooting film, the guns of each hunter fell silent. the industrial bolt throwers observed a moment's peace and the jaws of every predator hung softly open. no fish bit any hook and the bait worms held off on drowning only until the cameras stopped. the tails of ruminants ceased to flick just as their attendant flies, in unison, landed on their flanks to catch their tiny breaths. a spider instantly stopped winding silk around a wasp, patiently waiting for the caesura to end. a young veterinarian paused with the syringe in their hand. somewhere, a colicky baby stopped biting its mother's nipple and nursed happily for the very first time. we're sorry. we're sorry it couldn't have been longer. we didn't know this would happen.

everyone wants to retrofit their childhood into something bigger, more mysterious than it was. the ephemerality that is childhood cannot simply be accepted as a time that slipped by before you were cognizant enough to better understand what was happening. you miss how much more simple things were compared to now, how newer everything felt, but you can't reconcile how it wasn't necessarily better. and so, you invent a fiction: the monotony of doing worksheets under fluorescent lighting for hours was the outermost layer of a dark, magical reality. the parts of childhood you like retain their approachable familiarity while the rest is obfuscated by a fantasy "offness". nostalgia is sometimes described as a yearning for a period that didn't really exist, a period encoded into your memory a particular way by your evolving senses, but this strain of youtube video can only be described as a kayfabe of nostalgia in how many people seem to be coming together in hopes that by insisting that childhood was like this, that it makes it true. I want to know what would happen if you blindsided the 19 year old target audience for these playlist videos with shellac.
