Ruthe is an OC that was made for @megaflora-zenith a story that both @duck-in-a-spaceship and I are working on!

I'll be honest, I've never drawn anything like her before, but I think she turned out pretty well despite that :3

I don't think this'll stay. Might wait until the crew gets a little further in their journey to add this exposition in. But sometimes it's nice to think of the little ways the crew will act when it's their downtime.

Sometimes you just need to shoot a pirate. Or pistol whip a pirate. I mean the gun's already out, so you might as well do something with it, right? Maybe try throwing it?

This is 5TR1P W1R3, or just Wire for short, who is the sharpshooter and medic for @glacierruler and I's crew of space pirates!

Wire was originally made for a caretaking/nursing job, but grew to hate this role the longer they had to endure it, until they eventually ran away. To fully lean into this change, they removed most of their smooth, friendly plastic paneling to revel the mess of wiring and motors underneath, although they have kept some to protect more vital areas. Wire can only communicate through various beeps and trills, and the only person that can understand and translate for them is the engineer on board who is... just the sweetest and doesn't want to pass along half the shit they say. Trying their best to be a serious pirate amongst all the shenanigans. Big fan of getting to shoot things, not really enjoying the fixing people part.

Kolgo

Captain (they/them), decided to take a hard turn to piracy after being accused of a thievery they didn't actually commit. Slightly insulted by the implications they were a criminal and FAR more insulted at the implications they would do such a shitty job, they fled their home planet with Ruthe and started on the not-so-grand life of piracy. Genuinely skilled in various criminal pursuits (enough to spring from jail and start a pirate ship, at least), but in the dark when it comes to any of the practicalities of running a pirate ship. Makes up for it with enthusiasm? Used to work at a museum, and was framed for a heist that happened while they were on duty only a few weeks after being hired in the first place. From the same low-gravity, megaflora environment as Ruthe, and adapted similarly, but with silvery-black fur that makes speckled patterns on their body, the same large brown eyes, and slightly longer limbs.

Bahn

Bahn is the engineer of the ship, primarily responsible for keeping them all in the air, and secondarily responsible for all things Wire.

The nicest pirate you will ever met, but he kind of stumbled into crime as teenager and just kept tripping. Started small, by stealing off of the ships he was working on, and then before he knew it he was running a shop doing illegal modifications on ships and jail breaking bots. Funny how life works out. Ran his shop planetside for a couple of years before meeting Wire when they were still employed, and later helped modify them once they made it out of their job. When Wire heard about a pirate crew that was hiring, he decided to join them, antsy about being caught by the law after staying in the same place for so long. He a wife at home, and is not divorced but he definitely should be! He hid his illegal side work from her for a while, and their relationship has been rocky since she found out, but they had problems before that. He's always been, above all else, married to his work. Human man, darker skin, short cropped facial hair, wears brown overalls covered in patches, and a pair of fancy sci-fi glasses that often hang around his neck on a chain. Honestly just having a very weird midlife crisis.

Nish

Nish is an orphan and stowaway aboard the Megaflora Zenith. Her only jobs are learning anything from everyone on board, and not getting killed in the process.

As a young child growing up alone on the streets, Nish jumped at the first opportunity she had to catch a ride somewhere new. She lived on the ship for a couple weeks without being noticed, stealing food and sneaking to the bathroom when needed, but mostly hiding in the walls and vents of the ship until she was finally discovered. Originally from a desert planet, she has big ears that stick outwards from her head to help regulate body heat, and a small, slitted nose that can close up to protect from sand. She speaks very little of this world's international trade language, and ends up mostly communicating with the crew through gestures and body language until she can pick up more. Has a fake little pistol given to her by Ruthe and a small but very real dagger from the captain themself. Very curious, and interested in learning more about pretty much anything and everything.

Overall it doesn't fit the characters we have in our heads. So it's got to go. But it was fun writing this.

5TR1P W1R3, or just Wire for short, is the sharpshooter and medic aboard the Megaflora Zenith.

Wire was originally made for a caretaking/nursing job, but grew to hate this role the longer they had to endure it, until they eventually ran away. To fully lean into this change, they removed most of their smooth, friendly plastic paneling to revel the mess of wiring and motors underneath, although they have kept some to protect more vital areas. One of these pieces is their chestplate, which is covered in stickers and scribbles. Their face is a matrix of exposed LEDs, and they have a thin, spindly appearance without the paneling. Wire can only communicate through various beeps and trills, and the only person that can understand and translate for them is the engineer on board who is... just the sweetest and doesn't want to pass along half the shit they say. Trying their best to be a serious pirate amongst all the shenanigans. Big fan of getting to shoot things, not really enjoying the fixing people part.

Ruthe

Ruthe: Pilot (She/her), started the pirate crew with the captain after both of them were framed for something they didn't do. Her involvement only having happened because she was visiting her partner at the museum while this happened and everyone in the investigation thought her showing up then was suspicious. Ruthe agreed to help the captain out, in an attempt to see her family again. They ended up having to leave the planet, but she did get to say goodbye. Since then she's been doing her best to find ways to communicate with her partner and son without putting anyone in danger. Adapted to a low gravity, megaflora environment. She has a large membrane from her arms to her legs that allow her to glide in her home environment from tree to tree. Has rich brown fur that covers her all over, while still being more human in posture and hands. Also has large brown eyes.

Megaflora Zenith

Info: This blog is for the Space Pirates story that @duck-in-a-spaceship and @glacierruler are writing!

Setting Info: Solar system containing a variety of inhabitable planets. Interplanetary travel is advanced and commonplace, but the realm past the system is relegated to research vessels and anyone who doesn't want to return.

Story Info: Those on the ship, Megaflora Zenith, are starting out their criminal endeavors all for different reasons: a love of food, a hatred of children, unserved divorce papers, and most importantly of all, the need to prove a fucking point.
