i love Kinich and Kachina. what i love about them the most is that you have Kinich; he's cold, pragmatic, and not the first person you'd come to for a conversation in a room filled with much more approachable people. Then you have Kachina, who takes after Mualani, is earnest and sweet and overall just a good person to be around.

So why does Kinich have the most radiant, soul-catching, like-a-sun-setting-in-the-forest, heavenly, hypnotising eyes in existence, while Kachina stares at me like she wants to swallow me whole. Like if I look to close, I'm going to fall into an endless pit of nothingness and despar. Why. Eyes are the windows to the soul, until it comes to these two, apparently.

Natlanese don't fear death in the sense that they are surrounded by it every hour, that they are living in it now and will die in it later, that there are people waiting for them whether awake or asleep, and there is no eternal god to lead them home but there are thousands of souls from the past, present and future, who will do it themselves.
