Are you curious about the soon-to-be-released Johnny Mullins Collection, Volume TWO? Here’s a video slideshow crafted by Rick Vaughn of Greenfield’s South Town Studio with track snippets, photos from studio sessions and pics of lyrics and cassettes from whence a few songs came. This legacy project features several songs from a female perspective that highlight Dad’s skills as a people-watcher and intuitive songwriter… some heartfelt and others downright sassy. Every song has a story and we’re excited to set the lyrics and melodies loose for you to hear and feel.

Volume Two!!
I’ve been guilty of website abandonment, so sorry. Other than updating shows, I haven’t added content since 2018, oh my! Well, I’m baaaaaaack and I have news. The Layton Hollow Gals trio (consisting of Melinda Mullins, Betsey Mae and Emily Higgins) are fresh out of Barak Hill’s Mid-Americana Sound Studio with a 14-track album of The Johnny Mullins Collection, Volume TWO! Two, baby, two! I dug deep into the shoebox collection for most of the new/old songs on this project and we three gals are thrilled with the way it turned out. We have some gorgeous mellow tunes, but I also threw in some toe-tappers to keep it balanced. Did you know I’m a Libra? Yep, it’s all about balance. The release date is right around the corner, wahoo!

Hi everybody! Check out this video for a fine song written and produced by Rick Vaughn. Even in the year 2024, Johnny's humble songwriting success story still makes an impact. Mama Peggy and I are thrilled and full of gratitude for this tribute. (Click on "Read More" for the video)

We’re excited to debut the new Layton Hollow Gals with a Pal trio! Johnny’s songs really shine with the addition of pedal steel, banjo and Gravy’s other tricks of the trade.

It’s a lot of fun playing with these Layton Hollow Gals, and we look forward to sharing more songs from The Johnny Mullins Collection in trio format in the future. There’s a private house concert scheduled for the first of September, and an acoustic candle-lit show in Warrensburg, Missouri in October. You can find out what we’re up to on the “shows” page.
