Purple Rain
Note: This fanfic is not mine! This was made by the lovely R.J! ♡ I really do hope you enjoy and feel the same happiness as I did while reading!
Running through the heavy rain, shivering as Doppio accidentally stepped in a puddle, splattering water all over his purple jeans. The man had forgotten that this evening would be a cold rainy night. Of course, he had checked the weather beforehand. Thinking he’d get home before that period. Unfortunately, he had a meeting that took a little too long and now has to run back home in the freezing weather. Raindrops dropped from the pink-haired man’s face down on the sidewalk.
He’d surely arrive back drenched. It wouldn’t be surprising if he was sick the next morning. Even if he took a steamy, hot shower and made himself some chamomile tea, the closest thing he’d get was a stuffy nose and sneezing a ton. Sprinting through the street. The route home felt a lot longer than usual even if he was running as fast as he possibly could. Growing tired, his legs were about to give out. Needing a small rest even if that heightened his chances of turning ill. He’ll still get sick so why does it matter?
Bright lights illuminated a nearby bus stop, which was dry and could protect Doppio from the rain for a temporary moment. Sighing in relief, the man took cover and sat on the seat. His pink hair was stuck on his forehead due to his head and body being completely wet, and messy across his forehead. He sneezed, shivering as the cold temperature still lingered around him. Holding his drenched suitcase on his lap, gripping its handle tightly. Sniffling, he didn’t know how long he would stay covered by the rain. Wishing he was home now.
The weather didn’t seem like letting up at any moment. And waiting till it gets a little calmer seems impossible as it got heavier and heavier the more he stayed. Bouncing his leg and tapping his foot on the ground, stressing out. Praying that a miracle might happen, he didn’t care what it would be as long as he could get home safely. Even if he’s currently sopping wet. Whether it would be the rain stopping or just the temperature outside being warmed, he didn’t care at all.
It seems to be Doppio’s lucky day, as his wish got answered. In some way.
Hearing wet footsteps from his left, Doppio glanced over to see a pedestrian with an umbrella and a small jacket. They stopped near the bus station, looking at the pink-haired boy. They stared at each other for a brief amount of time. The man with the umbrella spoke up. “Are you okay, you’re very cold and wet. You’re taking shelter right?” The purple-haired man assumed correctly when Doppio nodded his head. The pedestrian smiled, meaning no harm to the poor man. Closing his umbrella and stepping under the bus stop for protection. The small metal bench didn't have room for two people, so he had to stand.
“You’ll be sick after this. I can't imagine you coming home and not falling ill.” He joked. Doppio laughed softly in response. “Yeah, would be a miracle honestly. Reporting in sick when you're sick is horrible…” Sighing in disappointment. “Well I wouldn't mind taking care of you if you're sick, I love helping people.” The purple-haired man stated. “Oh, I did forget to introduce myself, didn't I? My name is Melone.” He stuck his hand out for a handshake with a soft smile. Doppio hesitated a little before giving him a shaky hand. “Nice to meet you Mel-” Before he could finish his sentence, he sneezed again, turning his head away to avoid sneezing on the stranger. Melone pulled away in shock, startled. “Sorry! I didn't do it on purpose!” Doppio apologized, panicking. While Melone just shook his head. “It's okay, it wasn't intentional. Plus I'm wearing gloves anyway.”
The pink-haired man sighed, ashamed of himself even if he was assured it was fine. “My name is Doppio…” He introduced himself. Praying this won't make it a lot worse or awkward. “Nice to meet you, Doppio. You are an unlucky one huh?” Melone giggled. He does have empathy for the boy though.”Staying here won’t make it any better, I should be home as well.” He continued to talk, staring at the empty streets as the lamp poles illuminated. The shops were closed and the interior looked like a ghost house and the street lacked its usual activity and felt a lot more abandoned.
Doppio looked down. “Yeah, but getting even more drenched would surely result in me getting sick. Well- I'll already turn sick but I don't want it to worsen!” He complained, not angry at the man he just met. If anything he was more worried about himself. Imagining the days going by and him being stuck in his bed all day. Sure that sounded very amazing at first, however, Doppio prefers to be doing at least something other than binge-watch the latest series or movie franchise and falling asleep to take naps every so often.
Melone frowned. “I can always walk you home.” He proposed his idea with gripping the dark purple umbrella. Willing to help the man not get soaked further when they’re walking together to his house. Doppio looked at him with surprise, denying the fact something unbelievable like this would happen. Wanting to accept it badly, he still had second thoughts, especially about the well-being of Melone. “Wait- Wouldn’t that make your walk back home longer as well? M-My home is only 8 minutes away from here so I can just run again, right?” Doppio came up with an excuse to let the man walk on his own. While clinging to the fact he’d love to accept the suggestion.
“I don't mind a small walk in the rain, I'll be fine.” Melone opened his umbrella again, glancing at the man. “So, let's go, Doppio.” Insisting the man should follow him so they walk down the street together back to Doppio’s home. Holding the umbrella and stepping out the bus stop, covering himself with it. Doppio was still hesitating. It was either running through the rain for 8 or more minutes, or safely walking home with the stranger he just met. In the end, he accepted the offer. Gripping his suitcase tightly, walking towards the stranger as he was now covered by the umbrella, smiling awkwardly.
The two men walked along the street in silence. The only sound around the two were the wet footsteps of them walking, the rain drizzling on the umbrella and the slight wind brushing against their face. It made Doppio shiver. Staring down at the sidewalk. He was getting sleepy, especially since he had been worn out the entire day. Due to his subconsciousness, he didn't realize he was about to step into a puddle. Melone pulled him a little closer to make sure he didn't step into it and drenched his pants and shoes. “Careful where you step, you won't be lucky again.” Melone spoke, skipping over the puddle with the man. “Thank you…” Doppio thanked the man, wondering how he had so much patience.
The walk back felt a lot more comforting. Especially since he wasn’t getting showered by the rain, although it was still extremely cold. Internally planning to go take a warm shower and cover himself with a ton of blankets in hopes of somehow not becoming sick the next morning. Sniffling the snot back in his nose, he’d maybe have a stuffy nose, but that’s the least of his worries. He rested his head on Melone’s shoulders subconsciously. Making the man stop in his tracks, a little confused. “Are you okay, you’re a little sleepy, huh?” The purple-haired man questioned, bringing his hand up to caress Doppio’s wet hair, making him snap out of his sleepy trance again, backing up slightly, just to get a few raindrops on his head before Melone stepped closer to cover him again. “It’s okay, I don’t mind.”
Doppio’s face went a little pink, not knowing if it’s because of embarrassment or Melone’s kindness and patience. Nodding again. “Sorry again, I’m just- very tired…” He laughed at the end of his apology to not make it too awkward. Blinking a couple of times. The other man just shook his head. “It's alright, you don't have any harm. It felt quite nice though, even if you're completely wet.” Melone was expecting he would be resting his head on his shoulder again, sadly he didn't do it. Maybe because it had to do with trial and error, or it was purely embarrassing for the other. A little disappointed.
“You know, I don't like walks in the rain, but this time it feels fun...” Doppio confessed, scratching his head. Being with Melone felt a lot comforting. “Sure is.” Melone agreed. This felt pleasant. “Is it maybe because you aren’t walking alone and I can keep you company?” He assumed. In his own opinion, he did feel special for walking with Doppio, nevertheless, Doppio could have a different feeling about it. “Well- Yeah, it is enjoyable.” Doppio admitted, correcting Melone’s assumption. It made him feel very pleased. “I enjoy it too…”
The two had chattered and walked a long way, until Doppio realized the street they were in. His apartment was nearby. Disrupting Melone while he was talking by pointing at an apartment building. “Sorry for interrupting you but- I’m already home now.” He told the man. It made both of them disappointed that their interaction ended so quickly. This was probably the quickest 8 minutes that Doppio had experienced, maybe because he was having fun. The pink-haired man stared at the building, a little uncertain. “Hey, I’ll walk with you till you get inside.” Melone told him, with Doppio being comfortable enough to accept it and walk with him to the entrance of the building.
Doppio rummaged through his pockets for his keys, eventually finding them and opening the door leading into the apartment in general. Holding the door open, he gave one last glance at Melone. “Thank you again. Your name was uh…”
“It’s Melone.”
“Yeah, thank you Melone. I hope we’ll get to see each other again…” Doppio said his goodbyes to the man as he entered the apartment, the door closing in front of Melone as he saw Doppio run up the stairs. Leaving footprints of his shoes on the stairs. Stepping back and watching up from the apartment, where he could see Doppio on the fourth floor running to his apartment and finally entering it. Looking down, a little sad it ended too soon, but then again he’d hope to see him again some day. Walking the opposite direction back to the busstop.
The way back was a lot more lonelier for Melone.
4 days later
Doppio looked out the window, he was on a bus heading over to the city to do some errands for the boss, considering his boss was a pretty anti-social guy, and also to keep his identity anonymous from the public. These days felt a lot more quieter, although he loved the peace and quiet, ever since he met Melone he’d miss that feeling of being close to him. Especially since Doppio doesn’t know anyone besides his boss and a couple of co-workers from Unita Speciale.
Unfortunately, Doppio had indeed fallen ill for 2 days, mostly sleeping the entire day and consuming warm food and drinks to help him get better. These days were terrible for the man, knowing he’d have so many errands to fulfill. Though he was surprised to hear that Diavolo spared him and just ordered him to do the grocery shopping today. Crossing his arms, he was nearly at the city. Which was also somewhere near the place he met Melone.
The bus stopped for a brief moment as new passengers entered the bus. He didn't pay attention to them, it was none of his business as he continued to stare out the window. “Excuse me, can I sit here?” A familiar voice rang behind him, Doppio turned around to indeed be met with who he had expected to see. It was Melone, his eyes widened. The two stared at each other for a brief moment. Although Melone, didn’t seem to recognize him. Maybe he already forgot about him? Or it was because Doppio decided to have his hair loose today. “Oh!- Sure.” He looked away, refraining any sort of eye contact from the man. Melone thanked him and sat down. Was this a coincidence? Did Doppio make this a little too awkward and should’ve he just told Melone it was him?
“Hey, Doppio.” Melone elbowed him. “You do remember my name, right?”

Intro!
Hello! ♡ This blog is dedicated to the non canon ship between Melone and Doppio. I decided to start it, since no one else seemed to like the ship! I also ship a ton of other rare pairs, which may or may not have content. I hope I can make at least one person like this ship, as it is very dear to my heart ♡. I will be posting fanart, edits, and fanfiction on this blog!
This blog is STRICTLY sfw! I will NEVER post nsfw here, not even any suggestive content! Nothing here is meant to be inherently sexual. I do NOT allow proships or any of that sort in my blog as well. If you ever want to ask any questions or suggest things about MeloDop, I will be more than happy to answer! :) Feel free to ask/submit your rare pairs as well, I love to hear about them! (as long as they are healthy/non problematic). I mainly focus on La Squadra rare ships though, and Golden Wind in general! Oh, I really hope to hear from people! I will be posting soon, I promise!
-xoxo ♡, Owner
