Doom trying to warn the trio of danger and them not listening to him is kind of similar to how he tried to warn Endon and he didn't listen to him.

Sometimes Jarred almost forgot that he had ever had another life. It was as if his time at the palace had been a dream.
Ironic. Then he literally forgets his other life when he becomes Doom.

Jasmine has to have a grudge against Tora and the Torans. Not only did the Torans breaking their oath result in her family living in the forests, but the person who took them to Tora for the first time was Dain, the Ol she used to have feelings for, and he even resembles the Torans since he pretended to be descended from them. And Jasmine has a hard time trusting people in general.

Behind him stood Jasmine, her hair wildly tangled. Her left hand was held up protectively to where Filli hid under her jacket. In her right hand she held her second dagger — the one she usually kept hidden. Its tip was stained with red. She was frowning fiercely, looking back along the hallway. Lief followed her gaze and saw that a trail of red drops marked the floor all the way to the corner. “Good! I thought I had drawn blood, but I was not certain. That will teach them that we are not easy marks,” Jasmine hissed.
You literally stabbed YOUR OWN FATHER

Same, I ship them so hard. I love their friendship. They're so cute together.
I still don’t know what would be funnier Evan and Andy as shitty teens or shitty adults in a weird not-romantic marriage that’s like a mormon version of kin dating.

Hades' brothers reacting to Nico
Poseidon: Poor, poor child. It's hard enough having Hades as a brother.
Zeus: Really, I did him a favor by trying to kill him all those years ago. It'd be more merciful than being Hades' son.
Hades: Oh, shut up!

I ship Evan and Andy so hard
"And you're stupid," she called back playfully. "Hey, Annnndreeeea- wait up!" he called, stretching the name out to annoy her.
Ah, preteen flirting.
"Go see your girlfriend. She's a pretty one," Kathryn said.
Kathryn ships it.
"Hey -- what's going on?"
Evan raised his eyes past the two hulking boys to see Andy speeding toward them on her bike along the curb.
She’s his knight in shining armor.
Tony started to add something, but Andy interrupted. ''Well, leave him alone."
Yeah, picking on him is her job.
She checked her leg to see if it was cut. It was just scraped.
She literally scraped her knee falling for him <3
"No need," she said quietly, brushing back her dark hair. "I'll get it back. They've done this before. They'll leave it somewhere when they're finished."
She knew it’d end with them stealing her bike again if she intervened, but she still did it to defend him <3
"Let's go upstairs," Andy urged, pushing him toward the stairs.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Shipper goggles? Yes.
"Go ahead. Taste it," Andy urged, poking the can in his face. "I dare you."
"Huh? No way. I double-dare you," Evan said, pushing the coffee can back to her.
"Double-darers have to go first," Andy insisted, grinning. "Go ahead. Taste it."
They’re so adorable omg
"We'll pay them back," Andy said bitterly. "We'll find a way to pay them back. The creeps."
Tell them to stop doing your job for you.
Andy grabbed his hand.
Yes, more shipper goggles.
"I'd like to... uh... write to you," Evan said, suddenly feeling awkward.
"Yeah. Good," Andy replied, brightening. "And my dad has a phone credit card. Maybe I could get the number and... you know... call you."
Awkward preteen flirting <3
"I know. I know," Evan replied, rolling his eyes. "I just didn't expect to see you jump out of the hedge at me."
"Why not?" Andy demanded, her dark eyes exploring his.
What, you mean you don’t greet your friends by wrestling them to the ground?
"Thanks a bunch, Annnndrea!" Evan muttered. He knew she hated to be called by her real name.
"Don't call me Andrea," she replied sharply. She raised a fist. "I'll pound you.”
She really wants to pound him.
"Annnnnndrea," he repeated. He ducked away as she swung her fist. "You punch like a girl!" he exclaimed.
"You'll bleed like a boy!" she threatened, laughing.
they’re so cute I’m dying adiopfjasp
She laughed. "I love torturing you!" she declared.
That means she has a crush on you ;)
She carried the bag over to him. "You're peeking — aren't you!" she accused him.
"Maybe," he confessed, grinning. She punched him playfully in the stomach. He cried out and his eyes shot open. "What's in the bag?”

Nico: I might as well be covered in blood or sewage, from the way people treat me. I don't belong anywhere.
Zeus: I feel like I've heard this before...
Poseidon: Yes. For centuries.
Hades: Oh, shut up.

Nico and Percy are both savage at age twelve. Nico dares Hades to blast him, while Percy dares Ares to fight him (and pretty much talks back to every other god he meets as well). It must be a thing for Big Three children.

Consider: Hades being savage
Zeus: My lightning bolt was stolen!
Hades: That's a good thing. Now you can't try to blast children.
Poseidon: You better not hurt my son, Hades.
Hades: You should worry about Zeus doing that.
Zeus: *to Percy* So, to show you my thanks, I will spare your life.
Hades: Oh, now you refrain from trying to kill children? That's a change.

I love the idea of Hades and Demeter commiserating over being parents. Hades used to think Demeter was overbearing and controlling towards Persephone, but trying to protect his own children, he understood how she felt. He tried to protect them from Zeus, the same way Demeter tried to protect Persephone from him. I just like the idea of them understanding each other in that way, even if they don't get along.

Oh my god, SAME. Those books were my childhood. I remember Malory Towers with its four towers and swimming pool, Whyteleafe with the naughtiest girl and sharp-tongued Julian, Peterswood with clever Fatty and hot-tempered Mr. Goon. The way she ends the books with "Say goodbye to [characters]" or "Wait to see what they'll do in the next book" gives me feels. There are even several copies of them at my grandparents' house that are the original versions, not the sanitized modern versions that remove offensive language and corporal punishment references. I have so many memories and nostalgia for these books.
Who here on this hellsite grew up on Enid Blyton and not Harry Potter? Who grew up on The Famous Five, The Secret Seven, Amelia Jane,Malory Towers and St.Clare’s instead of Hogwarts and the golden trio and the houses? Who grew up on goblins, pixies, Moonface, Saucepan Man , midnight feasts and Mamzelle along with Darrel and Felicity Rivers and the ‘O’ Sullivan twins instead of Harry, Hermione or Ron? Who here remembers spiteful Gwendoline and sharp-tongued Alicia? Or fiery Carlotta and Joker Bobby? Who remembers Faraway Tree and the wonderful lands on the top? Who remembers Lacrosse rather than Quidditch? Or the Naughtiest Girl with her temper? Amelia Jane’s antics instead of Harry and Ron getting in trouble all the time?
Anyone remember children being sent away to live in the countryside and getting into all kinds of shenanigans with fairies and talking animals? Or getting sent to boarding school where you met some of the greatest people and laughed and cried with them? Or George Kirrin who refused to be called by her real name “Georgina” which she dubbed “too girly” and cut her hair short and wore boy’s clothes? Or Scamper the Dog and Dopey from Those Dreadful Children.
The amazing meals that every book seemed to hold. The plays that Doris put for us and the pranks Janet and Bobby played on poor clueless Mamzelle. Those short stories with bullies getting put in their place and animals preparing for winter. Those stories filled with mystery and excitement and the exasperation you held towards Jack’s sister Suzie was unparalleled. Holiday House and the adventures there.
Sorry I’m having Enid Blyton feels

Ponies as St Clare's girls
Since I did Malory Towers...
Rainbow Dash as Bobby Ellis. Both are tomboyish, fond of jokes and tricks, and often lazy and don't care-ish. Janet is also similar, but Bobby seems more tomboyish, so she's a closer fit. She also fits Margery Fenworthy and Mirabel Unwin, being tomboyish, sporty and a Jerk with a Heart of Gold like both of them. Ironically, she fits a lot of female characters here, when it's usually hard casting her as any.
Fluttershy as Gladys Hillman. Both are quiet, timid, have secret talents they're afraid to show off (singing/acting), and are close friends with someone more confident and outspoken (Rainbow Dash and Mirabel).
Rarity as Alison O'Sullivan. Both are feminine, concerned with their appearance and interested in fashion, and dramatic and prone to tears, but also good-hearted. I actually used to think Gwen was her closest match in the original MT books, before remembering Zerelda.
Applejack as Carlotta Brown. She was the hardest one to sort, and it's a bit of a stretch, but I'd say Carlotta is her closest match. Both come from "foreign" backgrounds that require a lot of physical activity (farm/circus), are fairly tomboyish, and are kind and honest.
Twilight Sparkle as Hilary Wentworth. Both are kind, responsible, trustworthy leaders who are usually the head of the group (Hilary is usually head girl).
Pinkie Pie as Doris Elward. Both ditzy, air-headed, humorous comic relief who make the other girls laugh. She's also similar to Claudine for the same reasons.

Ponies as Malory Towers girls
Because why not. They're often cast as characters in PMVs, and it was easy to think of parallels they have with Malory Towers characters, especially since it's about an all girls boarding school.
Rainbow Dash as Alicia Johns. Both are blunt, often harsh and insensitive towards others Jerks with a Heart of Gold, and fond of jokes and tricks. She also fits Alicia's cousin June, who is basically a younger Alicia. In fact, June might be a better fit, since she's also sporty and even becomes games captain in the Pamela Cox books.
Fluttershy as Mary-Lou. Obvious fit. Both are timid, quiet, easily scared, and kind. She also fits Delia Norris from the Pamela Cox books, with both lacking self-confidence and having a hidden gift at singing that they're afraid to show off.
Rarity as Zerelda Brass. Both are glamorous, concerned with their appearance, and "higher class" compared to the other characters, but also good-natured at heart. Zerelda even dreams of being an actress, like how Rarity is extremely dramatic. But if we count the Pamela Cox books, she's definitely a mix of Amy and Bonnie, with Amy's snobbish nature combined with Bonnie's talent at sewing and manipulative nature.
Applejack as Bill Robinson. Both tomboyish, live in the country, and have large families, and are honest and good-hearted. She also fits Jean the Scottish girl from the earlier books to a lesser extent, both being sensible, straightforward and brutally honest.
Twilight Sparkle as Sally Hope. The last two were harder to do, since none of the characters fit them as well as the above. But Sally would be her closest match, both being sensible, reliable and trustworthy.
Pinkie Pie as Irene. She's definitely the hardest to sort, since she's so over-the-top that not many characters resemble her. But both are ditzy, scatter-brained, and often a source of comic relief. She also fits Belinda for the same reasons.

Gwendoline has a problem with this as well in Malory Towers, but with much less subtext and more to show how shallow she is by befriending the rich and talented girls (and unlike Alison’s idols, they usually end up leaving her for another friend, such as Daphne for Mary-Lou and Clarissa for Bill). I loved how in Sixth Form, there was a first former named Joan who worshipped Alison the same way she did to others. Though that’s more of a big sister worship thing. Joan defends Alison from the other first formers and when she’s blackmailed to steal from the sixth form, she steals from everyone except Alison
Joan looked at Alison as though she were some kind of goddess and said shyly, ‘Thanks.’
‘What did the twins and Priscilla matter so long as her idol, Alison, liked her as she was?’
When Alison complains about being worshipped, the others are understandably helpless with laughter at the irony and her lack of self-awareness. Alison has a moment of realization as she thinks of all the girls she used to worship. I just found that so funny, much like Gwendoline Lacey becoming friends with one of the teachers who was nothing like the girls she used to latch onto in Goodbye Malory Towers (and there was a bit of subtext between her and Miss Nicholson…)
Ok I know I am definitely reaching here but cousin Alison from the St Clare’s books = homosexual behavior
Args I should’ve live-blogged this from the start! I was binge re-reading these children‘s books all week and I’m for the first time realizing how incredibly crush-like Alison’s behavior towards the woman and girls she’s obsessed with is - like yes she tends to like them for superficial reasons and the other girls rightly make fun of her for being a feather-head and always falling for people who turn out to be shallow and not so nice… but that she keeps falling for pretty girls in the first place? Over and over again, every book? No Heterosexual Explanation dot jpeg
It starts in the second book she’s in, Summer Term at St. Clare’s, with “her precious Sadie.” who’s quickly the only one whose opinion she values and the only thing she’ll talk about, as the other characters notice, “She's like a gramophone record always set to say" Sadie says. . . . Sadie says . . . Sadie says . .”, and it keeps going throughout all the books adsfg
Case in point:
- ‘Miss Quentin certainly was extremely good looking. She had black piercing eyes, and a beautiful voice. Alison thought she was wonderful.’ ‘The class disliked Miss Quentin's “dears” and “lambs” and other names-except Alison. She loved them’ and the ‘sugared words of praise she felt sure would drop from Miss Quentin's lips.’ ‘Alison loved to wear anything that even remotely resembled her beloved Miss Quentin's belongings.’ ‘She waited round corners for her, hoping for a smile. She hung on every word the teacher said.’ (About a teacher in book 4)
- ‘Fern blushed and Alison, looking at the pretty, dainty girl with approval, stepped forward. “Fern!” she said with her charming smile. “What a pretty name!”’ ‘“Well, Alison, I can’t understand what you see in Rachel, to be honest,’ said Fern in her high, pretty voice. ‘But as it’s so important to you, I really will make an effort to be nice to her.’ She smiled her sweetest smile, which a delighted Alison returned with one of her own. … Alison was content, and made up her mind to speak to Rachel later. Perhaps they could be a threesome after all.’ (Fellow students in book 5 - and yes I’m laughing at the use of the word threesome xD)
-‘Margaret was a remarkably good-looking girl’… ‘Alison said nothing, staring raptly at Margaret’s retreating figure’ … “Alison, don’t say you’re going to lose your silly heart to Margaret” (an older student in book 6)
- ‘Alison leaned over the banisters-and, just as the others had guessed, she immediately lost her heart to the new girl. “She looks like a princess from a fairy-tale,” said Alison’ (fellow student in book 7)
-‘She had graceful, dramatic gestures, which filled Alison’s romantic soul with delight’ … “Alison, you’re not going to lose your heart to her, are you?” … “Why isn’t Miss Willcox the right person?” said Alison trying to speak coldly, though she felt very hot and cross “She’s clever, she’s written the most marvelous poetry, she’s got a lovely deep voice, and she’s most picturesque-looking.” … ‘thought that their beloved Miss Willcox looked lovely with her dark soulful eyes flashing’ (about a female teacher in book 8)

If it's any consolation, there's another character named Violet in the Pamela Cox additions, a first former when Felicity's in the sixth form who's basically a mini Gwendoline Mary and is Daphne Hope's (Sally's younger sister who's a lot like Alicia) nemesis at first. Definitely not the same Violet, but at least that name isn't wasted.
Enid Blyton is so funny to me bc its either "only one character is allowed a personality per book" or "boarding school series where the main character is abandoned after three books in favour of introducing 2-5 new characters every term, so half of the characters there in the first books never show up again"
