you said we can complain about riordan, here's a complaint! the whole reveal about artemis' huntresses being "asexual" is when there's this older lesbian couple who left the hunt bc they were in love. up until this point, the hunters have been written as rejecting BOYS. they're also immortal and stay the age they are. what would have made sense would have been the couple leaving bc love has to grow, aging isn't bad etc which wouldve made thematic sense. but no, bc he's a bad writer, he couldn't.

One of my least favourite menwritingwomen things (not like I have a favourite lol) is when the male protagonist ends up defending women to his incredibly misogynistic female love interest like he'll be like "I want to protect women 😔." And she'll be like "all women are sluts who should die actually." And the male writer pats himself on the head for making a male feminist character and for ✨~subversively~✨making misogyny a thing women are responsible for.

just saw a man on Goodreads calling Mary Shelley "a privileged rich girl" – and yeah, no fucking shit? are you braindead?

most of the authors who wrote classic pieces were rich, from good families – but for some clouded, mysterious reason I have never seen a man using this as a single reason to dislike old male authors. and of course, there's nothing of the sort about anyone else on his profile. so this stupid, pathetic, illiterate little man felt terribly compelled to deem a novel which basically FOUNDED science fiction as irrelevant because Mary Shelley – born at the time where women were considered intellectually inferior – received a formal education from her father & mother. die.
