“Then I’ll have to say it a few more times, will I not?” he chuckled, doing the same to move a lock of hair out of his face. “I’m perfectly suited, and I plan not on changing anything,” he replied, the smile staying on his face. He always liked lighthearted conversations like this one - he didn’t have to think or worry during them, after all.

“Oh, I have been told once or twice, but I think I can stand to hear it a few more times,” Rosaline laughed, absently brushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear. “Oh, I’m sure your current lifestyle suits you perfect,” she laughed, brightly.

As he continued to watch, he heard Will ask him another question. He looked over at him, shrugging. “𝕴 suppose we’ll find out when we get there, yes?” He grinned. Verona was a big enough city - there was plenty to do, and if anything in particular called to Mercutio, he’d stop them there. So far, though, he wasn’t drawn into anything, so he kept walking.
The King gave a shrug of his shoulders. He wasn’t someone who was overly big on religion. He was raised to praise the Light and curse the Shadows, told of false gods of his own power, but the things that Albion citizens praised were Heroes, of which Will was one of the few left. “Where are we going?” He asked absently, looking out to the road ahead of them.

“𝖠s I said, I only speak the truth,” Mercutio smiled, looking over at him. His grin gained size when he saw the tint to his cheeks and the shine in his eyes. It always made him feel good to know that he was making someone else feel good. “𝖶ell, who am I to deny such a lovely request? 𝖡ut only if you’ll tell me more about yourself - I have no desire to speak of 𝓥erona all day - it gets much more tiring than you’d expect.”
He was more than happy to go out with Jehan for some coffee. Romeo and Benvolio were out doing who-knows-what already, probably with some girls whom he didn’t know personally and didn’t want to deal with. This would be a nice change in his daily routine, and it was one that he would gladly welcome. After all, who would turn down a cup of coffee from someone who was undeniably good-looking?
✧—”Sorry.” Jehan couldn’t help but feel the slightest bit awkward. Perhaps he had been a tad bit overzealous with his offer to give aid. It seemed as this feud wasn’t much of an issue to Mercutio as it would be to Jehan. Or perhaps the revolutionary spirit within him was just a little bit stronger after spending so much time with Enjolras and the other Amis.

✧—Despite the earlier mishap, it seemed as if Mercutio was still glad for Jehan’s company. Jehan allowed himself to loosen up, a nervous little grin on his lips. “You flatter me, monsieur!” he teased. But despite his bravado, his cheeks remained a bright pink. He was positively glowing and buzzing with energy. And Jehan wouldn’t be able to deny the slight fluttering in his stomach, unused to such flattery. “Please, mon ami, allow me to take you out somewhere. Coffee or tea, perhaps? If you’ll humor me, of course.”

“𝖄es, but fate and 𝓖od are two completely different things. 𝓖od is a higher power - a being. 𝕱ate just... is. 𝕱or example, what if you choose to sleep with someone who ends up stabbing you when you fall asleep? Fate.” He didn’t quite know the best way to make his point. He’d been raised to believe that fate had a hand in everything, no matter how small, and that God dealt with bigger things. He didn’t want to get into an argument about it, though - that was the last thing they needed at the time.
“I am not saying there is no such thing as fate, I think there likely is.” Although, he likely saw it very differently than most people. The blind seeress that forced him into believing that his brother was hell-bent on destroying Albion then cried that it was ‘fate’ and ‘destiny’ that he took the throne saw to that much. “I just think that fate has bigger issues to deal with, no time for something as small as a bedding–its the same as people who believe their god will grow angry at them for saying a curse word, any being of higher power has too much on their plate already to care about one saying fuck.”

“Do you know anyone who’s in a happy relationship?”
“Listen, if somebody gave me the choice right now to never see you again or to marry you, I would marry you, alright? And maybe that’s a lot of romantic bullshit, but people have gotten married for a lot less.”
“I’m gonna take your picture. So I never forget you or all of this.”
“It’s amazing the clarity that comes with psychotic jealousy.”
“People put you down enough, you start to believe it… the bad stuff is easier to believe, you ever notice that?”

“𝖂ell of course fate has to do with it. 𝕱ate has its hand in everything.” He pointed out, offended that it was even a question. Everyone in Verona believed in fate. It was the reason for births, deaths, and everything in between. “𝕱ate has its hand in luck, as well. 𝖄ou never know what a night could bring you, and fate has to do with all of it.”

Will glanced over at the man, his brow raising slightly. “You believe fate has anything to do with who you bed at night?” Will found the idea laughable. He saw a nights bedding as nothing more than that, a quick fuck–and, if it had ever been anything other than just that, it had been thanks to careful planning on his part. As a member of the Rebellion several years ago, he learned that sleeping with the right people could get you just about anything you wanted. “I believe it is simply Lady Luck, and nothing more–two people needing to release at the same time, that’s all.”

“𝖂ell, yes. 𝕸en are typically looking to enjoy themselves rather than search for your hand,” Mercutio agreed, shrugging as they walked. “𝕭ut both have their upsides. 𝕴 would not complain if life gave me one over the other any given night. 𝖂ho am I to argue with fate, after all?” He asked, giving a small shrug. Fate was much larger than he was, and if the stars had a man destined for him one night over a woman, he wasn’t about to try and fight it. After all, one night could change a man’s life forever.

Will chuckled. He found much of himself in the man that walked beside him. In recent times, after the sudden death of his beloved, Will found his satisfaction in the beds of other men more so than the bed of women. It was easier that way, he found–most men he chose to bed were not looking to call Will theirs, they did not come to him with intentions of taking his crown and reigning next to him like many of the women he had been with. “Men make better bed mates,” Will said. “Less risk, less attachment.”

“𝖂ho, me? I mean no harm tonight,” Mercutio smirked, leaning against a nearby wall. Maybe that was a lie, but Tybalt didn’t need to know that. It was always fun to mess with him - he just got so irritated so quickly, it would be a shame not to poke fun at it. “𝕿he least you could do is say please - but that word isn’t in your vocabulary, is it, Capulet?”
@mercutxo liked for a starter
“For ONCE, Escalus, leave me be … ” He rubs his temples where the headache has not quite subsided, a side-effect of his latest— episode. The ‘ falling sickness ’ had long plagued the young Capulet, though he did not like others to know about it. He did not want anyone to see him w e a k, lest of all his rival. “I am NOT in the mood tonight.”

At the sound of the other’s sigh, Mercutio’s brow crinkled in concern. “𝕳ave I said something to upset you?” he asked, hopping down from his spot on the wall to walk at his side. “𝓜ercutio, and I find love to be a bore - a waste of time. 𝔏ust is the best of the seven sins, and I indulge upon it often. I am not picky with whomever I choose - whether it be a man or a woman, a 𝓜ontague or a 𝓒apulet, as long as I enjoy myself, I’m perfectly satisfied.”

And that was the only topic the other found worthy of talking about? Will sighed. “You may call me Will,” he answered first with a shrug of his shoulders– will preferred to be called Will, being called ‘King’ made him feel too much like his father. “There would be no love to speak of even if I had thought that was what you were getting at; I find my relief in mistresses and whores alike, sometimes in the Ladies of the court… What about you?”

“𝔜ou and I both know how beautiful you are, there is no way for me to even think of insulting your looks, fair 𝓡osaline. And I have no desire to be... welcomed into the lifestyles, but thank you for the offer. I am perfectly happy with my life as it is,” he grinned, looking down at her as they continued their walk through the streets of Verona.

“Oh, you won’t be sorry to see me go? Should I take that as an insult upon my looks, dearest Meructio?” she teased, the pleased smile now returning to her lips now the conversation had resumed the lighter tone. “But, the lifestyles will always welcome you, even if you’ve already…lost your innocence.”

Chuckling at what she’d said, Mercutio shook his head. “I have no plans to become a priest nor a monk. 𝔐y life is perfectly wonderful without myself having to pledge to stay a virgin - heaven knows I’ve already broken that oath. 𝔗o some of 𝓥erona’s men, though, it will be a shame to see you pledge your life to 𝓗im. 𝔑ot that I mind - it’s your life, live as you want to.”
“Mercutio, I do not wish to enjoy any of the pleasures men have to offer. As soon as my parents stop pressing a marriage, I am sure I will pledge my life to God. You, however, I can not see as a priest or a monk,” she finished, giggling slightly at the image. “I’m sorry. How very dull of me.”
