ohhh these silly birds are so dumb I care them sm /aff
#pigeon tag#when I was younger I used to think they were called Morning Doves#Which I did not question for years bc I always heard them in the mornings#but anyways to elaborate on the “dumb” part#In my personal experience. They always let threats get way too close before fleeing#They’re REALLY bad at building nests#Saw a hen trying to incubate her eggs on the curb of a yard in my neighborhood#She and the eggs were gone the next day#:/#they also fly into our windows more than any other bird#Rock Doves are really smart though!! Those are your standard “street pigeon”#Another little bit about Mourning doves;#Their tails are diamond-shaped with the feathers spread apart#The tips of their tail feathers are white#So when they get startled#They make the chirping noise heard about halfway through the audio#And spread their tail feathers out to alert nearby doves!#Rabbits and deer have white “alert markings” on their tails too#Anyways uh. Infodumping about columbidae in the tags again I see /silly
