Prompt:
Merlin accidentally becomes Camelot’s Spymaster, a fact which only a few individuals ‘know’ (Leon as the first knight, the captain of the guard, and the castle steward). Others suspect he’s close to the Spymaster, passing on the information and rumours he collects. It’s just assumed that Merlin is passing on his reports to King Arthur during some of the many hours they spend sequestered away as master and ‘manservant’.
Neither Arthur nor Merlin realise Merlin is Camelot’s Spymaster.

Prompt:
No one knows who Emrys is. There are prophecies about him, but no way to identify him, as he keeps his magic shrouded, hidden, so he can’t be discovered even when standing in the same room as him.
(They say Emrys will only be revealed by the Once and Future king himself as his closest and most powerful husband ally after the golden era of magic has arrived.)
Not even Merlin knows who Emrys is. After all, no one could tell him when they didn’t know themselves.
But he does believe in Arthur’s future, that Arthur is the king the prophecies have spoken about.
And he’s glad. He’ll keep protecting Arthur, uphold the status quo, holding on until Emrys arrives at last.
After all, it’s hard work looking after this prat; he’d appreciate the help from someone who knows what they’re doing.
By why is Emrys taking so long to show up?

Prompt:
Through a series of unfortunate circumstances, Prince Arthur finds himself lost and stuck in a nearby kingdom. An enemy kingdom. A kingdom of magic.
He keeps his head down, disguising himself as a peasant and trading anything of value on him for coin. (He needs the money to survive and find a way home, and he can’t risk being discovered as a nobleman.) The only items he keeps and hides are his ring and his mother’s sigil.
The borders are closed with magic (Arthur still can’t understand how he stumbled to the wrong side), so he goes to the capital to see if he can find/buy a way to one of the neighbouring kingdoms to them make his way back to Camelot. On his first day in the city, he witnesses a man being executed for crimes against magic, and the king reminds his people that the views of Camelot will not be tolerated. Arthur knows he can never let his identity be discovered.
Through another series of unfortunate circumstances, Arthur finds himself the manservant of one of the young sorcerers in training, a boy called Merlin.
Arthur soon notices that Merlin too is keeping his head down, that he’s more powerful than he lets others see, but like everyone else, he hates Camelot. He hates it both for the suffering to magic as a result of the legislated and lethal prejudice, and more personally, for costing Merlin a life with his father. Despite how much Arthur comes to respect and even admire Merlin, he knows he can never tell him the truth.
And fears the coming day when the truth can’t be hidden any longer.

Prompt:
In a world where a-b-o is a thing, Prince Arthur is an Alpha. He’s been told all his life that one day he would marry an Omega, likely one of Royal blood.
There are fewer Betas in this world (the minority rather than the majority), and they are looked down on by the other genders. Betas cannot have any status and are always common no matter their birth. Betas are considered lesser, considered these sexless things. Yes, Betas have been known to have families with other Betas, but this is thought to be more of an anomaly (which they would realise isn’t true if they looked for even a moment). As a general rule they are assumed infertile, asexual. This is one of the reasons why Betas are used as personal servants to nobility.
Well Merlin, Arthur’s Beta manservant, is ready to challenge Arthur’s views, to show him just how passionate and sexual a Beta can be.

merlin reboot idea except this time the main character is arthur and the show is called arthur
Tumblr media
jk not that arthur, lol. anyway the pilot opens with an asmr inducing first scene of an unnamed protagonist emerging from a morning workout in the pool. as we see him get ready for the day, we hear faint whispers of a name, one we can’t quite understand, but he seems to recognize. he turns around but no one is there, only the audience sees a brief glimpse of a pale face with dark hair spread out around it in the reflection of the water. we follow him as he gets ready, but we never get a glimpse of his face. the seconds and music build up as he finishes his routine and heads to the university he teaches at. the keychain in his hands shines like the blade of a sword, and the hat he wears rests on his hair like a crown. we see his students greet him and learn he’s a bit of a favorite professor. the big reveal comes when he’s about to enter his office. the camera pans to the placard on the wall, which reads
penn drake, associate professor of medieval english and arthurian literature
the camera follows him inside, rises, and there surrounded by books and iconography of legends from long ago, the face of arthur pendragon in modern garb stares back to the shock of the audience. this story is not about a young boy discovering magic in a kingdom that persecutes it, but of a man plagued by dreams of the legends he studies, haunted by the face of a man he has never met, and sent on a quest to restore magic to the world
we’ve always assumed that merlin would be at arthur’s side at the time of his return, that he would find him, but what if arthur is reborn and spends the next 40 years of his life searching for a purpose? what if the purpose arrives when albion’s need is greatest—when merlin has all but given up, unaware that somewhere out there resides the king of legend, the king he swore himself to, the king he’s been searching for all this time.
call the show pendragon.

Prompt:
Despite all the noble Omega’s his father keeps parading before him, the only one Arthur wants to take as his mate is his Beta manservant (if he’s amenable).
However, he doesn’t know the secrets his servant is keeping from him. One will make his hopes and dreams easier, more attainable, whereas the other will make it infinitely more difficult.

Prompt:
Arthur’s known about Merlin’s magic almost from the beginning.
When he first discovered it, he tried to warn Merlin, discreetly - commenting on the dangers of magic without addressing Merlin’s magic specifically so he won’t have to arrest him. Over time though, he slowly learns - from Merlin - that magic isn’t all that his father has always claimed.
After this, it becomes a bit of a game to them; Arthur warning Merlin about magic, and Merlin coming up with the most outrageous of stories to try to explain it away.
But then the day comes when Arthur realises that Merlin never knew that Arthur always knew the truth.

Anhora Keeper Of The Unicorns really did have the toughest time of it, in terms of being a Magical Personage in Camelot.
I mean, not only did the guy have to deal with constant virgins endangering their lives by wandering alone through bandit-infested woods just to pester his unicorns, Anhora also had to witness this exchange between these two besotted idiots:
Arthur: I’M drinking the poison
Merlin: No, ME.
Arthur: Never! I shall die for you instead!
Merlin: That’s my job! You’re worth more than me!
Arthur: No YOUUUUU
Merlin: No YOUUUUU
Anhora: *extremely put-upon sigh*
Arthur: You’re so smart Merlin and clever Merlin and- hey what’s that over your shoulder?
Merlin: WHERE?
Arthur: *yoinks the cup*
Merlin: NOOOOOOOO Arthur my Arthur no no no let me die for youuuu.
Arthur: Never Merlin I shall die for you now!
Merlin: No let me-
Arthur: No let ME-
Anhora: I SWEAR TO GOD IF I ACTUALLY HAD PUT POISON IN THAT CUP I WOULD DRINK IT MYSELF!

Prompt:
In a world where soulmates are a thing, you can find your soulmate by matching it to its pair. The common people will often leave their marks uncovered (so long as their mark doesn’t appear somewhere scandalous) in the hopes of finding their soulmate, whereas nobility are know for keeping their marks hidden as to not be taken advantage of (and disguising when they marry for politics despite their soulmarks). Royalty are even more secretive, understandably. (Somehow, most people find their soulmates within their own classes. Shared experience perhaps.)
Only select few have seen Prince Arthur’s soulmark, one of those being the captain of King Uther’s knights. By chance, this knight sees Merlin’s mark when forcing him into the stocks once more.
The knight takes Merlin before the king, exposing his mark. Uther doesn’t want his son to end up with some peasant, some boy, but he can’t just have the boy killed either - he knew what it was like to live with a broken bond and wouldn’t wish that upon his son, especially when most broken bonds end in suicide.
So how will Uther deal with this unexpected setback? Will he blackmail, imprison, or exile the boy? Or something else entirely?

uther: you will be married to princess katharine in the next fortnight.
arthur, calmly: no, i will not.
uther, angry: yes, you will. it is for the good of the kingdom.
arthur, smirking: you misunderstand me, father. i cannot.
uther, eyes narrowed: and why not?
arthur, still smirking and somehow beaming: i cannot marry, as i am already married.
basically i think it’d be funny if this happened and arthur revealed he had married merlin, making merlin the prince of camelot (arthur already crown prince and i think merlin should also be king when arthur is crowned but king consort works in this scenario)

They are trapped. Truly this time.
The knights are forced into a small room, conditioned to wait until their captors decided upon their fate.
It's not Arthur's fault, he thinks. How could he have known they were waltzing into the territory of gods? Sure, if he had listened to Merlin... But since when did Arthur ever listen to Merlin? He regretted that now.
They had tried slashing the walls with their swords as well as the doors, but neither of them could get a scratch on it, let alone pass through. They had seen a man be smitten by one of the gods in question. It had been a terrible, gory sight. A god who had smiled at them when impaled, told them attacking them would get them minus points. His voice never wavered, his smile never faded. Then the god made their way through a door without even touching it. The door vanished around them, never having to open.
There was a sign on that door, that was the reason why Arthur knew that person had been a god.
Only gods may enter
Humans were unable to.
Merlin sighs and draws attention to himself. "Well, I guess this is it."
Arthur: we're not going to die here, Merlin.
Merlin: no. I guess not. But I suppose, I will, after.
Arthur: after? Why would you -
Merlin shrugs, then turns to the impeccable door. As if to test it, he touches the wood. His hand goes through. "Shit", Merlin mutters, but doesn't look surprised. A second later, he's gone.
Arthur doesn't realize that he tried to stop him until his own hand collides with the hard wood of the door that swallowed his servant. Arthur's eyes are stuck to the sign. Slowly, very slowly, his mind connects the dots.
