The followers who followed to my old account @metalfairygirl knew my OC Jocasta and her AU version, inspired by @grumpyoutlaw Sonnie's Edge AU. So, the fact is that I decided to completely update her story, both original and alternative, because over time I stopped liking her story.

For now, I've decided to post an updated story of her alternate version. The fact is that I wanted Jocasta to develop, not to gain everything at once and to struggle with difficulties. Yes, I ship her with Viktor, but in the updated story, Viktor will not be the same as in the @grumpyoutlaw AU, and she will not meet him immediately. And in addition, the action also takes place in the world of cyberpunk, but not in the @grumpyoutlaw AU, because I want to be a little more original. Although there will be elements of her AU present. I've also added a few more of my OCs to the AU (one of them will have an important role). And the name of the AU will be «Nine-tailed demon» (because in the original universe, Jocasta's powers are linked to demons).

So let's get down to the story!

Jocasta was a member of the Masaki clan (she has a different last name in this AU) in Japan, as well as the youngest daughter of the head. She has an older sister named Ayano, who is to inherit the position of head of the clan after the death of their father. While Ayano was taught what the head of the clan should know and be able to do, Jocasta was taught martial arts, namely the mastery of katanas. The younger children in the Masaki clan have been excellent warriors for centuries, and they began to teach martial arts from an early age, unlike the older children, who began to be trained from the age of ten.

Masaki clan warriors wore a similar uniform and fox mask, as the fox in their clan meant cunning, dexterity, elegance, eternity and a sharp mind.

For many years, Jocasta learned to fight with the help of two katanas and she devoted almost all her time to training, which led to the fact that she had no equal. She loved and wanted to protect her beloved family very much. When she turned sixteen, she became a full-fledged defender of the clan, and also became the main one among the warriors of the clan, but not because she was the daughter of the head, but for her merits, achievements and hard work.

Immediately after receiving this position, she began her work to protect the clan. Over the years of her service to the clan, Jocasta suffered serious injuries more than once and even lost limbs during combat, but due to the fact that her clan was one of the richest in Japan, she could afford cybernetic implants and prosthetics.

At the age of twenty-three, she received special blades, the steel of which was many times stronger than her usual katanas. The blades themselves were coated with a special layer that prevented the steel from rusting and scratching. Jocasta's new blades also had neon lighting. She received these blades because she successfully destroyed an enemy group that was plotting to attack the clan. She did this with the help of other warriors who were loyal to the clan. Although Jocasta was the strongest warrior, even she needed help, because there were tasks that she could not do. In the Masaki clan, absolutely everyone trusted each other and were ready to help. This is another factor in the clan's existence for so long.

When Jocasta turned twenty-nine years old, her parents messed up a lot, as a result of which they owed another influential clan a huge amount of money. In fact, it was all a huge deception on the part of the other clan, because in this way they planned to destroy the opponent, which they practically succeeded. But the Masaki clan members realized this too late, as Ayano and Jocasta's parents had died.

As a result, the clan lost all its wealth, but the members remained loyal. Everyone was already ready for Ayano to take the place of the new head, but everything went wrong. Ayano was diagnosed with a terminal illness, and therefore required surgery. But the amount for the operation turned out to be something that Jocasta had not heard of even when the clan was rich. The cost of the operation was simply unimaginably gigantic!

Jocasta fell into despair. The clan was on the verge of extinction, there was no money at all, and also her sister's illness. Jocasta loved her sister more than anything in world, as she had spent her whole life with her. Ayano was her best friend and also her support. The younger Masaki couldn't accept that her most precious sister in the world was going to die soon, and so she took care of her in every possible way, thinking along the way how to save her and the clan at the same time. She could not take the place of the head instead of her sister, since she did not possess such knowledge. Therefore, there was only one option left - to save her sister.

Jocasta was filled with rage. She was angry that the enemy clan had deceived them and wanted to destroy them. Jocasta was ready to go and slaughter all the members of that clan, but she understood that if she crossed their path when her own clan was impoverished, and when there was no head, then in this way she would discredit the honor of her family.

In the end, she went to someone who she thought could help. She went to her paternal uncle, Vincent. Vincent was once an influential and famous scientist, but at some point he screwed up big time and he lost his job. He specialized in studying human souls and life after death. Because of one such case involving an unknown, he lost his job. Although he did not stop doing his job, as he was obsessed with it. In addition, Vincent communicated very well with his younger niece.

Jocasta asked him if he could somehow save her sister, to which he replied that he could not help in any way, since it needed resources that cost a lot of money, and the clan was impoverished. But he told Jocasta that he knows a way to make a lot of money. He told her about the fighting pits, where not people fight, but huge beasts controlled by their masters. For each battle won, the amount of money increases. Then Jocasta realized that this was her chance to save Ayano.

But there was one thing, namely, that Jocasta did not have her own beast that she could control. If other scientists had not severed all ties with Vincent, then it would have been much easier to solve this issue. But Vincent found a way to create a beast. He took from his secret vault several human souls and one animal soul, namely a fox. By connecting all the souls together, he created one whole soul. After that, he began to create a physical shell. This process took three days.

In the end, the younger Masaki saw a huge humanoid fox. His fur was white as snow, decorated in some places with red and blue patterns, especially on his muzzle. His claws were long and incredibly razor-sharp, and had a sky-blue color. And behind him were nine long, fluffy and huge fox tails.

Having admired such a beautiful sight, the question arose about where to store this creature. Vincent told Jocasta that a humanoid fox can take the form of a spirit, so it can inhabit inanimate objects. The swordswoman decided that she would keep the fox in her mask. And so they did.

After placing the fox spirit in the mask, Jocasta prepared to go home to pack her things, but before that Vincent warned her that she was taking a very big risk. The fact is that now, when she puts on the mask, the energy of the fox that is stored in it will affect her consciousness and psyche. Vincent told her that one of the souls he used belonged to a dangerous maniac, and combining the killer's soul with the soul of a predatory animal turned out to be a creature hungry for someone else's blood and flesh. He warned that this factor could lead to Jocasta becoming just as bloodthirsty and cruel over time.

So he asked her:

"Are you ready to lose your humanity to save your sister's life? Are you ready to sacrifice yourself?"

Jocasta thought about her uncle's words. Yes, she was aware that she was taking a huge risk and that she could eventually lose herself and become a monster. But what happens if the clan loses its best warrior? Someone else can take her place, but no one can take her sister's place. The girl thought about it and decided that she would rather sacrifice herself than feel sorry for and torment herself later.

"It is better to sacrifice yourself than to suffer from guilt later."

That's all Jocasta said before she left. But before that, Vincent gave her the rest of his money to travel to another country.

Already at home, Jocasta packed her most necessary things and booked a ticket. While Ayano was sleeping, Jocasta wrote her a note and left it on her bedside table, and then instructed the maids to watch and take care of her. But before that, she sat next to her sleeping sister for a while, and after kissing her on the forehead, she left the estate and set off on her way. Jocasta also did not forget to bring her blades with her.

Now Jocasta was ready to win victories and earn money to save Ayano. She is ready to do anything to save her.

But will she keep her humanity or lose it? It depends on her...
