Thorin Thursday 👑⚔️🏹 "I think my favorite moment was walking on set wearing Thorin's gleaming gold armour, the product of numerous designs and about 10 fittings. I was draped in a heavy velvet cloak, with a crown on my wig- and prosthetic-covered head. I could barely walk beneath it all, but I was absolutely determined that this beast of a costume would move around Erebor, up and down the ramparts and deep into the bowels of the Mountain with ease, until the moment that it all became too heavy for Thorin to bear." -- Richard on his BotFA armour, from 'The Hobbit Chronicles 5: Art & Design'.

Thorin in full battle regalia. Richard carried the weight (both literally and metaphorically) in those pre-battle scenes like the true professional he is.

Thorin wrestles with his inner demons, as the gold he covets threatens to engulf him.

The Impressionists aired for the first time OTD in 2006. Beautifully filmed and orchestrated, this BBC factual drama focuses on the lives of six of the most well-known male artists of the Impressionist movement and features Richard as a young Claude Monet. The 3-hour miniseries covers the years 1862, when he attended art school in Paris, to 1920 when the elder Monet (played by Julian Glover, who narrates the story) resided in Giverny. Available to stream on YouTube and on dvd with bonus content.
