1.                   https://www.pewtrusts.org/en/research-and-analysis/articles/2018/09/24/plastic-pollution-affects-sea-life-throughout-the-ocean
Simon Reddy, September 24, 2018
According to the United Nations, at least 800 species worldwide are affected by marine debris, and 80 percent of that litter is plastic. This is what’s killing our marine life and polluting our water. Research shows that half of the sea turtles worldwide have ingested plastic. They think it’s jellyfish and they eat them. Plastic waste kills up to a million seabirds a year. Plastic is something we need to recycle much more often.
This text is useful to spreading awareness to pollution in our oceans. It shows the effects it has on our marine wildlife, in hopes to help prevent pollution all together. This article appeals to logic with logos because there are a lot of facts that come with pollution. It makes the topic more substantial to its viewers. The article’s credibility is based upon the facts presented.
1. Will marine pollution stop?
2. What is the government doing to help stop this?
3. What can we do to stop pollution?

1. Daigle, Katy. “ Air pollution is shortening lives worldwide” https://www.sciencenewsforstudents.org/article/air-pollution-shortening-lives-worldwide 14 Sept 2018
Air pollution is killing millions. Air pollution lowers average life spans by a year. It has also been linked to numerous health problems. Air pollution comes from cars, factories to manufacture our goods, cigarettes we smoke. Everything you can possibly imagine contributes to our air quality.
The article uses pathos and logos to promote why pollution is bad. It appeals to our emotions by showing us the harmful effects that it has on our health. People take their health serious. The article also touches on the fact that air pollution is detrimental. I do want to use this article for my paper because it is very credible and speaks nothing but the truth.

2a. The title is “220-lb. ‘Litter Ball' Found Inside a Dead Sperm Whale's Belly” and it was published on Livescience.com.
2b. I discovered that pollution not only effects our Earth, but it effects other living organisms that share this planet as well.
2c. Livescience.com is a very credible source. The site launched in 2004. The site received Webby Awards as an Honoree in the Science category in 2008 and 2010. It was acquired by TechMediaNetwork, now called Purch, in 2009. Mindy Weisberger is a senior writer, she covers general science, including new species discoveries, unusual behaviors in humans and other animals, paleontology, Earth and ocean science, emerging technologies and the intersection of science and pop culture. She studied filmmaking at Columbia University, and before coming to Live Science, she wrote, produced and directed science videos for the Department of Exhibition at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) and for the museum's science news and data visualization group, Science Bulletins.
3. Pollution is very detrimental, not only to humans and Earth but also to marine and wildlife. The way we pollute the Earth is beyond despicable. A 20-ton Sperm Wale washed up ashore almost dead. 48 hours later it died and it was caused by plastic, nets, and debris being trapped in it’s belly. It blocked its intestines from being able to digest anything.
Livescience.com published this article. It appeals to our emotion. The whale dying due to human’s pollution is very tear jerking to some. This very credible due to the current climate that our world is in. Pollution is sweeping away the world around us. Mindy Weisberger is very credible when it comes to animals and ocean science.

Blog Post 3
Blog Prompt Three: It is time to choose a broad topic for your research. Look at the list of ideas from class and from your freewrites, and find something that speaks to you: something you think you can enjoy learning about for the rest of the semester. Go do some researching online about your topic.
1. Write down the topic your think you want to research (trash, sustainability, relationships – be broad).
My topic is pollution and how lack of care results in the planet becoming a wasteland.
2. Find a text about your topic and see what you can discover/see what kind of conversations are happening about your topic. Post the link to your article on your Tumblr account and then answer the following questions:
a. What is the title of the text you found and what genre is it/where was it published?
b. What did you discover about your topic after both searching for the text and reading about the topic?
c. Based on what you know about selecting sources, do you think the source is credible? Why or why not? Consider the author or publishing organization for this text and provide as much information as you can.
3. Write a one-paragraph summary for the article. Yes, you need to complete this task to complete the assignment, but you are writing for yourself. Summarize what is important about the text so that you can return to your blog post and scan through your summary to decide if you want to go back and consider this text more thoroughly. (Also, you may want to use this in your annotated bibliography.)
4. Create a works-cited entry for the text and paste it here:
Student-led discussion: Tell the class your broad research topics and give them some information about the articles you found and where you found them. Ask the class to share their topics and explain any frustrations they ran into while researching their topics. Come up with a few more questions to ask about experiences with choosing a topic and searching for texts.

2a. John Sutter is the author for this article. He is a climate change analyst for CNN. Sutter is an award-winning reporter and was previously in CNN's investigative unit, where he focused primarily on climate change, social justice issues and crowdsourced reporting projects. Sutter joined CNN in 2009. In 2014, he won the Al Neuharth Award for innovation in investigative reporting for an online series on LGBT life in Mississippi.
2b.The article is published by CNN. CNN is an American based news outlet. They lean more towards a Democratic political view. They express their opinions for democratic issues more than republican issues.
2c. Democrats are part of the audience that CNN has.
2d. The purpose of the article is bring awareness to the climate change due to human’s actions like burning fossil fuels and warming the atmosphere.
2e. John Sutter promotes his argument by showing us the facts which would mean he’s using logos.
3. John Sutter is bias in this article due to his lack of understanding for both sides. He is only in support of his own opinion and agenda. Bias is being prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another. Usually this is in a way considered to be unfair. Sutter can see both sides of this argument instead of taking his stance on it, and sticking to it.
4. Sutter’s biasness doesn’t make what he is expressing in the article incorrect. He uses facts to support his argument.
5. This article could be used for our research paper because it states facts to what we will be researching.

2. The Assault on Empathy by Sherry Turkle discusses how children born after 2000 lack empathy. This is caused by more technology. Robots also are being created to feel emotion. This doesn’t help the empathy-lacking children, it feeds into it. Robots are being made to cater to humans more.
