"the doctor was completely colourblind for his first two incarnations" is hilarious for many reasons but at least partly because it implies the third doctor just woke up one day suddenly able to see in colour and immediately decided to start dressing like a gay parrot

Fallout games
See, here's the thing with the Fallout franchise, that I sometimes take issue with.
The gameplay suuuuucks Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics are products of their time and I totally understand why my zoomer ADHD brain couldn't get into it.
Fallout 3 and New Vegas though, that's something else, with those games, I SO badly want to get invested, and when I was a lot younger, before internet and I even knew what a PS4 was, I played a ton of New Vegas on my PS3, and all was fine.
But in recent years, every time I try to go back and play New Vegas (or 3) I just cant get back into it. The combat sucks, the movement sucks even worse, and it really does just feel atrocious to play in my opinion. My most recent attempt was to play the game via Tale of Two Wastelands, which combines Fallout 3 and New Vegas into one game. And don't get me wrong the idea is awesome and through listening to hours upon hours of lore videos the stories of both games intrigue me so much, but getting through the slog of probably the worst first person shooter gameplay I've ever endured just isnt worth it. A few days ago however, I begun a new playthrough of Fallout 4. I've only ever beaten it once, and never did the DLC, and I decided that its time I should. Got all of the "essential" mods installed detailed in The Midnight Ride modguide, and got to it. And I forgot how nice to play Fallout 4 is!
the massive jump from NV to 4 in terms of game mechanics, RPG elements aside are astronomical. Now i know that it did remove a lot of things that were beloved about the first two Bethesda Fallout games but the moment to moment gameplay is just infinitely better. I wish that Bethesda would show the Fallout franchise some more love, give New Vegas the Oblivion Remastered treatment! (and Fallout 3 but that's also a lot of work) I saw some footage of a mod to port New Vegas into 4/Creation Engine and it looks pretty remarkable, from what was there but it seems that the project slowed to a halt, I really hope they can continue soon. Now enough of my senseless rant, hopefully soon I shall return with some Doccy Who "reviews" or maybe some more life updates, since things have changed a bit recently. Insert typical signoff here, love ya'll

The Blog Returns 2: Electric Boogaloo
So, it’s been a while since I’ve done a proper update, huh? Well, I probably won’t be writing for as long as I used to, but nonetheless here we are. in the near year since I’ve updated, I’ve lost my job, become single again and aside from some personal loans, I’m out of debt!Bit of a rollercoaster, but what can you do?Been moving around a little, trying to find work, but no luck since late December. Right now staying with family that, while I know have good intentions… are really hard to live with. Their anti-woke and anti-lgbt rhetoric really gets to me for obvious reasons. There are other reasons but I won’t really delve into them here, maybe when I’m out of this I will.
//Computer stuff, you can skip this big paragraph if you’re not interested! On a different topic, I’ve been tinkering with my computers again, and I have acquired a new addition to the family, a ThinkPad T480. I had macOS installed on it for a little bit until I accidentally broke it, and I’ve had a few different operating systems since, currently settled on a debloated Windows 10. My 2013 iMac is also being put to good use, currently being used as my grandma’s main computer, doing the job since she mainly just syncs iTunes/Apple Music and burns DVD’s. My 2017 iMac is a little bit of a difficult one, I could easily use it as a Plex server but then I would be left without a computer capable of running modern macOS, and since I mess around a lot in GarageBand its tough. My early 2009 is another difficult one, currently its actually running Linux Mint, and while I want to restore it to macOS, probably Sierra, but I don’t actually have a keyboard that will let me get to recovery, the only one I had that did work I had to give to my grandma with that iMac. But its ok, it was super cheap, like $12.
Other things I’ve been getting into lately, I’ve been going back and watching the marvel movies, currently watching Thor Love and Thunder for the first time as I type, and caught up with most movies except Shang Chi and Wakanda Forever, Eternals and The Marvels I’m probably gonna skip. I forgot how much I liked Doctor Strange and the Guardians movies, I’m very excited for Doomsday, the next Strange movie and, if theres gonna be more Guardians, even with a new cast i’d be very happy. Aaaand I don’t really have much else to talk about right now, I have some plans to try fix some of the issues on my car, currently looking at a new set of leads and an ignition coil, when I am either on jobseeker or find more work, I’m going to order some parts to repair my iMac, and I might sell it off, since I snagged it for 80 and can probably resell it for 300ish if I fix the screen, more if I upgrade it.
Well, guess ill sign off for now, hopefully this time I might be more consistent with shorter posts, like the couple I made before. Thanks for reading! Here's a little gift from a friend of a friend, Tori (@insanitory on discord)

I saw something in the news today that truly took my breath away. If you have been paying attention to U.S. politics over the past few days, you’ve most likely seen this woman:
Tumblr media
This is Bishop Mariann Budde, and on Monday (Trump’s inauguration) she led an interfaith prayer for Trump and the incoming administration. During the service she asked him to have mercy for LGBTQ+ Americans and undocumented immigrants. This was badly received by the Trump administration (as expected).
After seeing headlines about this woman, I read something that I wanted to share. In 1998 a man named Matthew Shepard was murdered for being gay. I’m not going to get into the details of his death on this post, but please be warned it is extremely triggering if you do choose to read more on your own. Matthew Shepard’s death caused a lot of change in the U.S. regarding how LGBTQ hate crimes are handled, and laws that were passed to protect LGBTQ+ people.
Now you’re probably wondering what Matthew Shepard has to do with an Episcopal bishop. For years after Matthew Shepard’s murder, his family had held onto his remains, too scared to lay him to rest in fear of his final resting place being vandalized. In 2018, Budde had his remains interred at the National Cathedral, which is also the place where the interfaith prayer for Trump and his administration took place. The impact of this really had an effect on me. Budde could have led a non confrontational prayer service, and chosen not to mention the harm that will come to the people Trump and his administration are going after. Instead she chose to call out hate and fear in front of some of the most powerful people on the planet, and at a place that has such a large historic meaning to the LGBTQ community.
In the next few years there will be many challenges in protecting free speech, standing up against hate, and protecting those in our communities. But I would like to believe that for every Donald Trump and Elon Musk, there are people like Marianne Budde. There are those of us who can’t speak up for themselves, so it’s important for those of us who can to amplify our voices, even if it’s not the ‘popular’ thing to do.
“And he said you should apologize. Will you apologize?
I am not going to apologize for asking for mercy for others.” - Mariann Budde’s response in a Time interview

Not being able to watch ANY classic Doctor Who is really bugging me, there is absolutely NO way to stream it in Australia, and the only ways of purchasing it are; 1. Buy 3 out of 26 Seasons on Apple TV 2: Buy 17 out of 26 Seasons on Microsoft Store??? 3. Spend INSANE amounts of money on the DVD's and BluRays which are either scalped, rare or otherwise unobtainable. AS IS I had to spent OVER $300AUD to get the complete 2005 - 2022 boxset into Australia because it was never sold here. It USED to be all on BritBox until the Disney deal, and even modern DW is only available in chunks across different services here. So there's preeetty much no way to watch it legally. Though strangely, my personal Plex server seems to completely, randomly and amazingly have everything from 1963 - 1989... Fascinating...

Lately I’ve been feeling better about myself when it comes to my identity as Avery, and my gender as a whole. My IRL friends have accepted me as have the people I know online with few exceptions. Coming out to my family will still be a tough time, but I can put it off indefinitely right now. This is obviously ground I’ve covered before, but where I was going with it was this… A few weeks ago I went to ozcomicon with a few friends and my partner, and while the convention was kind of underwhelming (as ozcomicon tends to be), I introduced myself as Avery for the first time ever in person.
It was to people I’d never met and people I will more than likely never meet again, but that was huge for me. I actually built up the confidence to do it, and even though it felt so wrong and weird to say that, after the fact it made me so damn happy that I finally did it.
My boyfriend was there as well and honestly, any time I see him in person, I just can’t help but love him even more, and I’m so glad I got to spend some more time with him :) On the way back, I was dropping off a friend and we were in the car for a good hour and a half almost, we talked a lot, about various things but one of the conversations was again about identity and how I had been struggling with it. My memory is pretty awful so I don’t remember anything specific about it, but it really helped with my insecurities and severe imposter syndrome. I’m not free of those things by any means but it really helps that, the few remaining friends I’ve had that have stuck by me for the better part of a decade, accept me as the person I want to be.
A few little side notes as idk when I’ll be posting again, I’m fairly inconsistent… John Barrowman was at ozcomicon this year and I was so excited to watch his Q&A, but the moment he came out on stage… he just kind of confused me. He came out very loud and swearing a good amount, and some of the stories he told were a bit too suggestive for the audience I think. More suited to a small club or comedy night. I like him as Jack Harkness but even me, a massive Doctor Who fanatic, ended up walking from just being uncomfortable.
I have been trying to go through some doctors and clinicians to get an Autism assessment, I’m finally starting to work on something that’s been bothering me for many years and I will hopefully have more to report in that regard soon, I just need to find the funds since it is certainly not cheap :/
I’ve been commissioning a lot of different artists lately! I actually need to take a break for a while but I’m happy to share a few highlights from recent ones!
