How to get Ink on Tapas

A guide for my fellow S-Class Heroine brainrotters 🫡 but which also applies for other series.

Fortune Cookie Ink

The Ink you get this way lasts ONE WEEK.

First, you'll want to get very familiar with the Inbox button which you can access on the bottom panel ①

Next, click the "Claim" (or "Get", idk) button near the top for the Fortune Cookie. This refreshes every Monday 00:00 PT.

Reading Missions

The Ink you get this way lasts ONE DAY.

You'll want to open the messages tab ① once a day, optimally at around 11AM PT (there's probably a range of timings, but I haven't bothered to figure it out)

② Click one of the events that are still ongoing. This should bring you to either the promo page or the series page itself.

③ Check the details of the reading mission.

In this case, I need to read 7 episodes within 1.5 days.

Chaps that are unlocked via WUF (Wait Until Free) are counted as well. (Orange WUFs refresh once every 24hrs and the blue ones once every 3hrs.) So my plan is to open the first 5 chapters, which are automatically free, and use WUF for 2 more chapters.

(BTW, you don't actually have to spend time reading the whole chapter or even scrolling to the end. Just let the chapter load and you're free to leave. Just make sure the chapters are greyed out in the series page like Chapter 6 here. Chapter 6 has been considered Read. Chapster 1-5 have not.)

Because this is an orange WUF series, I can only unlock one WUF episode once every 24hrs. So if you start the mission after 05/04/2024 00:00 you're screwed basically. This is why I tend to open my app around the time when the missions refresh (11:00 PT) so I have more leeway to unlock the 2nd WUF episode.

You do need to get a little used to the terminology Tapas uses. There are some reading missions which you can't fulfil without spending Ink. Here's an example:

Only 24hrs are given to unlock 2 episodes of <The Resourceful Little Consort>, and this series is a 24hr WUF series.

Also note the fine text:

Episodes unlocked prior to the start of the event are ineligible

UNLOCK (not Read) episodes -> this means that reading any of the first few episodes that are permanently free do not count, unlike for the first example, <I've Been Proposed to By a Villain>

So this reading mission is a bust, basically.

Checking Ink Expiry

① Click More ② Click Ink Shop

③ Click the (?) at the top right

④ Click transaction history

I haven't actually figured out what time exactly the ink will expire. I think it's 24hrs from when you were first awarded it and not 00:00 hours/midnight.

Also, Tapas likes to say you need to check your Inbox to "claim" the Ink, but you. you don't. It's credited to your account instantly. I think the countdown starts from the instant you open the last chapter needed to finish the mission.

missed a detail in novel chapter 19:

Hestio: When are we ever going to get to leave the Vatican? When we're adults?

Ephael: Probably never. Well, maybe if a huge dungeon sink bursts out in the middle of the Vatican.

Ephael in the last hours of his life was probably beating himself up for that joke 😨

scratches head. rereading toy mansion arc and genuinely, how on earth did ephael manage to kill all the children in the mansion in the original storyline.

1. the entrance to the boss room closes the instant the fight starts. there's a bit of conflicting info about when it opens again - toy mansion (ch 23) says that even the boss can't run once the fight has started (more specifically, while fighting is in progress). but dungeon 300 says that the boss can be careless and open the dungeon if they mistakenly believe that everyone has died. maybe the specific condition is that no one has to be in the state of fighting?? so the fight ends once tesilid & ephael give up, even if they're still alive? i believe that once rodrigo gets the chance to, he would've chosen to open the doors open the doors to watch ephael wreck havoc on the other children.

edit: just realised that the "boss fight" started the instant rodrigo first appears and that the whole mansion is the "boss room", nvm

2. tesilid would've beat ephael's ass for that. how did that go. was he running after ephael trying to stop him while ephael was like, opening cupboards checking for kids. is it even possible for ephael to find the kids, much less kill them, if tesilid is trying to stop him? tesilid is much, much stronger than ephael - he brought down the mole in an instant when ephael couldn't do so even with hestio's help. PLUS, if ephael was that determined, i think the only thing that would have effectively stopped him was death. did tesilid have to try to kill him? his own roommate? or did tesilid also give up and help ephael track down the other kids? i don't think tesilid would have - not just because it would go against his stigma commandments, but also because it goes against his own personal beliefs. did ephael knock him out first? or was ephael entering rooms and checking under beds while tesilid was also tracking him down? probably telling him that this was wrong and they should find some other way?

3. isn't the mansion supposed to be big as hell. did ephael really track down every single kid in the whole place to kill them. the round of hide and seek they played in canon (w the monsters as the seekers) is scary but even that isn't as deranged as this. that's messed up. that's messed up. how many children were still alive by then and how long did ephael take to track the last of them down. and if tesilid was trying to stop him, how long did ephael have to run. how long did he have to spend thinking about the blood on his hands and how he was soon planning to take his own life. like. can you imagine. ephael coaxes a child to come out of their hiding spot. he's a stigma bearer from the vatican, so he's safe, he says. the child looks up at him, clothed in white and covered in blood.

Ch 13 when the vatican trio first appear. The official TL clarifies whether Hestio or Ephael is speaking, and it's the opposite of what i thought it would be.

i just realised that during the Toy Mansion arc, Ailette refers to herself and Tesilid as 10 year-olds (Ch 25 & 29), but in Round 17 (Ch 91) Tesilid refers to Ailette as being around 12 when Clovis first got the orders to find the saintess.

Did Clovis only start searching 2 years after the Toy Mansion. Did Tesilid assume that Ailette is older than him. Somehow I don't believe that Ailette would've gotten Tesilid's age wrong

Not me coming back to this half a year later, but I just reread Ch 104 (Tesilid's trial vs the Knights of Worship / Order of the Light Pillar) and I think I connected some more dots.

It seems like she asked Clovis to bring in residents from Greenwall to testify that the Knights all went in together. I guess she predicted that the Knights would try to drag Tesilid down with them. And was a bit exasperated but not surprised that Tesilid didn't try to refute them.

It's not clear how she was planning to bring the witnesses in originally, though. Like, the only reason she was able to get Clovis to do that was because he knows she's the saintess. What was she planning to do if she had stuck to her original plan of being a low-ranked healer? It's true that Hestio and Ephael were the ones who brought the witnesses into the room, but it's not clear if they just happened to be the ushers that day, or if they were the ones who took the initiative to bring in the witnesses to back Tesilid up. Maybe Ailette gave Clovis the order just in case they hadn't managed to get it done? But Hestio and Ephael's roles would still be premised upon the coincidence of them meeting Tesilid and Ailette, so what on earth was Ailette planning to do if they hadn't met?

Maybe she saved the villagers just so she would have more chips to play with?? That does seem like something she would do, she has a habit of scooping up whatever loot comes her way Just In Case. And then the cards just happened to fall in just the right way that she could take advantage of them.

There also what vnikat pointed out in the replies about how Tesilid was supposed to die slowly, so maybe Ailette felt she could still make good time, and she judged that having safeguards that could protect Tesilid's reputation and position was important enough to let him suffer a bit longer.

Thinking of how Ailette’s first order of business when the 17th round starts is to rescue the villagers and then rescue Terry. I didn’t think about it too much originally but wasn’t Ailette taking chances here that Tesilid wouldn’t make it before she got there? Like Tesilid maybe did in a sense not make it which is why we have 117th Tesilid instead of 17th Tesilid. Did she simply think she would have enough time according to her knowledge from the book? It’s true Ailette also does care about civilians, but I’m wondering if another reason she does this is for Reed’s sake and to prevent Reed from having killed people.

like. jesus christ. how did they manage to break someone like that down so thoroughly.

i think the saddest thing is that when he was a kid he clearly wasn't this voluntarily selfless either. he was out there complaining about the commandments and going "why did it have to be me". he could still say shit about how people shouldn't have to sacrifice themselves or to live in the vatican's suffocating system. somehow he still grew up to be someone who consistently and mindfully willingly subjected himself to said system, and who chose the community over self despite the backlash he knew he'd get. falls to my knees.

once every two months i make this realisation all over again and it still socks me in the stomach each time.
