"Nothing that bad has happened to any of our current artists, so there's nothing to lose sleep over. If our artists ever feel as if they're in serious danger, we offer a variety of resources to keep them safe �� extra security, extra monitoring, less schedules, less direct contact with fans so they can calm down, catch their breath. We do our best to keep them safe, so there's no guilt."

Kevin scratches his chin. "Things don't feel right unless I have a hand in them. I've been told I have high standards, but it's hard to trust other people with your vision, but... I've been trying to loosen up. Let go of some control. That's why I started working with Juha... It's also why the songwriting camps exist. So I can help my artists reach their full potential. I'd feel better relinquishing control to my own pupils."

🎤 + kevin yoon: which release was your favourite to work on?

Kevin sighs, eyebrows furrowing. "My favorite release for REMEDY... The Most Beautiful Moment In Life. Everything REMEDY does is great, the boys are all talented, but I always wonder if we'll ever be able to top that album. For NYMTH, it's Butterfly or Birth. Both of those projects were revolutionary, and that's not the bias talking. Never-before-seen in K-POP. I'm infinitely proud of my work on those projects."

to: an jaeseop 📱 // regarding ydh artists with production credits, how much creative freedom do they really have? how much are you willing to give..? how are you marketing their artistry?

"They're idols. Not writers, not producers. If they wanted more creative control, they should've signed a contract with Kevin Yoon. We'll let them dabble in a little songwriting here and there, but giving them full creative control? That's not their job. Their job is to sing the songs we give them. To suit the image we create for them. We might accept some submissions, sure, from our soloists or senior artists like Angelix, but every submission we accept is edited and finetuned by us. But we might stretch the truth in the press a bit. Market them as a budding songwriter when all they did is suggest a single line. Makes everyone look a bit better."

📱, cho taejoon: do you have any regrets about not going with the original line up of phaze and having to invest in blue becoming a soloist?

"If I had thought Blue would contribute significantly to PHAZE's lineup, I would've debuted him regardless of any scandal. We've buried scandals to make debuts happen before, and we have the means to pay off reporters. Manipulating public opinion is easy for us. But, ultimately, his inclusion in the lineup didn't make a difference to us, and wasn't worth the risk or the extra effort. So, we pulled him, shelved him, debuted him as a soloist once we felt like he was ready. I have no regrets about any of it. Two streams of revenue is better than one, and he's shaping up to be an impressive soloist."

💌, eunbin, yang dohee: "is there a reason why i have to continue to put acting before the group? at this point with all the negative comments, wouldn't it be better off if i focused on the group instead?"

"You shouldn't pay any mind to the negative comments. They're from Angelix fans that can't understand that acting is a prestigious career path." She pulls her lips into a forced sympathetic smile, before exhaling slowly. "You've won awards for your acting, you've received a lot of love from the public for your acting. You're a natural on screen. To be so loved as an idol actress is incredibly rare. Why stop something that's clearly working out for you?"

📱 + taejoon + do you actually want to help remedy grow as a group, or are you turning them into another haute pink?

"I have no intention of disbanding REMEDY. As a group, they're a cash cow. Their fans will support them financially no matter what we do with them. They'll get a comeback once a year. Maybe every other year. My main focus is growing their individual careers. Some I'm more interested in others. Those members will get more support directly from myself and Midas Labels. The others are in Kevin's hands. I don't intend on working with members that don't interest me."

"Our position is dependant on the financial risk."

"There's no company-wide dating ban, but idols with specific images or particular fanbases should be careful when dating. Our male idols, excluding any rookie groups, may date freely. Our female idols, however, tend to be given more specific images — and female idols with bigger male fanbases should avoid dating publicly. A soloist like Chaea, who's built her image off of provocation and controversy, may date freely, but most members of Haute Pink, all members of GIRL CODE, and soloists like Lena are advised against dating publicly. If a dating scandal causes any serious backlash or financial loss to the company, the idol will be held responsible. In cases of serious backlash, we may take away some of their individual perks or opportunities. But if that's a risk they want to take, we won't stop them."

📱+ ydh ent + it's not exactly a secret that ydh perpetuates a parasocial relationship between idols and their fans and that can get dangerous, what are the steps you take to protect your own artists?

"YDH Entertainment artists are protected by strong security teams during all group and individual schedules. If an artist requires additional security outside of schedules, it's provided to them. All interactions with fans are closely monitored by artist managers and their security teams. Fan gifts and letters are reviewed by a manager prior to being delivered to the artist. If an individual violates our artists' rights, we will pursue all available legal actions without leniency or settlement. Our artists have close bonds with their fans which does put them at an increased risk for dangerous or uncomfortable situations, but protective and legal measures are taken when necessary."

"We've increased the number of employees assigned to our Reporting Portal. The portal is designed to help fans report all defamatory and malicious posts about our artists. The team assigned to the Portal actively monitors social media platforms for defamatory posts. Legal action will be taken against any post that violates our artists' rights, and all cases will be prosecuted without leniency. These are the same protections we take when malicious comments are made about any artist under Midas Labels."

"Dating has and never will be banned under NINETY9 Creative. My idols are free to date as they choose, but I always encourage them to keep private matters private. Not just to avoid upsetting their fans, but it's better for their mental health to keep their intimate relationships out of the spotlight." He tilts his head, chuckles to himself. "Besides, love is a powerful tool in songwriting. I encourage my artists to utilize their lived experiences in their work."

📱+ ydh + what would you do if one of the sodapop boys had a dating scandal????

"The boys are well aware of the consequences they'll face if they have a dating scandal. If the evidence is dismissible, we'll deny the relationship, pay off reporters to keep their mouths shut. The member involved in the dating scandal would have some of their individual schedules reduced, and tighter restrictions on their social media activity. Until the rumors quiet down, at least. If the scandal can be dismissed easily, we won't have to take any drastic measures. They can continue to promote with the group, and their restrictions will be lifted eventually. However, they may have to pay a penalty fee for breaking the terms of their contract." He folds his hands in his lap, tilts his head. "If the evidence can't be dismissed or suppressed, the member will be held responsible for the damage he's done to SODAPOP's image and branding. If the damage to their image is severe, their punishment will be proportionate."

📱 + kevin yoon: what’s a concept you would like to explore with either a current or future group?

"I want to expand more on NYMTH's lore. Artemis, the five egos — I'd like to continue exploring the themes we touched on Birth and Virtual Angel. The goal is to expand on those music videos — a continuation of those themes. Allowing NYMTH to grow into their own identity, separate from the world we built with SELENE. I want to do another cinematic music video like Birth." He pauses, looks to the floor. "That's if Taejoon okays that. He's unsure. Says he wants NYMTH to try something new. Something removed from the lore. We'll see how our next meeting goes." He looks back up, scratches at his chin. "I'd like to produce another girl group. Another one with an intricate worldview, but different from NYMTH's. Where NYMTH represents the moon, this group would represent the sea. Girls in search of an utopia. But I want to focus on NYMTH before I think about any new groups. I want to make sure they succeed this time around."
