Momo Yaoyorozu redesigns! She’s been redesigned by other artists before but I wanted to try my hand at it. I really love her character so much. More information on my redesign under the cut!

I recreated her costume design for obvious reasons, and I’m sure you’ve heard them all before, so I’m not going to focus on that here. 

The reason I made Momo heavier is what you’re probably wondering about right now. It’s simple. I feel like her current design is in no way practical for her quirk. She needs fat on her body in order to create things, and if she doesn’t have a lot of excess she is at risk of becoming severely underweight. Look at Momo’s canon design, however:

There looks like there isn’t an ounce of excess fat on her body, save for her breasts. 

This, to me, really proves how Momo was intentionally designed to be fanservice. It’s completely unrealistic to expect her to create so many things from so little fat cells. And before you come at me saying “it’s super powers it’s not supposed to be realistic!!” The author himself provided the fat cell explanation. He tries to make quirks viable if he can, like, for example, Bakugou’s quirk being caused by nitroglycerin sweat on his palms. The author could have her be able to create things from thin air if he wanted. But he chose to give a scientific explanation and then didn’t follow through with it. That’s what bothers me. 

Another thing that bothers me: The author does not give her quirk the obvious disadvantage: unbalanced weight. Think about it: if she pulls a sword out of her left leg and a cannon out of her right leg, obviously her right leg is going to be lighter now, because there’s less fat in it. Something she could struggle with is maintaining a balance of objects made from either side. But of course that potential is wasted. 

I’m gonna end this by saying: Fat Momo is still beautiful and athletic and intelligent. Don’t come on here with your fatphobia, thanks. :)
