Once upon a dream Sometimes I like to think about what it might have been like if Cas had actually been there to pull Dean from his grave.

I made the sketch for this about a year ago and then left it to rot on my ipad, I finally reworked the sketch and finished the drawing a few days ago! I love art noveau and I love Damen and Laurent, so of course I needed to put them together again!
I'm actually so so happy with how this turned out!! I just love working on eleborate pieces like this

Captive Prince is not smut. I need y'all to know that because it's fucking obvious. Captive Prince is a political fantasy (Idk if I can call it fantasy because yes it takes place in a make believe world, but it by no means has any fantastical elements besides that.) that talks about the politics of sex, sex slavery, and rape. Because C.S. Pacat knew that these things are political even if a lot of it should not be.
Captive Prince is a story that follows two princes, Laurent and Damen. Laurent and Damen have drastically different lives. I need y'all to know that. Their countries ideas of sex are drastically different. I need y'all to know that.
These books are not erotica because the "sex" y'all talk about is not sex until the very very end of the second book and the third book goes into what sex is. The "sex" in the first book and through the second book until the end, is rape.
C.S. Pacat did not write the first book and the second book to be some harem fantasy, he (C.S. Pacat is bigender and uses she/her and he/him pronouns) wrote it to show what sex can and cannot be and how, when abused for political reasons, what that would be. What she was trying to say was that sex is inherently political. Sex is political. I need y'all to know that.
Captive Prince is not smut or erotica, it's calling you out for thinking you were ever safe in how you express your body unless you get rid of the fucking system.
Because your body is political. The personal is political.

thinking (not for the first time) about destiel and nightmares.
i like to hc that in a post-canon situation where cas has become human, he gets nightmares CONSTANTLY cuz of all the yknow shit he's been through. i think hed often get like sleep paralysis type nightmares, or hed wake up in a panic attack, or at least partially dissociated. dean being shocked and panicked the first time he sees this happen because he only sees it start happening when they start sharing a motel room on hunts and cas hid it from him before. but dean having a little "game" to ground someone else or himself when they're dissociated like that that he learned when he was younger and using it to bring cas back. him asking cas if touch is ok and sometimes yes it is, and he might wrap his arms around cas and just hold him tight. but other times if its not, then dean might make cas a small cup of coffee and they'll settle back in bed and watch TV reruns together without a word.
and ofc i hc that dean gets nightmares (well tbf that's Actually canon but) and a lot as well. so cas waking him from his own and sitting with him after. i think dean after those often times needs touch to ground him. maybe he's a bit desperate to know that it was only a dream and he's really ok and the people he loves are ok. so sometimes they'll lay back down together. sometimes dean just needs to feel cas close, and cas will spoon him and if it doesn't help him sleep again then its at least a reminder that things are ok. other times what dean needs is proof cas is alive, so hell be the one holding cas with one hand reaching under his shirt to lay his palm against his chest and feel his heartbeat. a reminder that the dead man in his dreams isn't the one in his bed.
but nightmares dont cleanly take turns, and ofc there's nights where they're both having a bad night. it doesn't matter all that much who wakes first, but when they both end up awake, their little rituals to help ground each other are in utter silence. they don't really talk at all when this happens beyond whats necessary. but they sit with each other all night, sometimes watching TV reruns, sometimes cas attempting to continue the book he's currently reading. and when light filters in through the curtains, they get coffee and help make sure the other's pieces are back together.
