Accusing someone of talking about 5e d&d when complimenting Gygax's rules is insane. Like obviously it would have to be AD&D or earlier that would be being talked about, and those rules were superb for the time to the point that people are still imitating them today. Anyway, my addition to the post (I stumbled in here doing a writeup in the usual internet debating chuds about Gygax) is bringing up that time he quoted the perpetrator of the Sand Creek Massacre when someone asked about whether or not it would be lawful good for a paladin to slaughter orc children (the censored section in the middle was a prolonged description of torture as a crime punishment with a statement that alluded to him thinking that it was Good)

I love telling people that Gary gygax was a biological essentialist because they always are so reticent to believe it. Like. he literally proudly said it out loud. Also have you ever actually read D&D? like. 3/4ths of everything is ontologically evil from birth
