While in her full Thor getup, Jane knew she looked a lot more official than she was. Despite the fact that she worked with Avengers: Unity because it felt like a waste to not use her new connection to Mjölnir, Jane wasn't in charge. She wasn't calling the shots.
"More or less," she replied. "Why, are you looking for one?"
So this was what all the fuss was about: The Avengers Compound. It seemed sophisticated by human standards but the chaos running through the walls was another matter. The place reeked of anxiety and dread--a bunch of uncertain minds shadowed by even far more uncertain futures. Still, they gathered to try and save each other...it was refreshing. Druig had been around for centuries but he had never heard of humans assembling as global heroes, most of whom bestowed power beyond that of their majority. "Are you one of these Avengers, then?"

Jane had a PhD in astrophysics. She had written books, been nominated for a Nobel Prize. Her accomplishments were plenty, but none of them prepared her for what the girl was saying. Some of it made sense. Darcy was probably to thank for that. She'd spent far too long trying to get Jane to join the app, but Jane just couldn't find the time. "I have a Facebook? I don't update it, but I have it."
"C'mon, you haven't heard that sound? Wait, you do have a tik tok, right?---don't tell me you're still on x..."

"So I'm guessing you don't want an explanation?"
"If someone says multiverse like I'm supposed to know what it means one more time, I think I'm gonna get hostile."

"That is a very long story." From under her helmet, Thor looked to the hammer that she had left on the table. "Don't try to lift it."
"what is that!?"

"You've got taste." Jane usually listened to classical, but she could appreciate a change.
"Don't you touch that radio--" steve warned. It was playing some old blues song, everyone kept telling him to download an app but he liked the scratchy static that came through the speakers. it added a bit of character. sue him for being a little nostalgic.

Jane complied, quickly sliding the kit over to the very wounded man. "Looks like you've seen better days. Or is this the norm?"

"hey, wanna hand me that first aid kit?"

"All this change is a lot, isn't it?" Jane was in her own reality and her own time period, but things had certainly been different for her. Thor going missing, her getting the hammer, the recent diagnosis. It was a lot to process. "We're all going to need very good coping mechanisms to get through this."
"First I'm in a new time period and then I'm in a new reality. I'm nervous to find out what's coming next."

It was the strangest thing to see a Darcy who wasn't her Darcy. Jane knew about the multiverse. She understood the concept of variants. Having an understanding didn't make it any less weird. Jane paused a second, her mind recalibrating as it acknowledged the fact that this Darcy seemingly didn't know her. "Uh, browsing." Jane tried to smile. "Looking around. Is that okay?"
"hi--welcome to the emporium! howcanihelpyou." the last bit rushed out of her. darcy totally hadn't been smoking in the back and barely heard the door open. not at all.
