I notice people tend to only focus on Yan Wushi's affection towards Shen Qiao cause it's the more obvious one of the two Yan Wushi doesn't tend to feel any need to hide his emotions like. At all but I absolutely live for the little moments in the extras where Shen Qiao shows his fondness of Yan Wushi. The small, subtle smiles, moments where Shen Qiao laughs at something Yan Wushi says. He's a reserved person already, and while Shen Qiao does get flustered, he also doesn't generally startle easily when it comes to come ons (see his calm rejections of other people who have liked him) but since Yan Wushi does happen to be a uniquely infuriating person - it's quite sweet to see when Shen Qiao's affection does peak through, rare as it is.
Give me glimpses of the Shen Qiao that is so outwardly exasperated on the daily, but would go to the ends of the Earth for his partner. Give me glimpses of the Shen Qiao that can't help admiring the tenacious, stubborn, confident arrogant aspects of Yan Wushi, despite them believing in such diametrically opposed ideologies. Give me glimpses of the Shen Qiao that marvels in their similarities and differences. Give me glimpses of the Shen Qiao that's so exasperated by Yan Wushi's nonsense that he just has to laugh. Give me glimpses of the Shen Qiao that fell in love with Yan Wushi, against all odds.
I love it.

Spoilers for Thousand Autumns Volumes 3 and 4!!!
I didn't pay attention to it the first time I read Thousand Autumns, but during my reread it's obvious that Xie Ling and A-Yan knew that Yan Wushi loved Shen Qiao from the start.
Tumblr media
Art by @_Konia_; reposted with permission.
It's fairly obvious that Xie Ling is infatuated with Shen Qiao immediately because his gaze never leaves Shen Qiao and Xie Ling trusts him completely:
Yan Wushi only looked at him, his eyes filled entirely with Shen Qiao’s reflection. “I’ll be taking your pulse.” Shen Qiao lifted his wrist, and Yan Wushi didn’t respond to that either, letting Shen Qiao handle him as he wished. But his eyes remained fixed on Shen Qiao—whether Shen Qiao was hunched over or sitting upright, Yan Wushi’s gaze never left him. ...Just as Shen Qiao was furrowing his brows and pondering, Yan Wushi suddenly smiled at him. This smile was different from those faint half smiles from the past, and lacked any sense of sarcasm, ridicule, or unbridled arrogance. It was simply a smile, nothing more, as if it weren’t Shen Qiao in front of him, but a beautiful flower. (vol. 3, pg. 85-6)
A-Yan tells Shen Qiao, "...I understand why my previous self treated you the way he did. He’s a paranoid person at heart, someone who’d never trust anyone else. No matter how good you are, he’d always want to bring out the darkness hidden within you. But he doesn’t know that you are you. There may be hundreds of thousands of Chen Gongs in this world, but there is only one Shen Qiao." (vol. 3, pg. 135)
Yan Wushi notices that, "There was still a hint of remaining warmth within his chest, left there by Xie Ling and A-Yan, from their feelings whenever they thought about Shen Qiao. But at this moment, Yan Wushi forcefully wiped it away..." He doesn't consider the the thoughts and feelings from the other parts of his personality to be his own." (vol. 3, pg. 142)
There's also the scene where Xie Ling tries to kiss Shen Qiao:
...Yan Wushi abruptly seized Shen Qiao’s neck, then he threw himself closer and bit down on his lips! In pain, Shen Qiao snaked his arm around Yan Wushi’s neck and struck hard. The other man fell limply on top of him. It was finally quiet. Shen Qiao let out a sigh of relief. He picked up Yan Wushi’s wrist and felt it, then let out a gasp of surprise. If the man had just been in the throes of qi deviation earlier, then now, only a short time later, his pulse had completely calmed. In contrast, his life force even seemed to be thriving? (vol. 3, pg. 225)
When Yan Wushi is back to his normal personality, he commented on the unskilled kiss: "What, did Xie Ling even forget how to kiss someone after losing most of my memories? He was so impatient he even bit you?" (vol. 3, pg. 232) Yan Wushi knows immediately that Xie Ling has feelings for Shen Qiao, but he doesn't realize his own feelings yet.
Later, Yan Wushi admits to himself that Xie Ling and A-Yan's thoughts where his own as well, and that's what leads to the confession scene:
Yan Wushi smiled but didn’t speak. Before, he’d loathed “Xie Ling’s” influence, thinking that those thoughts weren’t his own. He’d tried to suppress that strange feeling numerous times, and he’d believed that the moment he repaired the flaw in the demonic core, that feeling would vanish with it. He hadn’t expected that Shen Qiao’s smile would reawaken everything. He was unwilling to admit that he, who’d looked down upon everyone in the world, would one day find that a name had wormed its way into his heart. Human hearts were filled with malice. Some people were traitors, turning their backs on all integrity; some were ingrates, repaying kindness with enmity. There were also those who’d abandon their spouses, who were willing to do anything for wealth and glory. Yan Wushi had seen many, and he’d thought nothing of them because he, too, was a selfish, callous human. He only categorized things based on whether they deserved his notice, and to him, there were no actions that fell beyond a line that could not be crossed. However, now Yan Wushi was forced to admit that Shen Qiao was unique and that he couldn’t change him. Though the world was vast, there was still only one Shen Qiao. “My venerable self suddenly thought of something amusing,” he said. “Would you like to listen?” “No,” said Shen Qiao. Yan Wushi turned a deaf ear and started talking anyway. “Once upon a time, there was a man who found a stone in a heap of gold and jewels.” Shen Qiao’s mouth twitched. Didn’t he just say that he didn’t want to listen? “But he couldn’t believe that it was only an ordinary stone. He thought that since it’d been piled together with the mass of treasures in that room, it must also be a treasure. So, he brought it everywhere with him, and even had it examined and polished by many. But every single person, without exception, told him that it was only an ordinary stone, that there was nothing special about it. Guess what happened in the end?” Shen Qiao’s face was both lost and bewildered. “In the end, he finally believed that it was indeed a worthless stone. But in his eyes, compared to the room full of gold and silver treasure, even if it was only a stone, it was still one of a kind—a stone out of a million.” Shen Qiao was silent. Why did this story sound so bizarre? It was indeed unusual to hear such a normal story from such an abnormal person. He couldn’t help but say, “Even thousands of gold pieces cannot purchase happiness. Some people care little for wealth—they only wish to seek out things that other people find worthless. In my opinion, that man already liked that stone more than the other jewels and treasures, but he was trapped by his preconceptions and unwilling to admit it.” Yan Wushi laughed. “That’s true, you’re very correct. Thousands of gold pieces cannot purchase happiness." There seemed to be a deep significance within these words. (vol. 4, pg. 58-60)

The first two to three novels of Thousand Autumns/Qian Qiu is just Shen Qiao and Yan Wushi going "I can fix him" at each other, and then completely failing. And I think that's very sexy of them.

Hey, thanks for the nice words! I don't know if I can really call it a review at all, more like just my immediate kinda random thoughts, but your kind and encouraging words sure makes me glad. And also thanks for the info, I'll definitely check out peerless!
I finished reading Thousand Autumns
And I actually really loved it!?
I finally had some vacation from uni which made me read the book, and after svsss it's the 2nd book I finished. My rant post about svsss (basically me complaining without understanding the whole thing lol but I was enlightened) got some unexpected attention that scared me a bit (girlie got social anxiety) but now that I finished another book I do want to talk about it again so here I am haha
[Spoiler alert]
Tumblr media
I watched the animation beforehand which is the main reason that made me read the book, I really wanted to know the rest. So when I got time I dived into it. Although the first 2 volumes were really hard to read for me since the animation covered the first 2 books more or less (but I still didn't want to miss out on anything which may have gotten censored from the donghua).
I breezed through the last 3 volumes, and even tho the politics outweighed the romance aspect of the novel, I didn't mind it. In the end, I've really come to respect Yan Wushi a lot.
I loved that the one who went through the most character development was Shen Qiao, with the help of YW, not YW himself. But at the same time, SQ remained the same pure and kind inside, not tainted by YW's evilness. And for YW, he never changed himself, stayed true to himself, but SQ was the one and only exception to his true beliefs, he came to adore SQ, and in the end he made himself to compromise on little things to stay by SQ's side on his own volition.
I loved how YW knew that SQ feels the same way as him, but couldn't actually realize it because of his pride, so he made such a perfectly meticulous and grand scheme to make SQ understand his feelings, ultimately making himself caught in YW's trap voluntarily lmaooo, and I was like- wow that's so genius of him??
But apart from the romance, I didn't think I would also love reading about politics so much as well in the novel. Although I think I have to credit YW for that, because of how intelligent and scheming he's always been when it came to involving himself with the politics and the relevant people. SQ caught this talent of YW very early on and knew even tho YW makes himself a villain what he does is ultimately better for people so he never failed to support him and I always loved how they discussed politics together till the very end, I was always entertained by their serious but lighthearted talks. I do wish I could know more about the future of the dynasties but I knew whatever happened our power couple grandmasters will always support the better leader while not involving themselves way too much than necessary, which is also such a smart tactic.
When I watched the animation, I thought YW can't be that evil, that bad, he probably sent SQ to Sang jingxing because he knew it may fix SQ's martial arts ultimately. I don't know why I thought like this, but no, he really wanted SQ to suffer, to make him miserable. I think this is the part where people might hate YW, but in the end I just couldn't hate him. SQ could never really hate him, being the kind person he is, but he still was always wary. YW never truly regretted his past actions, he's always been true to himself, although SQ's wariness when he was pursuing him probably made him regret a little bit lol. But YW is too good with his words and teasing, and I really enjoyed how he made SQ speechless everytime with his shameless words (and also actions). But in the end they both accepted each other's personality and their relationship looked really sweet to me from the side stories I was squealing.
Ah but YW's personality switch arc was kinda weird for me. Although I too absolutely adored little Xie Ling, and even I cried with Shen Qiao when YW said XL won't appear anymore. But still that multiple personality change was weird, but that's just me.
Anyways ShenYan kept me satisfied till the end.
(I do wish we had more about Yu Shengyan x Yuan Ying and Gu Hengbo x Yuan Zixiao)

Of course you have the right to be irritated, I'm sorry again and thank you for accepting my apology. And yes from the 6 volumes of Erha I got to read last month during my vacation, I did indeed feel even more than I asked for, I love it so much already and looking forward to finish the rest of it when I get time.
So I finished reading a danmei novel for the very first time (it's SVSSS)
Tumblr media
Spoiler Alert
(And incoming rant...)
So I just finished reeading the volume 4 of SVSSS, and even before i finished it i knew i have to talk about it and let my thoughts out somehow and here we are. My danmei journey started not too long ago with MDZS donghua before i found myself buying physical copies of SVSSS. Although my first novel was 2ha but I read till volume 6 to keep it on hold and finished this one instead.
Now that i am done, before i make it too long i will just leave some snippets of audacious thoughts here which may or may not be agreed upon -
I really wanted to like LBH, but in the end I just couldn't, some parts and traits of his character just don't sit well with me. I mainly hate his manipulative part, and I just don't understand why someone like Shen Yuan/SQQ falls for it again and again.
Zhuzhi lang is indeed a lovable character, but I just can't forgive him for killing Gongyi Xiao. The only time I shed tears while reading this novel was when we hear about his death and how SQQ was then remembering how GYX told him he would visit his peak after everything is over. (I was still holding on to that hope that he will be miraculously alive *sob*)
I found Tianlang-Jun to be a decent character, even more decent than his own son. I mean, yeah LBH went through traumatic periods but TLJ also went through miserable times while sealed. But in the end he just let all of it go while his son kept getting jealous and vicious towards every human being close to SQQ.
SQH and MBJ is a good ship. I would love to know more about them I need more Moshang content (this everyone will agree i know)
In that one interview chapter at volume 4 SQH's comment about Bingqiu being the kindergartner and his teacher, I can't agree more. Also his comment about how dating LBH must be exhausting and annoying was so true that I just don't understand why SQQ accepts all this 😭😭
I wish I could learn more about Liu Mingyan's thought process while writing Regrets of Chunshan.
I saw a Youtube comment that said - "In SVSSS, almost every character can be shipped with SQQ" and I couldn't agree more! SQQxYQY, SQQxLQG and etc. all are good ship material.
I felt like there were more background plots that could be explored (like what happened to Huan Hua Palace after, or how TLJ was doing, or some more info and background about certain characters etc). In this way I feel like Shen Yuan, heh
The novel art is pretty, but the way LBH was described about his looks and beauty, I somehow didn't feel it through the art. My fav character ranking according to art would be Tianlang Jun→Mobei Jun→SQQ, even though I really like curly hair.
At this point people might think I am a LBH hater, but really I am not, or at least I don't want to be. But I just really think SQQ deserved a better peaceful life at CQ Mountain, around his disciples and sect brothers that really adore him like a family. I really hated the ending in Vol 3 where SQQ left the mountain with LBH in this respect. Well at least in vol 4 it said that the two come to the mountain from time to time so I guess I can calm down a bit.
I really, really like Shen Qingqiu. He's a diva. But I just don't understand...some of his choices. But I guess I will just leave it at that.
This is my first time finishing a danmei novel as I mentioned already, so please go easy on me, even though I may have said things that might spark an argument. Overall I think it was a good experience and I'm looking forward to reading more novels. Feel free to give me some recommendations!

Ohhhh....that makes sense! Seems like I hadn't understood SQQ deep enough after all. Thank you for explaining it so well !!

Hey! I'm so sorry that you have to come across this thing i wrote on your fav character tag. I just wanted to put my thoughts out there just after reading the book, but I'm still sorry that it made you upset. One thing I can say is that I definitely don't have the free time you speak of to read a book just to hate on the main couple. I read the book because I was interested and the thing wrote over here is just what I thought after finishing it. I can have my own opinion, can't I? Yeah, I think I do lack reading comprehension like you said, but it's just I try to feel things, and I couldn't feel the things I wanted to feel between the main couple most of the time (even tho I actually liked them in the first 2 volumes), to me it sometimes felt weird, and being so manipulative is a trait I hate the most in any person, so basically it's just me and my preference so you don't have to bother yourself with my opinion. Also I can really like a character but also dislike certain aspects of them, no? Well in the end it's all fiction and it's just the way it is, so what I say won't ever matter, hating the main couple who the story focuses on was never a logical option anyway; and I still enjoyed and spent a good time reading, even tho it took a long while to finish because of my busy schedule (and um, you really won't be jealous anymore if you actually knew how my life is like, I hope you don't say things like that to anyone else even as a joke without knowing anything)
P.S: I'm not even a regular here, just write or reblog something one or two times a year and dip. Don't even know how to use this app but I hope this is the correct way to reply 😭😭 Anyways I'm sorryyy okayyy??

I'm not even finished with 2ha and I already second that
I love Chu Wanning more than my life. Someone should study the obsession 2ha readers have with this man and why everyone wants him to be pregnant
