Usually don’t talk much about my feelings, theories or headcanons, but Figment and Figment 2 have been on my mind lately. There’s not much posts going around on both games, so i've decided to give it a shot, for once. Also because, i’ve noticed that many (me included) seem confused about what the Jester is supposed to represent. Most seem to think they represent fun or the part of you that want to have fun, which is true. Still, i believe there might be more to it than just that..?  

(Warning : Spoilers for Figment 2 : Creed Valley and a little for Figment also)

This is just me speculating, but all throughout the game, the Jester constantly talks about ‘’breaking out’’ and, most importantly, the ‘’urge to be free’’. To me, it feels like the emphasis on those themes aren't only to reflect how the Jester is feeling, but might also be related to what they're all about. Especially the line: '' You can fight the urge to be free but you can never kill it!''. When saying that, it sounds like they're referring to themself, like this is what they are... So, are they the '"urge to be free"? Perhaps, more specifically, "free will"?

Maybe i’m overthinking this…

But there’s another reason i’m inclined to think that the Jester might be "free will" or, at the very least, tied in a way to the concept of "freedom". These concept art from the first game :

It seems that both the Black Hog and the Jester were conceived during the production of the first game, but ended up being scrapped. Puppets with ropes like these (Marionettes) often symbolise a "lack of free will" and cutting the ropes can represents "being free/set free" (the famous line from Pinocchio: "There are no strings on me", comes to mind). IF this puppet like thing is a unused version of the Jester, of course.

(Also, no joke, the first pics you get if you type free will on google images are a bunch of marionettes, lol.)

Again, just speculating here, but i wonder if perhaps it was planned for them to be controlled by the Spider Queen. "Marionette" is a french word and the Spider Queen is french/has a french accent. It could also explain why instead of using webs, like the other spiders, she’s attached to a rope....

But yeah, this is why i believe the Jester might be related in some way to freedom or might even be ''free will''. Maybe i'm completely wrong, but it's fun to theorise.

I have more thoughts and details i've noticed that i would like to share, but i don't want this post to be too long.

So, i recently played and finished the game ''Figment'' and it's sequel ''Figment 2: Creed Valley'' and i loved them! Really charming puzzle/adventure games that i honestly believe deserves more recognition.

The characters are, from left to right: Dusty (the main character), the Jester and Piper. (I love these three so much 😭)

Been doodling some ideas for fan pokémons/fakemons recently and since today is Pokémon Day... And since i haven’t posted anything in a long time...

These are just rough ideas and the colors aren’t defenitive in any way

(Also, the Spheal’s variant is loosely based off ‘’Kotora’’, aka the best scrapped pokémon design ever, to me)

Reqqui (the shark) is doing a virtual presentation for work, but Myriam (the cat) keeps playing with the camera.

Had a really good time working on this one (and spent way to long adding pointless details, lol)! I created Reqqui and Myriam when i was around twelve, so yeah, these two are some of my oldest ocs.

A little exercise i did last month. Basically, you take two colors and three adjectives and you try to design a character based off of those.

I also added an auto-generated sprite from this really really cool website, since i saw other artists used them as inspiration to create characters and i thought it would be fun to try.

Decided to redesign these old OCs. 

I defenitely prefer their new look. I also managed to fleshed out more their personalities and the world they live in. There’s also lot more characters that I’ve added to the story (like the Ciara, the little goat/faun kid), though i haven’t finished drawing/redesigning most of them yet. In fact, the main protagonist isn’t even any of these guys lol!

So, expect a part two with the rest of the cast very soon!

Last year, on Halloween, i was also disguised as one of the Lost Spirits from Everhood! Hand-sewn the costume myself. It was fun!

Bunch of old Everhood doodles from last year, that i had completely forgot to post online.

Everhood is a good game and it honestly deserves more recognition. Playing it also helped me feel better at a time where i was.... Let’s just say, not doing too well mentally, haha!

If possible, i would love to draw a more proper/more polished fan art for it later. Also, my fav character is Brown Mage and i need to draw them more lol.

This year was... weird and draining, honestly. I didn’t do as much as i wanted to, but i’m still proud of myself, at least. Gotta praticed doing more backgrounds/landscapes for next year, though.

As you can see, there’s also some stuff i haven’t posted yet and that i might post here later.

One of my cats (Piko) really like the Orko plush I made. She often rubs herself on it and like to sleep with it (the downside is that now the plush is covered with her fur lol). So it inspired me to draw this.

(Also, I swear that her name sounding similar to Orko is a coincidence)

Hand-made Orko plushie i did 4-5 months ago. I’m still a beginner when it comes to sewing, so this was quite a challenge. The hat was a pain haha…

Still, i’m pretty proud and happy with how he came out!
