You are still being dubbed by a russian youtuber Рейдер. So, you are still kinda famous on his YouTube channel.
Hmm… Well, I can’t say I’m surprised–but, as far as I know, there are no longer any ongoing dubs of my comic. I noticed I have some new folks reading and wondered if a new part had come out (since sudden burst of readers=new dub release), only to find the channel that was doing it has moved on to other things. Which, is totally understandable, I don’t fault them for pursuing other projects.
But uh… I guess if you were looking forward to more dubbed Unexpected Guests, well, we’ll have to see if someone picks up where that one left off, or starts anew. Or, it may be that my comic is a little too long to really be feasible as a voice-acted series XD
I am a little disappointed–I liked seeing my comic brought to life in a whole new way, and how a different audience reacted to the story. I hope people who were watching the dub manage to find their way to the rest of the comic, and aren’t left thinking it ended without a resolution.
And, well… I hope it does get a full dub someday. As long as people ask me and link back to the original, I’m pretty open to things like dubs and translations.
I guess I just wanted to let people know and share my thoughts on the matter–and now I’m wondering where the new readers are coming from. If you see this–hello, welcome, and I hope you’re enjoying the story ^^

I had some thoughts about Gaster and now it's connected with a new thoughts... First of all, after tiny bunny's question about a nature of skeleton monster, I even more concerned that they is a specie of Undertale-Deltarune's undead (skeletons possessed with ghosts, to be clear and ghosts is a human souls, which refused to die but because of lack of bodies were forced to spend most part of the willpower to transform into a bodyless monster). Second Gaster was very, VERY overconfident because he thought that his nature would allow him hold more determination, than any other monster could ever posses. Third, because of the second, he was sure, that he'll succeed in taking fate into his own hands, by creating a determination fueled time-space machine, that only he of all monsters could use, and using it to become some kind of a prophecy-angel or a God, or just go back to the surface to his own family. Fourth, he failed and shattered across time and space, and, probably, transformed into some kind of a skeleton family. If the plot is in him actually creating a Deltarune world, then, maybe, he did it to show us despair, to show that even our choices doesn't matter, until there's someone above us (even if it's just a game), to hurt our feelings, because the only thing he can do to ease his own grief is to find understatement in someone above him.
Ok I’d love to hear you elaborate on that recent gaster post because that makes a TON of sense.
I think that gaster is rebelling against the world that created him, and he is urging others to do the same. Jevil seems to be absolutely on cloud nine after the Gaster encounter, he is free! When it comes to spamton I think that the information broke him, causing him to spiral. I don’t think gaster is malicious, I think he wants as much people to rebel against us as possible!
[last night's post]
for anyone concerned, i did manage to fall asleep after i made the post XD
But, it was kind of me just stream-of-consciousness sharing thoughts that have occurred to me before, but since I can't articulate them into an entire theory, it's just pieces of gaster in a larger whole that are very interesting when you put them together
I just... don't even know how to articulate everything without making a giant post I don't even know if I have the patience for! It's just... bits and pieces that don't all have places yet.
But, yeah. The gist of what I think might be going on is that through his studies, Gaster realized his world was... maybe not fake, maybe not that it was a game, but... not what it seemed to be on the surface. And he realized the people in it were not in as much control of their own destinies as they thought. And he wanted to do something about that. To remove this meddling force.
I don't know which version of him discovered this. Is Gaster originally from the world of Undertale? The fact that he built the Core seems to imply this. But why then is he so much more involved in Deltarune? Why is he so eager to connect with us, as the presumable force he's fighting against? Is it to find some way of defeating us? Is he even the Knight? The worlds of Deltarune and Undertale are deeply connected, that much is clear to me, but is it directional? Did the existence of one lead to the creation of the other? Or are they truly parallel?
I have too many ideas and too many pieces of potential evidence, but no way of organizing it, and we don't even have the full story yet :"D

This theory seems extremely likely to me. Would be a good conflict if at some point some character(s?) must [DIE], but we'll get a "choice", which won't matter, because Kris and Susie will try to save them anyway. However, according to script if we'll try to be cold, then Kris'll fail at saving the person, but if Kris'll succeed, then Ralsei's backup plan will kill the character. Ralsei will be calm in a face of other's death in both situations (well in a second one he'll be kinda sus), so it'll be a point where Susie's suspicion towards Ralsei will born.
Deltarune Theory: Ralsei is a guide for the script
It feels crazy that Deltarune Chapter 2 has only been out for like, what, two weeks? As of the time I’m writing this, and yet, there has already been so much secret hunting and speculation over this. Not even the full game, and people already go crazy over it. Naturally, I am part of this craze. In fact I was one of the people that played it as soon as it dropped.
And, I thought it was only me, but, at least for a little while, Ralsei’s behavior struck me as… odd. Not outwardly malicious, but just… odd. Particularly the first bit of the game, it was just so… happy and convenient? And Ralsei was at the center of it all, orchestrating it, making sure everything happened accordingly.
Eventually, that initial feeling of distrust went away, but… not quite. And it seems a lot of people began to feel the same way, pointing out bits about Ralsei that are just… out of place. Things that didn’t seem to stand out in the first chapter, are now popping out about him.

To be fair, he deals a good damage with a scarf (I'm don't think that damage beyond 20 is expected from a soft scarf) and strong enough to carry Susie and Kris when Queen used her mech.

Also Gaster "fell" (both literally and symbolically) in a Hotland, which is a place, that in some aspects can be described as a stereotype of Hell. Other than that, Jevil is metamorphosing into a Devilsknife, which is a scythe - classical weapon of a skeletons who's taking an appearance of Death.
Thinking about the line “the pain itself is reason why” from that comic, and how it’s a possible interpretation of part of “Lorem ipsum”, a piece of corrupted Latin text that’s commonly used to test the appearance of typefaces and fonts.
Looking up the original text, and seeing that it’s about the balancing of pleasure and pain, and how people may endure some tolerable pain to obtain a greater reward, and how some, in the heedless pursuit of pleasure, ignore the potential consequences of their actions.
Thinking about Gaster, in the pursuit of knowledge or some goal we have yet to realize, shattered across time and space.
thinking about how the memoryheads quote “lorem ipsum”.

How are we going to add Spamton here?
Tumblr media
We never talk about the 3 skull shaped amalgamates or the fact that they are literally connected to their phones/ communicate threw them. Or about how Papyrus will answer his phone no matter what time it is or what he’s doing.
What if he’s waiting for a very specific call about a very extended vacation is all i’m saying.

Well some stuff about King is not working anymore, but the whole theory is still can be truthful.
Rouxls is Hiding Something Big: A Deltarune Theory
Tumblr media
FORENOTE- For some needed context, it may help reading my previous Deltarune theory here for important details that I will cover in this post. (My previous theory provides notable evidence on why Gaster is indeed the “Knight” figure talked about by multiple characters in Deltarune.)
Now, this is going to sound crazy. But after much time of poring over and analyzing Deltarune, I have come to a conclusion. One that I’ve been convinced of for awhile now. Something that’s been lying right under all of our noses without many of us even realizing it. We have all been bamboozled. Hoodwinked. Tricked. Why, you may ask?
Because the comically stupid and inept Duke of Puzzles is actually… not an idiot. No, he’s the complete opposite. He is a downright mastermind.
As collective players, we are all falling into the same trap once again. Putting faith into a character’s preconceived personality !
Tumblr media
When their true personality turns out the complete opposite of what we expected…
Tumblr media
It is here, my evidence for this claim begins—and we delve into the true identity of Rouxls Kaard. Buckle up everyone, cause this one’s gonna be a fun ride. 👀
So, to spill the beans up front, and get it over with. I believe Rouxls Kaards identity… is none other than W.D. Gaster in disguise.
Now. I didn’t immediately become invested in this theory—I was skeptical at first like everyone else. But, once I began examining Deltarune and all of its characters a bit closer…things weren’t exactly adding up about the Duke of Puzzles.
Point #1: Anagrams
I initially began to become suspicious of Rouxls Kaard because of his odd name. Sure, it is a play on the words of the term, “Rules card”. But it is spelt in such a peculiar way. If it were just simply a play on words, I think that there would be a much better way of going about spelling it rather than just jumbling a bunch of random letters together. There is a very intriguing reddit post found here that goes more into depth about his name that ties well into my theory. The thing that stood out to me in particular, is that Rouxls’s name is actually also an anagram for “A Dark Soul RX”, (with the left over RX typically being used in terms relating to doctors/medicine.) Not only is Gaster a Doctor, but he’s also always associated with darkness and the research of souls. Toby loves his anagrams—so I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if this was intentional. But it doesn’t end there.
I’ve noticed that Toby Fox has a tendency to tease certain things about his games through merch. And wouldn’t you know it—he has in fact, a particular item on fangamer of a “dark heart.” One which description describes the Angel’s Prophecy. Hm…
But let’s back on track onto my second observation, shall we?
Point #2: The Physical Resemblance to Gaster
Now, there seems to be some interesting foreshadowing related to inverted colors in Deltarune. Before Ralsei takes his hat off, he appears black. But once he takes his hat off, voila, his colors are inverted, and he is revealed to actually be a white goat highly resembling Asriel.
In addition, the entire Dark World is literally just. An inverted version of a normal world.
The Dark World could have hypothetically been the created world/experiment that Gaster had fallen into in the first place. After all, his experiment had to do with “darkness”, and “negative” photons–AKA the Dark Fountains, and the negatively/inverted landscapes of the Dark World.
And how does Rouxls Kaard appear inverted anyways? Well, he looks like THIS.
Tumblr media
He even has the strange dangling lip thing—which another character said to directly resemble Gaster, Seam, has as well:
Tumblr media
In addition, if you look at Rouxls’ text-box profile very closely, his eye colors are actually mismatched which is a rather interesting detail!
Point # 3: His Accent is Extremely put on.
I think anybody that has read any sort of Shakespearean/Old English writing, can instantly realize that Rouxls is as bad as imitating an Old English accent as a high-schooler reading Hamlet for the first time. Rouxls absolutely butchers it. He practically adds eth, and est at the end of any word he chooses, and calls the job done. What is even more interesting though, is when he gets nervous or panicked, he drops the act all together and talks normally.
Tumblr media
Point #4: He is Pretending to be Dumb; His Puzzles are Actually Impressive!
I found it intriguing how there are countless puzzle traps in all the forest areas and in the Card Castle prison that were actually very well done. You have to flip the spades, diamonds, hearts, etc to unlock doors, and open secret chests. They require a decent amount of thinking skills, and are actually competent. But who made them?? Oddly enough if you observe one of them in the forest areas, it appears that Rouxls Kaard vandalized one of the puzzles to make it harder for the player to beat it—which further implies that he actually indeed made those puzzles himself. This shows that Rouxls is much more competent than only being able to make a single box shove puzzle that is comically easy. Where else do we see a place full of plenty of rather well made puzzles + traps seen? All throughout the Core in Undertale—a place which Gaster himself created!
Point #5: Rouxls IS Aware the World is a Game–AKA DON’T FORGET TO READ NPC DIALOGUE FOLKS!
I think it is well aware by now that Rouxls likely wants us as the players to underestimate him–and deem him a fool so we wouldn’t bat an eye at what he’s actually up to. But the most biggest give away to this is something that I have surprisingly seen no one mention at all. And oh boy, it is the most damning evidence that Rouxls is no idiot to be trifled with.
To the left of Seam’s shop, there can be found a little group of former puzzle-makers that used to live at Card Castle, until they were fired and replaced with Rouxls Kaard. They are now all out of a job, and are just barely scraping by since the Spade King didn’t give them any severance pay. However, Rouxls Kaard offered them a way to get money–by selling the tutorials he made.
These tutorials go over TP, stats, information about Susie, Ralsei,  and Kris. Rouxls Kaard has never once met any of the players yet–and he knows everything about them. He knows about stats. He knows the world is a game.
HOW??
In addition, when you talk to Rouxls in his shop, he calls you three the Heroes of Legend. He is well aware of the Angel’s Prophecy. He knows.
Whenever any character in the world of Undertale & Deltarune knows that the world is a game, it is an instant red-flag. It goes to show that they know much more than they let on. Flowey and Sans are big examples of this in Undertale. Pure hearted, dorky idiots that we trust earlier in the game–but wind up seeing the real side of them later on.
…So why should we treat Rouxls any differently?
Point #6: The “Control Crown”
Something that I immediately thought was kind of weird, was the fact that Rouxls Kaard was able to control the K. Round with a “Control Crown” device. If he is so stupid, how was he able to create a full on mechanical device that can brainwash a life-form into being violent/cause it to triple in size?! That is genius material right there!
But things start to take on a much darker side when you begin to look at the subtext of this realization, which I will get to in a moment…
First of all, Seam claimed these exact words.
Tumblr media
The remaining king was the Spade King– as the King of Hearts, Diamonds, and Clubs are seen to be locked up in the Dungeon. Therefore, the Spade King put the Knight, and his strange son into power. IF it were the Spade King in power, the dialogue box WOULD have said “himself”. Therefore, the Knight, and his strange son were put in place to control the kingdom. And who are they?
Gaster/Rouxls Kaard, and Lancer.
Evidence to back this up:
Lancer calls Rouxls his “Lesser Dad”. And Rouxls calls Lancer, his Strange little darling/son.
The Spade King is not in charge. During his boss-fight, he states that he obeys the word of the Knight.
If you observe more of Lancer’s dialogue in the scene right before the gang enters Card Castle, he states that his dad, (Spade King), recently forced his troops to listen to Lancer instead. Therefore, Lancer is by all respects actually second in command to the Knight.
One of Rouxls main interests is...Lawmaking. Even though he is just supposedly an innocent Duke of Puzzles.
Another one of Rouxls main interests is…Cages, and long strolls in the dungeon…
There are innocent puzzle-makers locked up in the Prison who are terrified–they were arrested for the simple act of making a puzzle without a license. HM, I wonder who could have possibly locked them up? *Wink wink nudge nudge*
And what ties this all together, is perhaps the most obscure, tiniest detail that no one would have likely observed on a first play-through. If you go to the first floor of Card Castle and click the description tablet next to the elevator to the Prison, it claims that the Prison used to just be a Basement Which Just Happened to Have a Lot of Cages. This is backed up by the caged animals in the basement, who say that they miss the “good old days” when they used to be the only ones there in cages, and not a bunch of people behind bars.
In summary, Rouxls is locking up a bunch of innocent people, and playing nice to our faces. He IS the knight. And he is not to be underestimated.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Point #7: Rouxls’ Plan is Already Set in Place
The part where this theory gets a little dark, ties back to my mentioning of the control crown earlier.
If you observe the throne room, it looks like it was recently torn apart in a sort of…conflict.
Tumblr media
Why was the Spade King the only king left un-caged to begin with? Why wasn’t he locked up too?
Well…Rouxls Kaard needed someone to put him in charge. But not only that—he needed a scapegoat. Someone to blame. Someone to be “The Bad Guy” for the Heroes to fight.
The Spade King…is actually innocent. He is obeying the Knight, because he is being controlled by a Control Crown. The throne room is in ruins because the Spade King likely fought against this at first, but Rouxls won and successfully put the Spade King under his command. I thought it was strange how the King was so…violent. So irredeemably evil, and even murderous toward his own son Lancer. Yes, it could be argued that this is indeed his true personality, that he is a complete, abusive jerk. But, the whole ending battle of Deltarune chapter 1 feels so…set up in a way? It feels so starkly good vs evil, black and white. Almost like a play.
And oh boy. I think I was onto something.
If you pay close attention to the fight with the Spade King, there is a brief moment at the beginning where he is completely shrouded in shadow. Except. For. His. Crown. It glows stark white in comparison to himself. Like a Chekov’s Gun if you will.
And even more interesting, in the supposed good/pacifist ending, the Spade King is locked up in Prison, the other three kings are still locked up in cages, everyone else is freed, and Rouxls and Lancer now have full control of the kingdom…
Guys. We just played right into Gaster’s hands.
Point #8: Seam Knows that Rouxls is the Knight…
The final observation that genuinely makes me convinced in this theory, is a small detail I noticed at the end of the Pacifist run of Deltarune. Once you have beaten the game, and all of the prisoners are freed, everyone comes to celebrate at Card Castle for your victory. Everyone, except for Seam. That is because Seam knows what the “Strange Knight” did to Jevil. He knows who the Strange Knight is. And he knows what the Knight’s true intentions are.
Point #9: Extra Tidbits I noticed:
When compared to the other denizens of card castle, Rouxls seems out of place. He is the one vaguely humanoid character among a bunch of card and chess themed Darkners.
His puzzle is… too easy.
Rouxls is oddly excited about overthrowing the king/taking his place.
Rouxls is well versed in calligraphy of all things. (Relation to fonts + letters.)
Rouxls “sparkles” have an odd resemblance to the shining save states…?
He makes pop culture references, such as ones seen here and here. Could just be random throwaway jokes, but often times more “aware” characters such as Sans and Papyrus are keen on breaking the fourth wall at times/making references to relate with the audience.
His hair looks strangely out of place. Especially the hairline which is really receded to an unnatural degree on the left side. It’s a wig guys…
He gets a suspiciously new position for no reason at all. In any normal situation, he would be extremely unqualified for it if he were as stupid as he makes himself out to be.
Rouxls is literally wearing armor, akin to a medieval knights.
If you pay close attention, Rouxls has a few very subtle similar speech patterns to Gaster. They both occasionally repeat words twice. They both use the words wonderful and truly a lot, etc.
When Kris and the gang beat the K. Round, Rouxls said it was just to test their abilities.
Rouxls theme has leitmotifs from Gaster’s theme.
End of discussion. Deltarune’s finale is legit going to be Gaster getting his wig snatched.

undertale meta deepdive: sans is not a good person (OR the sans theory masterpost pt. 1)
Tumblr media
Part 1 || Part 2
Sans is far from this valiant epitome of good that the fandom so often paints him as. He’s not a hero—hell, he might even be a bad, terrible person. At least in the past. My intention in this post isn’t to crush popular fandom interpretations of Sans in a bad faith argument, rather, it is to challenge preconceptions that have existed for years and to open up discussion on the dubious morality of this popular and loved character; I certainly love him a little more after doing this analysis.
Section I - A Bad Person (The “What”)
Tumblr media
Sans is certainly not opposed to leaving us little breadcrumbs for us in regards to his mysterious past. We get the idea that Sans is separated from his home, likely due to something he did. Something he had thought was important. Something that led him to take his home for granted.
Tumblr media
So based off of the previous dialogue, this “type” that he intimately knows… he’s talking about himself. He was very “determined” to do whatever he did, which cost him his home, likely nearly everything he cared about given his angst.
So let’s say Sans used to be “determined”.
Tumblr media
Sans is also aware of the SAVE function, meta knowledge that only the player and Flowey should know about because they have or have had this ability in the past.
Tumblr media
“Take it from me”: accept that what I say is true, because I know or have experienced it. Sans should have quit when he had the chance. Never satisfied, too determined to bow out. But is he talking about the same thing we’ve been doing?
When Sans threatens us with the infamous “bad time”, he is NOT referring to the fight… but what comes after, because only after he is struck down, he gives us one final piece of advice:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But HOW does he know that the world is going to be thrown into the “abyss”? Unless he has experienced this first-hand.
Tumblr media
This is Papyrus confronting us in the genocide run antecedent to his fight…
Tumblr media
…and this is him on Sans. An eerily mirrored piece of dialogue from Papyrus describing us and his brother. What do we know so far? Both Sans and the player need to be kept on “the straight and narrow”, both are “determined”, and both do irreparable damage to the world, possibly sending it to “the abyss”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Purgatory: a place or state of suffering inhabited by the souls of sinners who are expiating their sins before going to heaven. Not to mention the suspicious usage of the word “abyss” by Papyrus.
From the evidence gathered, it seems that the reason why Sans isn’t able to return to his world is because he destroyed it in the same manner we destroyed Undertale in the genocide run. Why else would he say “take it from me”; he empirically knows what happens when the world is pushed to its very limits.
But which world could he have destroyed? What world did Sans come from?
Tumblr media
(Continues under the cut because this gets really long.)

[OLD THEORY] Papyrus is a psychopomp, or at least, a metaphor for it.
For context, I posted this almost 4 years ago back on the Undertale subreddit to which it received very minimum attention and almost no reception. I'm reposting it here with possible new evidence largely because my interest in this game is kicking back up again in anticipation for the second chapter of Deltarune.
[Original Post]
So this little theory of mine was something I've kept bouncing around in my thoughts for a while. I was inspired to conjure it after watching Gaijin Goomba's excellent video about how Sans might be a revenant, which you can watch here. Since he never did a followup video theorizing what mythical creature Papyrus might be based on, I decided to do my own digging and I think you'll be intrigued by my findings.
First things first, what is a psychopomp exactly? Well, according to the wikipedia article on them, they're described as creatures, spirits, angels, or deities in many religions whose responsibility is to escort newly-deceased souls from Earth into the afterlife. Now how is this applied concept of a grim reaper applicable to the gullible stooge of a character that is Papyrus? That connection can be made through analyzing one small component of the game in Snowdin Forest.
Known as just ball game, this somewhat forgettable moment in your puzzle Q&A testing with Papyrus actually raises a lot of deeper correlations about the knowledge Papyrus holds.
Tumblr media
If we go by what Papyrus says, that he's the designer of all the puzzles you solve in Snowdin Forest, then Ball Game wouldn't be excluded from that portfolio; meaning Papyrus would've had to design the Ball Game puzzle and all of the elements in it. And those elements also include the descriptions given for each colored flag that you can achieve depending on how you get the snowball into the hole. And each of those flags and their descriptions correspond to the traits of each human soul that fell into the underground.
So here's the part where this gets interesting, in order for Papyrus to write down these descriptions of the human souls, he would've had to have some contact with them before in order to know their traits. That brings into the question the possibility that Papyrus could've interacted with other humans besides Frisk, or at least, have some knowledge of their abilities. This possibility, however, somewhat contradicts what is said by the bunny shopkeeper: that both the skeleton brothers recently showed up one day and just asserted themselves without anyone knowing where they came from. Unless the human souls came into the underground in a route that avoided going through Snowdin Town...
This possibility, that Papyrus interacted with the other fallen humans enough to learn about their soul traits, provides evidence that Papyrus practices a duty very similar to that of a psychopomp: to guide recently-deceased souls into afterlife, or in this context, the Underground. It's a metaphor that works really well in the plot of the game, a human falls into an underground world of monsters, relating to an underworld, and is guided by a caretaker to make sure their stay in the afterlife is safe and pleasant. And Papyrus shows this in how he ignores his responsibility to capture you and instead provides a sense of comfort in Snowdin by cooking you spaghetti and showing appreciation towards your company.
But doesn't Toriel also do this similar job to an extent? That's definitely true, but I have a hunch that this similarity in guiding lost souls into the underworld was acknowledged by Toby Fox himself in the Greenlight trailer for Undertale. In which (starting at 1:05) Papyrus asks the narrating text whether or not he's the mom for comedic effect.
But it the connections don't end at the ball game. As we theorized before, Papyrus must've interacted with the other human souls before if he knows their traits to write descriptions of them. But what this entails is a further explanation as to why Flowey seems to have a niche appreciation for Papyrus over the other monsters. Remember, what did Flowey want throughout the entire game? A soul, for he lacks one. And why is he still so interested in Papyrus if not for his nature to always be humorous and intriguing? He must know that Papyrus has knowledge of the human souls. That's why he privately talks to him, he must be pushing him to tell how to get access to the human souls so that Flowey can "become god" as he stated when he absorbed the six human souls in the neutral run.
The psychopomp connections don't just end there, you can even dig up references to historical psychopomps of ancient religions just by analyzing his very name. The name Papyrus obviously refers to the tacky typeface he speaks in, but it can also refer to the paper material papyrus. And the paper substitute was commonly used by two ancient empires: the Greek empire, and the Egyptian empire. And those two empires both had established religions in which there was also the concept of psychopomps.
There's two main religious deities I want to declare have had inspiration on Papyrus' character in Undertale. These two deities are the Greek god Hermes, and the Egyptian god Anubis
Let's start with Hermes, who is declared the messenger of the gods, the god of trade, thieves, travelers, oratory, wit, trickery, sports, athletes, border crossings, and the guide to the Underworld.
Papyrus acts as a messenger in the Underground either when it comes to telling you about how much Undyne currently wants to stab you, or delivering the news to Undyne that he just couldn't the human. He's also the most talkative when it comes to the amount of dialogue he has for his phone calls. This is also correlating to the gag of Papyrus' mailbox being empty while sans' is stuffed with unread letters.
As for thieves, travelers, and border crossings, Papyrus is stationed as a royal guard sworn to prevent any human, friend or foe, from freely coming into Snowdin without being captured, he even builds a rubbish gate that doesn't prevent you and Sans from walking through it. However, he manages to sympathize with the assailant and makes you his friend.
For oratory and wit, Papyrus is actually accounted for deceiving you with wordplay, even using reverse psychology to trick Undyne into being friends with you; doesn't hurt the connection that he's also a pretty prominent and rather loud speaker.
For trickery, that's just obvious. Papyrus is known to brag about how he has a devoted passion for puzzles and japes. Hermes was also known to outwit the gods, and Papyrus is not one shy to make fools of the Royal Guard.
Athletes? This may seem like a stretch, but Papyrus is a pretty athletic person; being able to jump really high over your head after you spare him, leaping face-first through a window unscathed, and being the proclaimed "jog boy" who turns trash-cants into trash-cans.
Hermes was also the phallic god of boundaries, and this is actually applicable with Papyrus, as in when you confess your love for him on your date, he politely refuses and says that you're already great as a friend, for he states that he cannot love you back as much as you love him.
Now for the correlations with Anubis, the ancient Egyptian god associated with mummification. the afterlife, protection of the tomb, and the appearance of having the head of a jackal. Anubis assumed many different roles in various contexts, with one of his prominent roles being a psychopomp who ushered souls into the afterlife, from which point forward their character is judged through a process called "weighing of the heart." Anubis is also associated with the Wepwawet, another Egyptian god also portrayed with a dog's head, but with gray/white fur. Anubis also had a cult dedicated to worshiping him that was located in Cynopolis. There was also a religious figure that fused both Hermes and Anubis into one being called Hermanubis.

Have you ever noticed how the design of Gaster Blasters are specifically based off of dog skulls? Well, the appearance of Anubis could've possibly been an inspiration for this design, what with the connotations of gods and mummification of the dead.
Like Anubis, Papyrus has had his job changed many times. Depending on which ending you get, he can either become a florist, a mascot, or an ambassador to monsters. But he still maintains his primary job of being a "royal guardsman."
Weighing of the heart? That's obviously a connection to Papyrus' ability to turn your heart-shaped soul blue, thus giving it the properties of gravity and weight. This could also be a reference to how Sans judges you after Papyrus guides you through the Underground, as Anubis was accompanied by Ammit, a griffon-like creature who would devour souls that failed the weighing of the heart test.
Anubis was accompanied by a dog with white fur named Wepwawet, and Papyrus is an attractor of the Annoying Dog, who always likes to annoy Papyrus by stealing his special attack, and who also conveniently has white fur.
Cynopolis, referred to as the "city of dogs" is also a likely influence on Snowdin Town, and how it has the largest population of canines monsters out of any location in the game. Although Sans is usually the one to be known in the city of gods and not Papyrus.
Hermanubis is just mentioned to tie all of these correlations together, as he's basically one big psychopomp that combines the two religious figures I think inspired Papyrus' character in Undertale.
[Updated Info]
About a year or two after this post is made, the trailer for the game's port to PS4 and Pisa Vita was released, and it was the standard fare for the most part aside from this interesting detail. At the end of the narrated introduction, we see a black monster truck called the 'Bone Cruncher' appear as its riding up a mountain of bones. The window slides down to reveal that it's the Annoying Dog driving this truck. What's fascinating about this otherwise innocuous bit is what's in the truck bed. We can identify five objects: Two statues of Anubis made to look as if they were kissing, a statue of an adorned cat whose head is made to resemble Catty, a red orb atop a pedestal, and a sarcophagus. All items are encased in gold and are meant to resemble artifacts of ancient Egypt. We can further speculate that the red orb is likely a reference to the Artifact Room, which contains a similar-looking red orb called a 'legendary artifact', which the Annoying Dog absorbs if you attempt to pick it up. Papyrus also commentates on this room by saying that "there's something about this room, but I can't quite place my finger on it", referencing what happens. The two Anubis statues could possibly be a reference to Dogamy and Dogaressa, two canine monsters depicted as lovers smooching each other in their fight. I have no possible clue what the sarcophagus could reference.

While these references are cool, what begs the question is why they're depicted as ancient Egyptian artifacts? It seems very odd and almost out of place since the connection between ancient Egypt and bones doesn't seem immediately obvious. It seems very out-of-place until you take into account everything I've stated prior. This is just another piece of plausible evidence for the idea that Papyrus's relationship with Snowdin and the Annoying Dog may specifically be an allegory to Egyptian mythology, being made all the more clever by his namesake.
The thought to conclude on this appeared to me rather violently, and I just had to get the word about this out here despite how ridiculously late it is to the party.

Actually, you can see "star theme" in a lot of places in the underground, like when you talk with a little monster (Loren) who stays in one of Waterfall's rooms (right from Sans' telescsop) and asks us about a nature of stars (I do believe that his questions must be considered serious and important).
Also Mettaton in his EX form soon after losing all his legs and arms told us that if we a star, then we must be able to save humanity.
I believe that a star is a person, who aspires to become an angel: a creature capable of changing fate.
Aster
Gaster’s name contains the word “aster” in it. This little word is
the Ancient Greek word for “star”
and the name of a typeface
as well as a genus of flower
plus the asterisk (*) is named after it too, meaning “little star” - this is what precedes characters’ dialogue in Undertale & Deltarune, with the exception of Papyrus
The “star” association is what I find especially interesting, because Sans and Papyrus are both connected to astronomical motifs. Papyrus has the emblem of the Starmen (enemies from Earthbound) on his battle body. Sans calls him “a real star.” Papyrus proudly proclaims that he smells like that moon. Sans himself owns a telescope despite living in a cavern. Papyrus says his brother loves outer space and sci-fi.
I don’t know if this is just another subtle way of connecting the skeletons together or if it has deeper meaning??? but whatever the case it’s pretty neat imo
