Dwarves absolutely get the worst hayfever during sping it's not funny. Dwarves as a race spend most of their time in a nice, climate controlled mountain, and usually only ever leave to travel or trade.

So imagine the Company on the quest, or at Beorns' place, puffy red eyes, noses dripping like leaky fausets, and Bilbo being so concerned, thinking they are sick or dying, because hobbits are born and bred farmers and are totally fine during spring.

And so Bilbo asks Oin, and he's like,"nah lad, it's just the spring season that's gives us dwarves a bad reaction, it's something in the air." And Bilbo is all,"spring is killing the dwarves??"

Meanwhile (while Bilbo is worrying in the background, wondering if Bifur or the younger members will even make it), everyone else is thinking "damn, how come the hobbit is fine in this blasted weather"

I've go a headcannon that when a hobbit has a sock or bandage or something around their foot, they will stop every few steps and shake the offending foot out like a cat with tape on its paw.

One of the fellowship hobbits gets their foot bandaged, because sharp rocks, and:

Boromir and Aragorn walking behind the hobbit, watching him flap his foot every few paces:
