why isaac isn't back

isaac has got a new pack, he’s all happy and smiling. he’s got little siblings that climb all over him, he doesn’t mind. just laughs and plays along w them. chases them around w ‘claws’ and lets them tackle him to the ground. and some older siblings that look out for him, they rustle his hair when they walk by, clap him on the shoulder n squeeze it, too. he doesn’t flinch when it happens, just smiles up at them. they wrestle w him, too.

but that mostly leads to them dog piling on the floor, he’s always trapped on the bottom. you’d think after what he’s been through, he’d feel suffocated under all that weight. but he never has. the giggles and the warmth that comes w a dog pile never feel like the ice box. it’s not cold and scary, it’s all love and warmth.

and he has new parents, they never yell or throw things or hit him. they’re soft and loving. they hug him and ask him how he is. how his day was. but they always make sure he’s done his homework and chores. they constantly run fingers through his hair, ruffle it up a bit. he doesn’t even try to act upset about it because he’s not.

the pack he’s with now is huge. at least a hundred people: humans, wolves, other supernatural beings. he knows all of them by name and they know him. there isn’t any violence. they have no need to fight w one another nor any other packs. they don’t live in fear for their lives or hide who they are, they sleep easy at night. hunters don’t come for them, the hunters know they’d never win. besides his pack hasn’t done any wrong, they just live in the mountains, have their own little community. it’s all love where he’s at, something isaac needed.

and that’s what isaacs been up to. that’s why he’s not back. he’s found his place. he hasn’t forgotten his friends, calls them and sends them updates and pictures of his life constantly. tells them they’re free to visit any time and that his family would love to meet them. but he’s not interested in leaving, doesn’t want to go back to beacon hills. too many memories. too many ghosts of dead friends. too many bad things.

maybe one day, he says.

but not now. he’s gonna hold onto this as long as he can.

a/n: i’m v neglectful of this blog lmfao. sorry about that, guys. i have other things that i have to do irl, but i wrote this tiny self indulgent theo garbage and figured i’d share. (can u tell i’ve given up on titles?)

Theo looked up from his textbook when he heard the door creak open. His lips twitched upwards when he caught sight of you shuffling inside the classroom, a shy smile on your face as you apologized to the teacher for interrupting. He looked back down at his textbook as you made your way through the aisle to get to your seat. Theo glanced out of the corner of his eyes to watch you take your seat next to him. He couldn’t help himself; you were mesmerizing.

You caught his gaze and rose your eyebrows at him. He shook his head and looked to the front of the room to make sure the teacher wasn’t paying any mind before leaning over to whisper, “And what excuse do you have for being late today?”

You rolled your eyes and started pulling things out of your backpack, a small curve of a smile on your face as you answered him, “It was hard leaving my new pup all alone.”

Theo let out a huff of quiet laughter, “Completely reasonable.”

“I know,” you agreed. You looked up to make sure the teacher was still occupied before continuing, “I wouldn’t have come at all, but my mother forgot something important on her desk and she caught me in the living room playing with Ronnie when she came back to get it.”

“I’m glad your mom came back, then.”

“Why? I could be at home with my pup right now.”

Theo gave you a soft smile, “Any day where I don’t get to see you is a bad one.”

You choked on a laugh, not even caring that it drew attention to you. The bell rang and you started packing your things, a grin breaking out across your face as your laughter faded. You looked over at Theo, who was packing his own things and looking pretty proud of himself. You stood from your seat and looked down at him, “Don’t get all smug. You owe money to the jar for being gross this early in the morning.”

“Worth it.”
