Kieran didn't hug her back, but of course couldn't stop himself from leaning into the embrace. Keeping his tears at bay for the moment. He couldn't do this. He didn't want to go back to being who he was before. He should.. be nicer. But. Not the same hesitant kid he was.

"You didn't have to lie to me." He sniffled, clenching his fists at his sides. He had gotten tired of people trying to decide what was good for him. He was getting old enough to decide that for himself. "I could have gotten to know Ogerpon first, maybe she would've wanted to come with me."

Carmine had taken the bag from his hand. "Let's take a break." She gently consoled.

The elder sister knew exactly what she had to do. She's very much used to doing this for him. Carmine brought him closer for an embrace; noting that he was close to tears. Seems that after everything, there's parts of the old Kieran still there.

"I know, I know."

"Sadly, showing how strong you are won't work for every Pokemon if you want one to choose you. Some you might have to help them, and others are just purely vibes based; in how you present yourself."

While Ogerpon had chosen to be with the Paldean student, Carmine herself was indirectly chosen. That even in the presence of someone who knew the story wrong and was against the Ogre; was able to gain the trust of said Pokemon because she decided to help repair and get back the other masks.

"And well...I know this is long overdue, I'm sorry for making them lie about Ogerpon." Carmine added on with guilt in her voice.

"I wanted to protect both you and her. Because I knew how dangerous it would've been for people in town to see her; and how you always were about Ogerpon. And in my attempt of that, I hurt my baby brother in the process."
