PROD. KITKAT - CHAPTER 6 : "dinner"

you arrived at the restaurant you were supposed to meet stray kids at. you walked inside and quickly spotted all 8 boys sitting down, so you made your way toward them.

"hi guys!" you stand in front of them and wave. they all greet you back with smiling faces.

chan pulls out the chair between him and jeongin and says, "please, sit."

you thank him and sit down.

"so, how are you? we haven't seen you in forever!" felix says with a smile.

that "forever" was probably a month and a half. you had only seen 3racha during that time to work and produce more music while the rest of the boys were practicing for the comeback.

"i'm good thank you for asking," you say with a smile, "and you guys?"

they explain what they've been doing and how they're holding up with all the schedules. you guys make some more small talk while waiting for the food to come out. once it did and you all had your meals in front of you bang chan said, "wait guys don't eat! let me snap a couple of pictures of you guys all together."

"you sound like a dad you know?" you said while laughing.

"everyone calls me that anyway" bang chan said while chuckling. he then got up and took a few pictures of all of you guys together and the food on the table.

"okay you guys can eat now" he said while sitting back down.

"finally" jeongin said.

you laughed at him and then began to eat. all of you guys were talking while eating the food. the boys were telling stories of their pre-debut days and you couldn't stop laughing at all of them. you had a great time. you and jeongin were also chatting it up and you found out that he was really fun to talk to. he was also probably the most relatable person you've spoken to. he totally did not act like an idol when there were no cameras rolling.

time flew by and dinner was over and finished, the boys asked if you wanted to go for ice cream but you declined as you thought they should get some rest. they would have a lot more schedules and performances to do over the next couple of weeks.

PROD. KITKAT - CHAPTER 5 : "workaholic"

you didn't really think you would have to stay that late when bang chan texted you and said you guys might've had to stay late. turns out you thought wrong! it was currently 2 am and you were on your third cup of coffee. you usually had no problem staying up late, that was, when you were watching a movie or show. now that you were staying up doing actual work, you were getting tired real quick.

"y/n? you there?" chan waves his hand in front of your face.

"hmm?? oh, yea. 'm here" you mumble while sitting up straight.

"sorry for making you stay late, you can leave if you want. we don't have that much left anyway. we can finish tomorrow." he says while rubbing his neck in guilt.

"nah, its fine." you say as you crack your knuckles and neck, "lets just lock in now so we don't have to do anymore work tomorrow." you quickly regain focus on the track you were working on.

bang chan sighs, "if you say so."

you guys work for about another hour or so before you finished the last track for the album. it was hyunjin's solo song. you guys had edited and mixed the lyrics in. you were planning to just do a final review tomorrow.

"finally done!!" you say with a sarcastic smile and shut your laptop. you look over to chan who doesn't look tired one bit. "wanna get going?" you ask him.

"ahh no you go ahead, i'll just do a little more work." he said.

"uh, you do know it's like," you pause and check your watch, "3:15 am?"

"no really y/n it's okay, im used to staying up." he turned his head toward you and gave you a small smile. "you get going, i know your live a little far from here."

you decided not to push him anymore, you weren't that close with him to advise him what to do and you certainly didn't want to try. you just wanted to go sleep. so you said your goodbyes and left.

PROD. KITKAT - CHAPTER 4 : "😁😁"

its been about 3 weeks of working with stray kids now, you've completed almost all of the songs on the new album along with bang chan, changbin, han, and a few other producers. you've gotten more comfortable with them three and vice versa, but you were still trying to warm up to the 5 others. when they're all together they get really overwhelming and loud, so you kind of disassociate when all of you guys are together. you still find them kind of annoying but they're manageable, it's even fun to work with them sometimes. you still try to keep it professional though, as jyp or anyone higher above you can easily fire you if they think you're romantically involved or too close with any of the members. thats why you disliked working with guys, people could easily get the wrong idea. you're also someone who falls easily, one small sweet gesture can lead to something way bigger in your head.

you've gotten closest with bang chan though, you guys are about the same age and you can relate to a lot of the things he goes through. in the short span of three weeks you feel like you know him pretty well. your guys' conversations start out light and funny then end up really deep. in your opinion he really is a sweet guy.

PROD. KITKAT - CHAPTER 3 : "fine shyt"

while on the way to the jyp building for your first official job with stray kids, you wondered how it would be. would they be loud like they usually are? will they be awkward around you? you didn't have enough time to think about it though, you were already at jyp.

you scan your id badge and make your way over to one of the recording rooms. todays plan was to talk to stray kids and see the concept they had in mind for their new album and make some sample beats for music.

you find the room and knock on the door, you hear someone say come in and then open the door to find bang chan, changbin, and jisung. you bow your head and greet them and they do the same.

"good morning y/n, how are you?" bang chan asks you.

"good morning to you too, im doing fine, and you?" you replied back. you were still trying to talk formally with him, at least in korean, it felt more professional, especially since you just met him.

"im doing good too, excited to work with you today" he smiles at you.

you give a polite smile and nod your head in return. you thought that you should talk to changbin and jisung too. you turn your head toward them, but they are already talking and giggling with each other, you decided to just stay quiet.

bang chan called your name and showed you all the equipment in the room, which wasn't much different than all the other rooms you had worked in. again, you weren't really paying attention to what he was saying just letting it go through one ear and out the other, muttering the occasional "ohh, yea, really?, wow" here and there.

all of a sudden there was a loud knock on the door and the rest of the stray kids showed up. the room instantly became loud but not for long because felix spotted you in the corner of the room and said, "oh look, y/n noona is here!" after that, everyone went silent, and it got kind of awkward.

"well lets get to work then?" jisung asked, trying to break the tension.

the rest of the members sat down and explained what the whole theme and concept of the album was, as well as explaining what type of music they wanted. you took notes on your laptop, making reminders and such, while occasionally checking your phone. you discussed with them a little bit to go over everything and made sure you understood correctly.

after the little discussion was done, every member left except bang chan, changbin, and jisung. you figured now you guys were going to play around with some beats and see what you could come up with.

you guys did exactly that, for 2 hours straight. you also talked a bit with the boys, getting to know them more. they seemed like nice guys, you just didn't want to work with them. you missed working with your friends. (mainly because you didn't actually work)

changbin and jisung had to leave early with the other boys for dance practice or something like that, but you stayed with chan for a little longer. helping him sample some things and whatnot.

"so y/n," chan says in english, "what do you think so far? about us, i mean."

"oh uh, you guys are," you spent a good 10 seconds trying to find a word to describe them, "unique."

chan laughed, "unique?? whats that supposed to mean?" he said with a smile on his face.

you finally realized it could have sounded rude and your eyes went wide and you instantly started apologizing.

"oh my god im sorry i didn't mean it like that!!" you said while shaking your hands.

he laughed again, "im just messing with ya, i know what you meant."

you sighed, feeling relieved.

"actually, you and felix remind me of this other friend i have, his name is jake, hes from another kpop group" you explained.

"jake from enhyphen?" bang chan asked.

you nodded your head in response.

"ohh felix is actually friends with him, i think. anyway did you use to work with them too?"

"nah i've only worked here, i just know them because of itzy."

"ahh. so you have a lot of idol friends then im guessing?"

"not really, i try to keep it professional when im working but itzy are just something else. they always used to pull me around and take me with them wherever they went. we're like sisters to be honest. without them and enhyphen, i'd be pretty lonely." you say, reminiscing old memories.

bang chan looks at you with a little glow in his eyes, it reminds him of how he felt with his boys.

"ah, so all your other friends are back home?" he asked.

"yea, but i never really have time to go back, jyp never gives me time off. so we kinda grew apart, except a few really close friends." you said with a sad expression. you realized you were becoming a little too emotional and decided to change the subject.

"so anyway, whats it like being an idol? i heard you guys are like, at your peak right now and stuff." you asked.

"its..stressful to say the least. especially because i also have to produce the music. my old partners wouldn't really do anything so i was left making all the music. thats why we needed to hire someone different." he explained.

'shit' you thought to yourself. you barely do work yourself. what made jyp think you can work with a top boy group right now?

"oh damn, well, i assure you, i'll help you a lot. or - i'll try my best." you said with a smile on your face. he seemed like he need the help anyway, he always looked tired.

you guys carried on doing work and talking until it was 7:00, the sun had already set and you figured it was the best time to get going now.

you and bang chan wrapped up and walked out the door, he was making his way to the dance room and you to the lobby, you said your goodbyes and went your separate ways.

PROD. KITKAT - CHAPTER 2 : "no comment"

today was the day to meet stray kids. you weren't that nervous, just kind of annoyed. for some reason, you didn't want to work them. but it was understandable, as you now wouldn't be able to work with your friends.

the clock reads 3:30 pm. you put on some casual business attire, grab your laptop, and head out the door. while driving to the jyp building all you could think about is how awkward it was going to be. these are men that you see almost all the time but have never talked to, will they think you're rude?

after 15 minutes of driving, you arrive at the jyp building. you scan your id at the entrance and head on over to where you think itzy would be, the dance practice room. you peek your head through the window and sure enough, they're inside. you slowly knock on the door.

"come in!" yeji yells.

you open the door slowly and smile, "hi guys."

"y/n!!" yuna shouts as she comes up to hug you.

"we heard you're going to a meeting with stray kids today to discuss producing for them, you excited?" ryujin asks.

"no, not at all." you sigh exasperatedly.

"why?" chaeryoung asks as she sits down.

"they're a bunch of loud short guys, whats there to be excited about?" they all laugh.

"y/n in 3:56! you should head to the meeting room!" lia tells you.

"oh shoot you're right," you say as you gather your things. "i'll see you guys later, love you, bye!" you say as you walk out the door.

finally, you make your way over to the meeting room your manager told you to go to. you see your manager outside the door and wave.

"you ready y/n?" your manager asks you. you just shrug back at her, not too enthusiastic.

you look inside and see stray kids and their manager are already sitting down. your watch reads 3:59. you look towards your manager as she tilts her towards the door.

she slowly opens the door while bowing and saying hello, you following suit. all the boys including their manager get up while greeting and bowing.

one man, sitting to the right of the head of the table, comes over to you and shakes your hand. you presume this is the leader, bang chan.

"hi there, my name is bang chan, nice to meet you." he shakes your hand.

"hello, my name is y/n, it's nice to meet you to." you give a tight lipped smile.

he looks around for a second then says, "ah, these are my members lee minho, seo changbin, hwang hyunjin, han jisung, lee felix, kim seungmin, and yang jeongin." he pointed to each.

"nice to meet you all, i hope we can work well together." you say with a small smile as you bow.

you and your manager head over to sit down on the other side of the table. stray kids' manager was quick to start conversation.

"so ms. y/n, i've heard you have worked with quite a few groups here at jyp. if you dont mind me asking how long have you been working here?"

"i'd say about 3 years."

"and how long have you been producing music?"

"oh gosh, for a really long time actually. when i was a teenager i used to just play around with beats and make samples but when i was around 17 i started helping people out." you said and smiled.

"ah if you dont mind, could you show us some songs or samples you've produced?" bang chan asked.

"oh yea sure," you open your laptop and go onto your saved folder of songs. "here are some of my best works." you give him your laptop so he can scroll through.

as he plays a few songs and beats, the rest of the members nod their head in approval towards each other.

"these are really good!" one of the members, felix, says with a smile on his face.

"thank you" you nod and smile politely at him.

after that, stray kids' manager talked some more about expectations and what you were going to be working on, along with bang chan pitching in a few times. the other members didn't look too interested.

when you could tell their manager was about to come to a finish, you whispered to your manager, "i don't get a pay raise?" you looked at her confusingly at her.

she chucked a little, then mouthed out "we'll talk about it later" while she nodded. you just rolled your eyes jokingly.

when their manager (finally) stopped talking, you nodded in agreement with him and signed the contract, then thanked him for meeting with you.

him and your manager both quickly made their way out of the room as they both had more work to tend to. then it was you and stray kids in the room. it was awkward, and the tension was high.

"so ms. y/n, when did he say you would start working with us?" bang chan asked, trying to lighten the atmosphere.

"good question, ummm.... i think tomorrow?" you shrugged. you weren't really paying attention. then you suddenly remembered when yeji told you bang chan has an australian accent, you never got to hear it because you guys were speaking korean the whole time. you wanted to ask him if he speaks english to hear his accent.

you then asked him in english, "do you speak english?"

his eyes went kind of wide and he gasped a little bite and smiled.

"woah, your english is so good! were you born here?" he realized he didn't answer your original question then said "oh yea, i do speak english, i was born in australia."

felix chimed in, "i was born in australia too" he said in english with a little smile.

"oh nice, but yea i wasn't born here, i grew up in america, in new york."

"woahh new york?" hyunjin said in english with a little accent.

"yup." you chuckled a bit.

you looked at the time, it was 5:30. you kind of wanted to leave, not wanting to make anymore conversation with them. they reminded you of jake.

"ah anyway, i have to get going, it was nice meeting ya'll though, have a good day. i'll see you tomorrow." you said as you made eye contact with bang chan.

while opening the door you turned back, bowed, and said goodbye in korean. finally, you stepped out of the room and sighed in relief. you then made your way out the building and to your car to drive home.
