I’ve thought about it and I think a lot of people would be a lot happier if the shadow and bone was simply called grishaverse.

The end of Fifty Shades of Grey feels like the ending of Sound of Music Act 1 after the party when she’s running away and the music builds but you and she knows that this is a dumb idea

Happy end of the year!!!
My reading roundup: I read 90 books. Roughly 30 of them were audiobooks and 60 physical books
My least favorite:
- monstrous by Thomas e. Sniegoski
- We hunt the flame by hafsah faizal
- the inheritance games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (this one wasn’t bad I just didn’t like it but I could tell it was good)
- verity by Colleen Hoover
My most favorite:
- kingdom of ash by Sarah j mass
- the love hypothesis by Ali hazelwood
- book lovers by Emily Henry
- crescent city by Sarah j mass
- the American roommate experience by Elena armas
Final thoughts: I love Sarah j mass, I absolutely adore her books but if you EVER see me talking about how nothing can compare to her brilliance — shoot me. I love her books but if she never writes another book I will find other books and other authors.
I preordered Ali hazelwood’s second novel love on the brain because I loved the love hypothesis so much. It wasn’t great. It was just a slightly less love hypothesis. But I will continue to buy her books because I love them enough.
I will never read another Colleen Hoover book as long as I live and breath. I can’t stand the one I read and with all the hype I know they are the same books. She writes to elicit emotion. It doesn’t even matter if it’s good writing or makes sense. I refuse.
Anyhoo that’s my thoughts for the year. Love you 😘

How is carry on literally an amazing book. Have the words sound so fake even though they are real words. But honestly still such a perfect book.

Personally I don’t think I will read another Colleen Hoover book after finishing Verity. I have never had a book freak me out so thoroughly as this did and I don’t think I can put myself through that again. Like there’s nothing I won’t read (I don’t look at trigger warnings personally), but never before have I lost the ability to sleep from a book.

The absolute unhinged anger I feel when a series has a “love triangle” but really its two people are in love with Person A and Person A is only in love with Person B This is not a love triangle this is a situation where Person C is hot and the Person B is the perfect match.

If I was immortal I would just go into a kind of hibernation for 50 years at a time and be reading that entire time and then show up and scare a bunch of folks and then go into hiding.
People would think I came out to feed but really I just want to know what books are good now and buy a bunch of books.

I have another possibly controversial opinion.
I think it’s really weird when people sexualize characters like Harry Potter and that gang, and Percy Jackson and that gang. Just because of how young they were when the series started I can only imagine them as that so when people start to sexualize them it makes me very uncomfortable.

Controversial Opinions
I learned today that I have controversial opinions surrounding Throne of Glass and the Court of Thorns and Roses today so I decided to share them so even more people can yell at me for my choices.
And as a warning spoilers
1. Rhys is a better person than Rowan. Rhys always showed kindness and respect towards Feyre. Before he was 100% sure about the mating bond he always gave Ferye a choice and she always had autonomy over herself. Whereas Rowan pushed Aelen to some extreme breaking points. Yes I will admit he recognized that she could handle it sometimes it was too far. Continuing with this comparing theme: Rhys and Feyre just had a healthier and stronger relationship then Rowan and Aelin.
2. I hated Rowan. I never wanted him with Aelin. I wanted Aelin to get with Chaol. I recognize he did some horrible things to her but he did them so early in the series I always assumed he would atone for them and they would get together. Yes I do admit that Chaol with Yerene was the greatest thing for him and I loved their relationship with my whole being I just hate Rowan so much.

So I just started ACOTAR and if you’ve read it you know the fairies have masks permanently stuck to their faces and I guess I’ve been living in the pandemic for too long because I’ve been picturing the highly decorative masks some people wear and not masquerade masks. So I’ve spent the entire first half of the book wondering how they eat with permanent face masks.

I recently read two books (The Inheritance Games and We Hunt the Flame) and both I only read the first in the series and I won’t continue the series because I didn’t enjoy them the way I wanted to. Specifically We Hunt the Flame, I was so excited to read it and it was such a disappointment. I don’t know if it’s because I didn’t actually realize what the story is and I didn’t like the actual story or what but it all just felt surface emotions and nothing had depth.

I read Savage by Thomas E. Sniegoski and absolutely ruined the book for me as an adult. Never again will I read it and never again will I praise it.
The second book also only has 60 ratings on Goodreads and that baffles me that I read a book so few others have read
