Hi! I haven’t drawn any Medici art recently, but I’m sure I will again at some point! I really enjoyed drawing them last time (particularly the Francesco painting), and it’s only a matter of time before I’m devoured by the Renaissance feelings again

Gonna be on this website until it’s dead dead, but I’ve been seeing a few posts this week about Tumblr’s downfall so it’s probably a good time to share some of my other socials :) It’s been dying for ages so I don’t think it’s happening any time soon — probably still has a few years left in it — but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared anyway.

i finally caught one of yasuke’s horrible and hilarious leaps of faith and that japanese man at the bottom was NOT impressed…yasuke it’s the undignified screaming and the old man back grabbing action for me. love you so much.

every time i start to feel cringe for being too deep in the hyperfixation i remember the intense depression i have waded through and have to remind myself that enjoyment is fleeting (so grab it with both hands), and life is for loving (so hold that love close), and if anyone thinks i’m cringe they must not be having a very good time (and i hope they can find a good time soon).

thank you so much to all the lovely and talented people who sent me art/allowed me to use their art for this little project. i appreciate it so much, and I'm super sorry if I didn't include yours or forgot to. i had a much bigger response than I excepted and a LOT of campbell drawings, so I had to cut down a few for ink/campbell-favouritism purposes.

it's a bit messy and a bit squeaky, but I'm hoping it's the thought that counts. only this one will be made and it will be sent to donna franceschild as soon as possible. you can't always expect a response with these kinda things, so don't get too excited - the last one took a month to come.

anyway the actual point of fandom is to inspire each other. reading each other's fics and admiring each other's art and saying wow i love this and i feel something and i want to invoke this in other people, i want to write a sentence that feels like a meteor shower, i want to paint a kiss with such tenderness it makes you ache, i want to create something that someone else somewhere will see it and think oh, i need to do that too, right now. i am embracing being a corny cunt on main to say inspiring each other is one of the things humanity is best at and one of the things fandom is built for and i think that's beautiful

First, Best Destiny (Part I) by @ophelia-j

I’ve been watching people make books of fanfic for years, and knew it was only a matter of time before I caved and started a new hobby. And here it is! Voila! The first of (hopefully) a library of some of my favourite stories.

Had a lot of fun figuring out the formatting of the pages and drawing things for it. Especially the cover. That was a challenge but I’m so happy with it!

Putting the other pictures under the cut so this isn’t too long :)

- The title page. Made the circular design and then realised after I printed it it would look cooler if it went across both pages. Got a lot better at freehanding circles though as a result.

- The chapter headings. Ended up doing Vulcan numbers in the background, which I think turned out nice! Each chapter covers several episodes from the series, so I added a footnote to show which ones.

- The page break after the epilogue. I wanted to put an illustration somewhere in the book, and thought here worked well. Had fun drawing the Enterprise!

- The copyright page. Standard stuff. Put a lot of the fic information here (and the rest at the end of the book)

- I also added a section at the end for all the author notes, cause it felt like a shame to cut them entirely even though they didn’t fit with the formatting of the chapters. They feel like an intrinsic part of the fanfic experience, and I always enjoy reading them alongside the story!

So yeah, that’s that! Incredibly happy with how it came together. I also highly recommend this fic to anyone who likes The Original Series — it’s brilliantly written and captures the characters’ voices perfectly. You can find it here :)
