Team Chaskuka! I wanted to grow the group a little more beyond just drawing Iuka in yet another sexy outfit (even though I did that anyway lol)

Branson Saint-Bernard - genetically enhanced super soldier that was formerly solving high profile crimes and tracking down intergalactic criminals. But now that Iuka has become such a key public figure the government wanted to assign her their own full time bodyguard / handler. He hates this.

Bob (the Mob) - a one man (?) criminal enterprise, Bob is a hive-mind species that is involved in seemingly every facet of intergalactic crime. Since every "member" of the syndicate is the same Bob with the same brain, their cohesion and efficiency is unmatched. Sort of difficult to work with from the outside on account of being under no obligation to explain themselves to anyone.

Iuka Chashuka - The inhabited universe's most beloved and reliable source of information. She prides herself on being the very first to report on a story, often with a blatant disregard for privacy, laws, or general ethics. Whether in her studio on the planet Quistle, or on location via hologram, Iuka can be found at the scene of anything particularly gruesome, scandalous, shocking, sensitive, or otherwise new and noteworthy.

Bob - there's always another one.

CNDER - Thousands of years ago, the cutting edge of technology was a learning machine with the body of a young woman. But like all new technologies, eventually the novelty wore off and the toy was discarded. Millennia later, archaeologists discovered CNDER and she was restored by a team of dedicated paleo-programmers. Now she's hanging around with Iuka and trying to get up to speed.

Sam Kash - A "reformed" criminal enforcer that functions essentially as Iuka's hype-woman. Enjoys taunting Branson with how he can't actually arrest her at the moment.

There is a long tradition of characters trauma dumping plot relevant information to Sansa Stark, so I don't think it's a narrative leap to suppose that her childhood companion and closest friend may have some important things to tell her.

Hey MiraBritArt! I love your art style and your OC Peter for your Tomb of Annihilation DnD campaign! :)

I’m curious: How did you come up with the design and character concept of Peter? He’s really well done (If you’ve answered this question before, may I please have a link to the post?)

Peter as a character was made more by circumstance than by intention.

For those not familiar, the introductory plot hook for Tomb of Annihilation is that suddenly people can't be brought back from the dead using magic anymore and the adventurer's need to find out why. The character I made for that was Dr. Moreau, a necromancer wizard who wanted to resurrect her son who died in childbirth.

My DM and very good friend Simon had a truly inspired idea that Acererak (TOA's big bad) would resurrect Dr. Moreau's son himself in exchange for her spying on/ secretly working against the other characters. And thus Peter was "born" to essentially act as a hostage. The other great idea Simon had was that, in a cruel sort of joke, Acererak turned the resurrected Peter into another phylactery for himself, that way the adventurer's couldn't truly defeat him without killing Peter as well.

So sort of tangentially around us actually playing Tomb of Annihilation, Simon and I would float around these hypotheticals of what Peter was getting up to while his mom was doing the adventure. We had a lot of fun just roll playing Acererak the Lich and his hostage who is a child who has literally never known anything outside of living in a tomb with a lich. At first it really just was about having fun and making jokes, the depth of the relationship just came along naturally after that. Somewhere in there we decided that Ace and Peter act 100% like father and son.

And that was just really fun to play with! Everyone at the table really contributed to extrapolating scenarios and characterization. It also made Acererak a way more emotional character and imo a better villain as a result.

That game took place way back in 2019 to the "canon" of the story has evolved several times since then, and there's always a part of me that wants to turn it into a full comic some day.

TL;DR: The irl inspiration for Peter was me and my friends building on each other's ideas for my actual player characters backstory.
