Just played the final battle of Tomb of Annihilation and I spent most of the battle wildshaped into a pterodactyl and concentrating on sunbeam. Or to put it another way:

I'm learning the hard way that DMs on Reddit are woefully lacking in imagination. I'm running the Tomb of Annihilation and I have a player with the Death Curse, so I'm trying to find ways to make that interesting, or at least not just kill them outright.

I'm being told that I should just let them die.

Like, really? All my instincts are screaming to me that there's a way to make this cool, even if death will be the end. They're a paladin, maybe I could get their god involved? Could lycanthropy help them out? Vampirism? Maybe I could build a magic item that would slow down the effects? How would any of this work mechanically in a way that respects how deadly the curse is while also giving the player some new options?

Is there anyone on here whose run the module and handled a similar situation, or just has a cool idea I can riff off of?

A bunch of doodles and sillies from the D&D campaign I’m in. We’re halfway through Tomb of Annihilation, and this is my big komodo dragon lizardfolk barbarian. 

He’s adopted a lot of dinosaurs along the way; but his newest and biggest is his Tyrannosaur mount. They have a combined healthpool of nearly 300HP. It’s a delight, and absolutely needed for the disasters we get into.

Presenting the classic Yuan-Ti Temple!

This map was inspired by the Yuan-Ti map in Volo’s Guide to Monsters, the earlyyuan-ti lore, and even some of the old Indiana Jones movies.

This pack has 4 base maps, which represent each layer of the pyramid. Some layers can only be accessed by stairs, and others by side entrances.
