When I told my mom that I truly care about people with disabilities, I want to be an accessibility advocate and speak up 🗣️ for the PwD community. My dream job is to be an Accessibility and Inclusive Design Evangelist. My mom didn’t say anything but asked me “Do you want to eat an apple?”. I nodded and she went to kitchen. In a minute, she passed me an ugly and dried apple. Mom said “Eat it. You shouldn’t discriminate a person with disabilities. People with disabilities in our society are like this ugly unfresh fruit…” I cried and took the apple. I bit into that clearly rotten apple while crying. In the end, I couldn't swallow that apple, my physiological instincts made me nauseous and I threw it up. But I asked myself, is that really the case? Is the stereotype and discrimination against people with disabilities in society like looking at them as ugly and unwanted fruits? Some people with disabilities even self-disdain, see society's discrimination as an unfair fate for themselves, even agree that it's reasonable, think that they themselves are ugly fruits. But I totally disagree with this obviously discriminatory view! I care about the rights and interests of marginalized groups, particularly those of people with disabilities. I love all human beings, and I have a natural inclination to connect with others. I especially love and care about marginalized groups, such as people with disabilities, the elderly, children, immigrants with non-native languages, First Nations, ethnic minorities, refugees, etc. To me, you are all vulnerable. And in my eyes, vulnerability is beautiful. I believe that our vulnerabilities make us beautiful. People with disabilities are like astronauts from outer space, flying to Earth from their planet, using their "differences," "vulnerabilities," and "disabilities" to teach Earthlings how to be more inclusive, empathetic and compassionate! A progressive, inclusive society should allow all different voices to be heard. Every little astronaut who flies to see us from their own planet is a teacher for our Earthlings! People with disabilities are not the ugly fruits the society think they are!!! They are astronauts from the stars. (at Ottawa, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn3KvL3tMPr/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Look at the stars Look how they shine for you And everything you do Yeah, they were all yellow I came along I wrote a song for you And all the things you do And it was called Yellow So then I took my turn Oh, what a thing to have done And it was all yellow Your skin, oh yeah, your skin and bones Turn into something beautiful And you know, you know I love you so You know I love you so I swam across I jumped across for you Oh, what a thing to do 'Cause you were all yellow I drew a line I drew a line for you Oh, what a thing to do And it was all yellow And your skin, oh yeah, your skin and bones Turn into something beautiful And you know, for you, I'd bleed myself dry For you, I'd bleed myself dry It's true Look how they shine for you Look how they shine for you Look how they shine for Look how they shine for you Look how they shine for you Look how they shine Look at the stars Look how they shine for you And all the things that you do #music #yellow #coldplay (at Ottawa, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnkwfAgJDa-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
