About the Miracu10us fanzine

This is first and foremost a digital zine, which means there is no inherent length constraint beyond what our time as editors permits.

That being said, while we will make every effort to include your submission, we reserve the right not to include things we find not in the spirit of this zine.

Rules

We want to keep this a safe space for all members of the fandom.

Please note that these are only guidelines.

We have zero tolerance to hate speech, bullying or threats.

LGQBTI+ community is welcome.

Please note that while we support all ships, not just the Lovesquare, we do not allow adult/child relationships or incest.

What we accept

In order for the project to be manageable, we may only take a limited number of submissions per person. In other words, please do not spam us.

We do not accept AI-generated work in any form.

Please make sure your submissions meet the following guidelines.

Writing

We do not accept character salt or bashing

All submissions should be SFW

Fanfiction

Eligibility: you must be a registered user on Ao3, as we will be adding your fic to the collection.

Please note that we will only include the title and summary (accompanied by a small number of tags) in the digital zine, with a link to the fic.

Must be less than 5,000 words.

Poetry and Personal Stories

No more than 2,000 words

Critical or Literary Analyses

No more than 5,000 words

When discussing NSFW fanworks, please make sure you do not use explicit terms.

Fanart

Digital art - resolution must be set at 300 dpi. For size references, A4 / 2480x3508px + some additional margin for a full-page art. Smaller sizes are also accepted, as long as the resolution is 300 dpi

Your artwork may be a sketch, portrait, line art, or fully rendered - it does not need to have a background

Traditional Media - please send a high-quality digital scan or photograph in good lighting

Comics

In addition to the requirements above, comics have a limit of 1 page

The maximum size is an A4 page in portrait mode

Physical

All of these must be related to Miraculous in some way, including recipes

All photos must be good quality (at least 1280 x 720 pixels, in good lighting)

Hi there! Absolutely. Just keep in mind that we’re keeping the tone of the Lila Anon submissions light and funny. We strongly advise against ones where Lila is upsetting the author. You can come back any amount of times to submit the form as well, so keep an eye out for us! 💛

if i apply to be a part of the zine (as an artist) is it guaranteed that i’ll be accepted?

Hi! "Guarantee" is a very strong word that we're hesitant to use, especially from someone who is anonymous! But we do not expect there to be a high bar for your art to be included, provided it's not completely out of pocket or against the rules. The nature of art is that it doesn't require rounds of feedback and proofreading plus coordination ahead of time with other creators to avoid issues.

From standalone art, to art accompanying essays/fics, to a collection of art in a section focused on the varied ways Miraculous fans are creative, there are a lot of ways visual art can exist in Miracu10us.

That being said, we suggest you re-read the Master Post (it is pinned at the top of our page) for information about the inclusion process. In particular, it links to this document, which you might find informative.

What information will you be collecting in the survey?

We are not collecting email addresses. We will only need your details (such as Discord username) if you are planning on contributing.

Most of the questions relate to demographics and what population makes up the fanbase. We’re curious about how you got into the show and what your favourite episodes are. You can decline to answer many of the questions. We're just interested in anything you feel comfortable answering!

I had a friend who was in the Miraculous fandom who passed away. I know they would have loved this.

Saying goodbye is always hard. If you feel comfortable, you can complete this form to honor their memory.

When is the 10th anniversary?

The Bubbler was first aired on Nickelodeon on 6 Dec 2015.

But wasn’t the first episode Stormy Weather, and didn’t it air on 15 October 2015?

Yes, but the organisers of this zine are…not that organised.

Do you plan on printing a physical copy of the zine?

Unfortunately, if we factored in the time it would take to print, there would not be enough time for the creators to send in their contributions.

The members of the Miracu10us team also decided that the task of coordinating the logistics of shipping would be too much for the founder of this event, @cardiac-agreste, who celebrated a very special Father’s Day this year!

So for now, printing is beyond the scope of this project, but you can always—

Can I print it myself?

Yes! We were just about to say that. How did you know? The digital PDF would be suitable for printing.

Bonus: If you have a few fandom friends who love the zine so very much (as we know you will!), maybe you can organise a group of friends to print it together.

Bulk orders reduce individual print costs (you may want to look at https://mixam.com or other printing services).

Why isn’t it red and green or pink?

I’m so glad you asked! We decided that pink was over-done and we wanted to try something new and eye-catching.

When we looked up the flower to celebrate a 10th anniversary, it was a yellow daffodil.

Not to mention, Chronobug’s iconic yellow Ladybug suit immediately came to mind, and what better way to celebrate the 10 year anniversary than to travel through time!

If you do join the server, please consider the server rules

1. Be kind

This is the most basic rule; a lot of the other rules are just more specific versions of this one. Remember that everyone else on the server is a person just the same as you, and they are worthy of the same respect as you. Don’t harass anyone or call them names. Don’t be mean to each other. If you say something hurtful by accident and someone points it out, try to put yourself in their shoes. We don’t want any fighting on this server—we’re here to celebrate ten years of Miraculous Ladybug!

2. No hate speech

This goes for *all* kinds of hate speech. Racism, homo- and transphobia, misogyny, ableism, fatphobia, and so on—we want everyone to feel welcome, no matter who they are or where they come from. Breaking this rule may carry especially severe consequences.

We especially want to emphasise that this server welcomes everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as people of racial minorities. It’s a dangerous world out there for many people right now, but we want to be a safe haven for you if you belong to a minority group. If you see something objectionable or bigoted that affects you, please contact a moderator about it, and we’ll do what we can to help.

3. No NSFW material

This server is open for all ages, and will very likely be checked at times by people who are in public settings like school or work. We don’t allow pornography, nudity, or excessively bloody/gory visuals on the server (if you’re unsure if something you want to post would break this rule, ask a moderator).

As a sub-point to the above rule, if you want to post something that you think could be triggering or affecting to people (such as blood, or discussions of domestic violence), make sure to spoiler tag your message (with `||these bars around your message||)` and specify why you spoilered the thing. This is one way of being kind to your fellow server users!

4. No salt/bashing of the show or the writers, or of show characters

Remember, everyone here is on the server because we’re fans of Miraculous! We don’t have to agree with every decision the show makes, but if you want to grouse about the show, this server isn’t the place for that. We’re here to express our love for what the show has done. (If you have specific criticisms, you may voice them, but we don’t want to see anything like “This show sucks” or “Marinette is a terrible person” or “I hate Thomas Astruc”.)

5. No AI-generated material

While we don’t require anyone to change their avatar if it’s AI-generated, we ask that no written material, images, music, or videos produced by AI are shared on this server. As we’re a community with lots of creators, we obviously want to promote their work more than work generated by a machine.

CONSEQUENCES

If a post (or series of posts) breaks a rule, the poster will either be asked to edit the offending material out, or it will be deleted. This may be the only consequence of a rule being broken, so don’t panic! More severe rule breaks—for example, if you post NSFW material or forget multiple times to be kind—may lead to a talking-to by a moderator. Only very severe or repeated rule breaks, particularly when it comes to hate speech, will lead to a ban from the server.

The consequences of a rule break will not be shared with anyone except the offender, in order to protect their privacy. The exception is in specific cases like harassment, where the target will also be notified. In other words, if you place a report, you are unlikely to hear from us what the consequences were—so please don’t ask to hear the specific outcome of a moderator decision.

FINALLY

Remember to have fun! We’re celebrating ten years of fandom—in fact, more than that, if we include pre-canon material—so despite the heaviness of these rules, it’s just as important to keep in mind that this is all of us sharing our love for a show we like, and for each other. If we do that, it becomes so much easier to be kind!
