Tales of Multibug & Vipercat:

Chloe’s Internship (But Really, Chloe’s Character Arc)

At first, she did not like it when Ladybug said she didn’t get the bee miraculous anymore.

Then, slowly, she began realizing why she didn’t get the miraculous anymore. She was no better than Lila, who she despised. Sure she never lied to make herself look better, but she lied to get what she wanted and to hurt others. It didn’t matter how good she was as Queen Bee (well, it mattered a little), if she wasn’t as good as Chloe how good was she?

So that’s when she found Marinette and apologized. Actually, she apologized to all of them. The ones who didn’t follow Lie-la anyways. She even tried apologizing to Sabrina, but Sabrina wouldn’t listen. 

She was the one who came up with the idea for the Superhero PR department. It regulated anything public about the heroes, issued public statements from Multibug and Vipercat, and as the icing on the cake, could override any social media or blog posts (or even whole blogs) and erase them from the internet. 

So yes, maybe she did enjoy getting to click the button to take down the LadyBlog. 

But beyond that there was a whole world of legal things she was learning, and it was actually really interesting. She advocated for herself to get an internship, and even went through an interview process. (That was when Marinette realized she was serious about making a change.)

At first it was hard balancing that with school (who knew actually applying yourself meant working harder), but she got the hang of it. Surprisingly it was Alix who helped her the most. Because Chloe struggled the most in history (and Alix literally lived in a museum), Alix offered to be her tutor.

All it had taken was one gay joke from Kim for Chloe to realize that she didn’t like Alix like that. Actually, she didn’t like anyone like that. She liked the attention, but even with Adrien she never felt like that before. 

Alix was the one who supported her through this discovery, and when she was ready Alix was the one who sat next to her when she told their friends. They were all gathered in Marinette’s room hanging out when she decided it was time. 

She had to go to work soon, but she took a breath and spit it out. 

Marinette was thrilled. She immediately tackled Chloe in a hug. 

“Chill out Nette, it’s not that big.” She scoffed (but was secretly relieved). “Luka get your girlfriend.”

Once Marinette was settled again she smiled and exclaimed, “Chloe it is a big deal! You trust us enough to share with this with us!”

Rose was beaming. “Yeah Chlo! And of course we’re happy! You’re our friend and we love you!!!” Beside her bubbly girlfriend, Juleka nodded in agreement.

That was the first time Chloe felt unconditional love.

The second time was when Marinette invited her over one evening for “no reason.”

“I’m dyeing my hair.” She announced proudly when Chloe entered her room.

Beside her was Juleka, holding an armful of tools. Kagami was there too, and so was Marc and they were painting each others nails.

She raised an eyebrow. “Nette, I could’ve called a stylist.�� 

Marinette beamed. “Juleka needs practice, she’s trying to get her certificate, and I volunteered to be a practice model.”

“Same!” Marc added from off to the side.

“Don’t look at me I am leaving with my hair the same color as it was when I arrived. I don’t feel like getting on my mom’s nerves right now, I’m in a good mood.” Kagami blew on her wet nail polish.

“Well…Juleka if you need practice I want some blue in my hair. Or black. Or something.”

From behind her bangs Juleka was beaming.

So that they in between putting foils in each others hair that little group had a lot of fun. By the next morning Marinette was doting pink hair at her tips fading out of her already brilliant blue. Marc’s hair had a rainbow peekaboo (Juleka was very proud of her work). True to her word, Kagami’s hair was the same color, but her nails sported an assortment of glitters, chrome powder, and various reds. As for Chloe, her hair…well it was certainly different. Her natural blonde faded into blue, fading into black. She now sported bangs with some pretty well done added layers. 

It was a bit of a surprise when she first woke up and hasn’t processed that she had gone through with it, but once she realized she had it was worth it. Juleka had really done a great job.

She got picked up by her driver, but as she headed to work she couldn’t help but smile to herself. Chloe knew she was a work in progress, but she knew she had found the right people to help her on the way.

Multibug & Vipercat Snippets:

Onesies

It was Halloween. Marinette had been working on commissions all of October for celebrities, and didn’t have the time to put together a costume of her own.

On Halloween morning Luka stopped by just as she was finishing up a fitting.

“Come in!” She called when he knocked on the door.

“Hey Mari, I brought you coffee and lunch. I checked your schedule and I wanted to make sure you ate.” Luka entered her room balancing a few things in his arms. 

His girlfriend was scurrying around the room, pins in her mouth and her hair in a messy bun. 

Standing in the center of the room was Clara Nightingale, dressed as a stylized nightingale. Elegantly arranged on her dress was an assortment of brown and cream colored feathers, and her wings stretched out, attached to her arms. 

“Hey Lu.” Marinette didn’t look up from her hemming.

Luka set the things down and started straightening up. Her room was covered in assorted feathers and scales (Jagged’s crocodile costume was insane), and her personal belongings were currently scattered between the floor and any available surface.

By the time Clara’s dress had been hemmed, zipped up into a carrier bag for safe transportation, and then leaving with Clara, Luka had already been there for an hour.

Marinette was still working, updating her website with new pictures. She stopped when she felt Luka’s arms wrap around her waist. It was cold out, but she kept the room warm so his sweater was tied around his waist, revealing the band of tattoos wrapped around his arms.

“Hey Mel, you can’t save the world if you don’t eat.”

“I have to update my website. And then after I have to clean…Lu! You cleaned my room for me? You didn’t have to do that!”

Luka chuckled, “Like I said, you can’t save the world on an empty stomach. It was the least I could do love.”

“I love you.” She angled her head to kiss underneath his jaw before taking the sandwich he brought and finishing her website update. 

“I love you too. You want me to let the kwamis out?”

“Can you? I think they’ve been getting antsy. All month I’ve had people in this room so they’ve had less time to stretch. Luckily it’s…HOW IS IT ALREADY HALLOWEEN! I didn’t have time to make a costume!”

Luka kissed the top of her forehead. “Shhh, finish your lunch and we’ll figure it out together.”

Once she’d calmed down, and Luka let the kwamis out of the box, he showed her the bag he’d brought.

“Now I know this isn’t a fancy costume, but we didn’t have anything planned so I thought we’d just stay in tonight and watch some Halloween movies. But, I saw these at the store the other day and I thought they were perfect.” 

Marinette peaked inside the bag and squealed. “Luka you didn’t!” She jumped into his lap to hug him. “They’re so cute! Stitch and Angel! I love you!”

Luka grinned. “Anything for you Melody.”

That evening, once her room was clean, the kwamis had a few pieces of candy and then decided to go back in the box and give them some space, and Marinette’s parents had closed up shop, they were cuddled in bed in matching onesies watching Hocus Pocus.

“I really can’t thank you enough Luka! Not just for today, but for everything you’ve done for me over the past few years. You’re my partner. I wouldn’t be able to save the world without you. I wouldn’t have been able to graduate early or start university or build my brand without you!”

Luka just shrugged and pulled her closer to him. “I love you Marinette. Someone as incredible as you just needed a little help to get where you were destined to go. I’m happy to be that person for you.”

Marinette stopped for a moment, and then paused the movie. “Luka I’m serious.” She angled herself so they were looking at each other. She bit her lip before saying, “Lu, will you marry me?”

Luka’s eyes went wide before softening. “I thought you’d never ask. And hey, if you love them so much, can we get married in these onesies too?”

Marinette’s face twisted to a horrified expression. “I just proposed to you in pajamas! This wasn’t how it was supposed to go I didn’t even have a plan! Luka I’m sorry but I’m going to have to take it back-“

He cut her off with a quick kiss. “I’m sorry Melody but you can’t take it back. I have already said yes to becoming Mr. Dupain-Cheng. When people ask we’re just going to have to say you proposed while we were wearing onesies.”

Her eyebrows furrowed. “So…we’re getting married?”

“Hell yeah we are.”

“When?”

“Hey, if you want to I’m free tomorrow.”

“No we can’t I have a meeting.”

“Thursday?”

“Can I bring Marc?”

“I was going to bring Juleka. She’s probably going to bring Rose though.”

“Well that’s okay. Marc was probably going to bring Nath.”

“Alix might as well show up with Chloe at this rate. And you know that Kagami won’t be far behind.”

“So, Thursday?”

“I can’t wait.”

“Oh and Lu?”

“Yeah?”

“There is no way we’re getting married in these onesies.”

Tales of Multibug & Vipercat:

Do We Seriously Need Another Memory Potion?

There they were. Sitting in a chair. In the  Couffaine’s houseboat. Freshly awake and staring at the six frozen teenagers in front of them.

Nath was frozen in a “WTF” pose, sitting next to Marc, who had a hand on Nath’s shoulder. Juleka and Luka had practically identical sheepish body language, while Rose was just plain shocked. Marinette however, was the only one not frozen and had a hand slapped against her face like “I can’t believe I’m surrounded by all these idiots.”

Nath gave Alix a confusedly forced smile and tried to change the topic. It was practically unanimous among the group to do so. Marinette didn’t say anything, and just proceeded to groan and mumble something about passion fruit. 

Luka cleared the snow from the gangplank while Marinette made a little breakfast for everyone. Juleka and Rose scurried around the deck to put everything back on its “proper place” (organized chaos??) while Marc and Nath got on the phone with their publisher.

The morning was filled with incoherent whisper and glances around the boat while Alix stood among them all not really caring. Wasn’t their business after all. If someone wanted to update them, they would’ve been updated but if no one wanted to fill them in that was cool too.

Once the plank was clear they zipped off anyways, they had a report to finish for school that they’d procrastinated on. With Alix off the boat, Marinette called a meeting.

“Seriously,” she started, pacing back and forth. The four heroes were squeezed together on the sofa while Nath was awkwardly watching from a chair. “There is one rule you guys! Juleka and Luka, I understand just fine. It’s unavoidable, since I picked siblings. That’s fine. But we can’t all know each other’s identities! Especially not a civilian!”

“Um..why?” Rose’s timid voice broke through the silence after a moment. “I mean, I understand why all the civilians can’t know. But Nath is obviously not the enemy, and maybe it could help us grow closer as a team. Knowing my girlfriend is the one I’m looking out for on the battlefield, and my closet friends makes me feel like I have to work even harder to keep you all safe.”

Marinette thought on it for a moment. “I actually don’t know. In the past it’s been because it could be found out by Hawkmoth, but with the new security measures being implemented by the mayor I think thinks are going to work out.” 

“Security measures?” 

“Luka and I have been working with the mayor as Multibug and Vipercat to ensure the safety of us on the job and in everyday media. We’re adjusting the line between celebrity and superhero, which has been blurred significantly in the past. Any conspiracy blogs, videos, articles, etcetera will be removed from the internet if not taken down by the owner, and they will not be permitted moving forward. It took a lot of convincing, but Chloe was actually really enthusiastic about helping us out so things are looking up.”

“CHLOE!”

“Get with the times Nathan. They’re friends now.”

Marinette chuckled lightly at the exchange. “I wouldn’t say friends yet, but Chloe apologized. Yes Nath, she’s been helping out, actually she’s started interning at the mayor’s office in the new Superhero PR department. Luka and I have helped build the program, it’s actually pretty cool.”

Luka smiled down at her and added, “It is really cool. We can talk about it later though. Melody let’s get back to the issue?”

“Right. Nath, we have to alter your memory. It’s protocol at this point, you’re a civilian it’s just not safe. It’s for your protection and the protection of everyone on the team, I can’t let you go around with this information in case something bad happens.”

Marc started to protest, but Juleka was the one who said, “What if he’s like the guy in the chair? Mari you like Spiderman! He’s like our Ned! Or like Marc’s Pepper Potts.”

Before she could respond Nath interjected. “First of all, she likes the Tobey Maguire ones the most. Second, I’m not cut out for that you guys. I trust myself enough to keep the secret as a civilian but with if I get akumatized? What if I’m the target of an akuma? The safest thing is to erase this from my memory because I want all of you to stay safe. You have to stay safe for the greater good and I don’t want to screw that up.”

“Okay. Then it’s settled. Lu, can you call the kwamis back in?”

“It doesn’t hurt right?”

Marinette and Tikki spent the rest of the morning baking a new batch of passion fruit macarons, and planned to keep them in the yo-yo as a safety measure (they were hoping it would work at least, this was uncharted territory). Luka sat nearby playing softly on his guitar to keep her calm (not that she needed it really, but she loved hearing him play). Juleka, Rose, and Marc were talking to Nath about superhero life, which wouldn’t really matter soon.

When the memory macarons were finally done, Marinette handed it to Marc and ushered everyone else out of the room. 

Marc stayed silent. He hadn’t spoken much at all in the past few hours. He held it out for Nath to take. 

“Hey, you know it’s not your fault right? It’s gonna be okay nothing is going to change.” Nath moved closer to kiss his boyfriend’s forehead.

“This is so messed up. I’m the one who should be comforting you not the other way around! I’m about to wipe this whole day from your memory.”

“Just breathe Angelfish. Remember the plan.”

Marc took a deep breath and pressed the cookie into Nath’s hand. “Go ahead.”

“I’ll see you on the other side.” He popped the macaroon into his mouth, and Marc watched as the potion took effect.

“So…is it good?”

“Yeah it’s good! You helped Mari with these?”

“She really did all the work, I just kinda stirred the filling.”

“I love them Angelfish.”

…. A few weeks later …

“Hey Marc, are you here?”

“Shit!”

“Babe? I’m coming in?”

“NONONONO…..heyyyyyyyy Nath?���

“Well, that explains the pride sticker?”

Marc reflexively hid further behind his shield. He groaned. “I’m gonna have to go to Mari now.” He murmured under his breath.

Nath heard him.  “What’s Marinette got to do with-OH SHES A HERO TOO!!!!”

“SHELL OFF!” Marc then slammed a pillow into his face before he said too much again.

Tales of Multibug & Vipercat:

Enter Vipercat!

At first, when Marinette asks to come over, he’s not suspicious. In fact, it feels relatively normal.

However, as their day today progressed, he began to grow more suspicious.

It wasn’t until she whipped out the box when he was shocked.

Until he took a closer look, he thought she was proposing. Was it wrong to get his hopes up?

But she wasn’t. Instead, she fidgeted with the box, which he recognized as a box that carried a miraculous.

By now, he was pretty much familiar with all the kwami, but when Marinette opens the box, the first thing he sees is an unfamiliar black kwami.

“Luka meet Plagg. Plagg, meet Luka. Your new holder.”

“New holder?” Luka asks suddenly. “What about Chat Noir?”

Both Plagg and Marinette make sour faces, so he decides to drop it for now. And to his surprise, Marinette pulls out another box.

This time, when she opens it, it’s the familiar bangle, with Sass appearing.

And now he’s sitting in his room surrounded by three kwamis and his girlfriend who’s in charge of all these tiny gods and more.

Wait, four kwamis.

Marinette pulls a necklace out of her pocket and slips it on, this time Mullo appearing and settling beside Tikki.

And Luka just stares.

“What’s happening?” He asks, to no one in particular.

It’s Tikki who answers. “Marinette has decided to give you the miraculous of the snake, and the miraculous of the black cat. We couldn’t think of anyone better for the task than you Luka. However, if she wanted to put out the snake, she has to put out the mouse. She’s already wielded the power of the mouse, and she’s proven she’s more than strong enough to wield two at once. You’ll be doing the same thing.”

Luka is still confused, so Marinette let’s out an amused smile, and begins to explain it again.

…

Adrien sat in his room staring sourly at the TV. Today he was supposed to go do an interview with Ladybug (and the new heroes, if you want to include them) at the TV station for a new show called: Lucky Charm, with Aurore and Mireille as cohosts.

However, his miraculous was taken away and Marinette won’t even look at him.

He was a little smug, because he knew the ladybug couldn’t be used without the black cat.

The first to arrive on the set is Jade Coquille, looking a little lost but still confident. Honeybee and Renarde Rapide arrive around the same time.

Aurore and Mireille smile at the new heroes.

“Hi! It looks like Ladybug and Chat Noir are going to be a bit late! That’s okay! We have some questions we wanted to ask you guys if that’s okay?” Aurore asked.

“That’s okay with me.” Honeybee squeaks out, the other two nodding in agreement.

It’s the pretty standard questions. What’s it like to be a hero, how is it working with Ladybug, how was it when you debuted, are you ever nervous, that sort of thing.

But it’s quick that Ladybug (literally) drops in and lands on the couch beside Renarde Rapide. Her costume looks completely different.

“Sorry I’m late.” She gives the cohosts a smile. “Someone was a little nervous.”

“Who wouldn’t be.” A voice replies, and dropping down from the ceiling and landing beside Ladybug is a new hero, wearing black with teal accenting.

He’s wearing a cat eared hood, with a black belt that was like a tail, and all the trim was teal. His mask was black on the outsides fading into teal in the middle, and his hair was mostly covered by the hood, but the blue/teal tips were showing. He had claws, but there were also elements of his costume (like the scale-like material) that seemed reminiscent of something.

“Meet Vipercat!” She proclaims proudly.

“Hold up! Is this the Vipercat that was spotted only a few days ago? And now that we have a closer look, is this Viperion? Rocking a new cat-like look?” Aurore manages to say, as Mireille is too shocked to say a word.

“And Ladybug! You look different as well!”

Ladybug’s red and black spotted costume was switched out for a black costume with red spots, with a dark gray cropped jacket (with dark pink trim) over it. She had long red boots going up to her knees with black bottoms. Similarly, she had elbow length fingerless red gloves. Her mask was half black and half red, with no spots. Instead of a yo-yo at her waist, she had a black jump rope that looked like a tail, and her yo-yo was slung over her shoulders like a satchel. Her hair was in a high red-streaked ponytail now, with a dark pink ribbon tied around the base, and she had little dark gray mouse ears with dark pink insides.

Ladybug smiled widely. “It’s Multibug now.”

If one listened closely, one might hear the screams of one Adrien Agreste.

But the rest of the interview went smoothly. Multibug answered all the questions, most of them being the ones that every clearly come to mind about the situation.

Finally, once it was over and everyone seemed satisfied with the clarifications, Multibug stood from the couch. “Bug out!” She hooked her yo-yo on something, and she was gone.

“It was great to meet everyone.” Vipercat said to the team, before extending him baton and following.

“Thanks for the interview!” Honeybee says happily, before flying away.

“Great talking to you.” Renarde Rapide was gone quickly.

“See you around!” Jade Coquille awkwardly left through the door, but soon after you could hear him skating away.

At the Liberty, Renarde Rapide came in through the window and landed on the floor of her room. At the same time, Vipercat came in through the opposite window. Neither of them noticed each other yet.

“Trixx let’s rest.” “Sass, Plagg divide.”

…

“Soooooo….this is new.”

“Yeah no kidding you idiot!”

“Don’t hit me Jul!”

“Don’t be sensitive! You, weren’t, supposed, to, reveal, your, identity!”

“Yell at me later! What are we going to tell Multibug! Jul stop hitting me!”

…

Marinette flopped onto her bed, muttering her detransformation words. Mullo and Tikki both float down and lay on her chest as she relaxes.

A second later she sits up abruptly, sending the kwamis flying.

“Adrien knows my identity!”

…

“What do you mean you both accidentally revealed your identities to each other!” Marinette was in her room, with a sheepish Juleka and Luka sitting in front of her. “Luka! No one’s supposed to know my identity either!”

“Sorry Melody.” Luka says awkwardly.

Juleka was staring wide eyed at her friend. “This is so cool.“

Marinette rubbed her temples and sighed. “And to make matters worse I gotta figure how to make Adrien forget I’m Multibug.”

Juleka looked at her in confusion. “What?”

“Adrien was Chat Noir, he found out I was Ladybug, I took away the miraculous, and he still remembers.”

Juleka mouthed “oh.”

Luka chuckled awkwardly, “Well, this is a fun situation isn’t it!”

Both Juleka and Marinette smacked him across the back of his head, and high fives each other.

“Idiot.” Juleka teased.

“You’re not excused yet.” Marinette warned.

…

“You sure about this Tikki?” Marinette held the passion fruit macaron out to examine it.

“Master Fu used it before. As long as you’ve clearly stated exactly what it is you’d like the person to forget during the spell, then the potion should be perfect. Kwamis arent allowed to read the Grimore, but I do remember the memory spell being used a few times.”

“Well, we’ll see.” Marinette boxed it up and took a deep breath. “Let’s hope this works.”

She snuck the macaron into his school bag. She watched as he took out the box in confusion. He looked at the symbol on the box, and then looked at Marinette. His eyes narrowed at Marinette, before taking out the single macaron and biting into it.

Instantly, Marinette could practically see things disappear from Adrien’s mind. She hoped the spell worked.

What she intended was to erase any memories of her being Ladybug. Adrien doesn’t remember he was Chat Noir. Chat Noir is just a nameless public icon. The akuma battles that’ve happened he witnessed, but didn’t fight in.

Who is Chat Noir?

Only three people will ever know his real identity.

The holder of the fox miraculous.

The holder of the snake and black chat miraculouses.

And the guardian. Holder of the mouse and ladybug miraculouses.

Even Chat Noir himself will never remember.

Because Chat Noir, was Adrien Agreste.

Tales of Multibug & Vipercat:

The Mandatory NathMarc Chapter (Centered Around Marc)

It’s odd at first, knowing that Chat won’t be joining them anymore. However, Chat was kind of rude and not very accepting to the new heroes so honestly, Marc wants to say “good riddance.”

It was obvious that Vipercat was a much better fit, and he and Ladybug, well Multibug now, worked much better as partners.

He rounded out the team really well. It was just, easier. If that makes more sense. It was easier for everyone to do their jobs because the new cat holder could properly do his. Well that does make sense actually.

There is one downside to being a hero, Marc supposes. That’s hiding it from Nathaniel. They write comics together, and have even written themselves (in a way) into their comics (Mightillustrator and Reverser). It wasn’t necessary a secret either that Nath had always wanted to be a superhero.

It wasn’t like Nath and Marc were together, they were just good friends. Really good friends. Was Nath even gay? Did Nath even know Marc was gay?

“Hey Nath…” Marc‘s voice trailed off as his partner looks up from his drawing.

“Yeah Marc?”

“…You know I’m gay right?”

Okay maybe that backfired a little bit. A LOT BIT ARE YOU KIDDING ME WHAT DID YOU JUST DO MARC!!!!

“…You know I’m bi right?”

Okay. Okay. OKAY. Maybe that backfired less then we thought.

“Oh.” WAIT NO CORRECT THAT DONT SAY THAT. “Cool.”

DID YOU JUST SAY COOL ARE YOU KIDDING ME MARC!

“I didn’t know that Nath.”

Yeah that’s better. That’s a normal person response. Good job Marc.

“Um yeah.” Nath let out a confused chuckle before turning back to his drawing.

What was it Marinette always told Marc? The best was to send someone into a gay panic was to go as sarcastically smooth as possible?

Okay, so maybe Marinette didn’t always say that. Or ever said that.

But she definitely said that you should tell the person. And she probably didn’t say the stuff about gay panicking. Come to think of it, maybe that was Chloé. Right Chloé. He’d have to get used to being around her more, now that she and Mari are trying to become friends (after she finally apologized for bullying Marinette for years).

“Hey Marc?”

“Yeah Nath?”

“So….so they’re doing this thing. Um, it’s at the bookstore/comic shop near the park. They’ve invited local authors to come and promote their books, and um they’ve invited us.”

“Oh really that’s cool.”

“Yeah I was just wondering if you wanted to do that.”

“Yeah sure, I think some more exposure would be good.”

“And you know, I think we can promote Rise of Vipercat at the thing too.”

“Hopefully the fans of the comic won’t mourn the loss of Chat Noir.”

I know I won’t.

“Well if Ladybug, I mean Multibug, doesn’t love him, then we have to respect that and figure out an actual reason why he’s suddenly gone and replaced.”

“…Maybe he died.”

“Marc!…Actually that’s a great idea.”

The two partners suddenly found themselves face to face, despite being on opposite sides of the room when the conversation begun.

“I-um-Nath I should probably tell you something.”

WHAT ARE YOU DOING MARC BACK IT UP BACK IT UP!

“I should probably tell you something as well.”

RETREAT RETREAT!!!!!

“You want to go first or should I?”

ABORT MISSION ABORT MISSION

“Um you can.”

SHUT UP MARC SHUT UP RIGHT NOW OR YOU’RE GONNA SAY IT.

“I-I like you Nath. A lot.”

MARC YOU IDIO-

“I like you too Marc.” Nath was crimson red, almost blending in with his hair.

Marc was pretty sure he looked the same.

“You wanna go take a walk?”

“I think that’d be nice.”

And for a little while, Marc’s very loud thoughts had stopped. It was nice. Peaceful even.

They came back later that night after Marc had gone home. (They had been at Nath’s.) He was laying down and the days events were all catching up to him.

Multibug & Vipercat AU Snippets: The Spiderman Kiss

It was a casual day, Luka and Marinette were hanging out in her room relaxing after an akuma battle.

“You know what I’ve always wanted to try?” Marinette said suddenly, looking up from her sketchbook.

Luka looked at her curiously. “What Melody?”

“The upside down Spiderman kiss.” She says matter-of-factly.

“The what?”

Marinette gawked at him. “Come here.” She drags him to her computer and searches the internet for a video clip. “It’s from the Spiderman trilogy staring Tobey Maguire. It’s iconic. Lu, you’re really uncultured.”

“Sorry?”

Marinette snuck a quick kiss before settling into her chair. “It’s okay. I still love you anyway.”

About ten minutes later, they’d watched the clip.

“So am I Mary Jane or are you?”

“You sure about this?” Luka called up as Marinette carefully slung her yoyo around a pole, and slowly descended down the side of the building upside down.

“Yeah, I’ll be okay. You’re down there to catch me.” And suddenly they were face to face.

They were in the alley beside the bakery, and it was a small alley. It served the purpose.

It was probably the first time Marinette had just been Ladybug in a long time.

“So I’m assuming I’m Mary Jane?”

“Unless you’d like to try this?”

“No you’re right.” Luka placed his hands on the side of her face and leaned in, gently kissing her.

When they parted, the sudden swinging jerked the yoyo, sending Marinette down.

Luka broke her fall.

“Told you you’d catch me.”

“This isn’t what you meant. Be glad you’re tiny and lightweight.”

They help each other up. “Spots off.” Marinette says, and the pink light envelops her, turning her back into herself. “I’d say that was successful.”

“So, does Mary Jane know Peter’s Spiderman, or does she just kiss Spiderman?”

“Let’s go watch the movies.”
