Please don't chase wild animals, not even for therian or kin reasons. Especially not native animals, who often are already facing conditions that are causing species decline. You might not think it's that big of a deal, but each species is made up of individuals, and individuals need that energy you're taking to survive. Taking off to fly and running are NOT leisurely activities, especially not since these animals know that if they falter they could die. Stress can even be enough to kill small animals, too. You also DO NOT KNOW if that animal is protecting babies or otherwise has babies around - there are plenty of stories of small animals being stranded away from their young because some dog chased the mother away. It's actually illegal in some areas to even let THERIFORM dogs chase wildlife for these reasons (and because many dogs will kill them if they catch them).

You can rest and have the luxury of not being predated upon while resting. They do not have that luxury. Be kind to your local wildlife!

I feel like the misce community is bigger than I think it is but for some reason I can't find like half of it. I know to check the misceanimalis and miscecanis tags and I also know theres misce stuff on the onegaverse tags (although most of that tag is stuff I don't want to see so I don't check it).

Is there a tag I'm missing??

Some (Pack) Alpha Things

— Casual scenting between pack mates / friends, even if you're not particularly close, letting the people in your life know you care about them.

— Vocalizations when you're amused, happy, or content around your loved ones while you're watching them play / hang out.

— Letting your friends stay close to you for protection or when you're having a conversation, and they're feeling a bit shy.

— Guiding others going through a hard time and letting them know they can always rely or come to you for support / help.

— Helping your pack / friends problem solve solutions.

— Taking the lead during a moment of crisis to keep your packmates calm and address a situation effectively.

— After a long day, being able to come home to your den and rest up for the day tomorrow. (Bonus points if your mate / partner makes the den feel more like home)

— Feeling proud you've found such an amazing pack, and wanting to protect them at all costs.

I don’t know who needed to hear this but let me make it clear

Omegas that aren’t into the cute petite aesthetic, ARE VALID

Omegas with ‘scary dog’ privilege, ARE VALID

Omegas who wear spiky collars and techware as opposed to oversized fluffy hoodies, ARE VALID

Omegas who have hobbies like boxing, karate, weightlifting etc, ARE VALID

Omegas who listen to death metal, punk rock, gothic rock, ARE VALID

Omegas with scary/intimidating/punk/goth aesthetics, ARE VALID

not every omega has to have a soft/cuddly/uwu aesthetic. You can be an omega and a fighter, you can be an omega and have scary dog privileges, you can be an omega and not be fluffy and cute.

Omega is an identity, not an aesthetic.

I'm not insanely familiar with them myself as I tend to keep to the default three for simplicities sake but the standard secondary set you'll see are just a blend of the base 3 dynamics. There might be others that I just haven't seen around that have unique things going on tho, not sure. But obviously omegaverse isn't real, it isn't going to cover all the depths of human experience, so people have come up with new ones to fill in the gaps and that's what those are. The definitions are also a little contested but here's the ones I see used most often:

Gammas are between alphas and omegas but behave more like omegas, deltas are split between beta and alpha, zetas are split between omega and beta, and sigmas are between alphas and omegas but behave more like alphas

I feel most comfortable posting this question on this blog but....... could someone explain the misceverse stuff to me? Like, I sort of understand A/B/O, I was around back when those first got really popular in fandom, but I have been away or of the loop since then so I have no idea what all this new stuff means. The new dynamics and shit.

Also, is it a roleplay thing? Kind of like furries (if I even understand that correctly)? If not, how do you know if you experience, like, ruts or heats or whatever? How do you know what dynamic you fall into?

I promise, I'm genuinely trying to understand! I've been wanting to learn about this but I haven't been able to find anything that explains anything 😭

So essentially misce stuff comes in a few different varieties. Misceverse like you asked about is more specifically a fictional a/b/o universe centered around a misces interests and lived experiences with their own instincts. This is the only real roleplay aspect but it aligns more with world building tbh. It's more just playing with toys because you can't fulfill everything that your brain is telling you it would like in real life.

Then there's the lifestyle aspect where people basically try to live as close to the omegaverse as they can get in real life, most often either as a coping mechanism or because they have stray instincts that don't quite make sense in most other contexts (this often goes side by side with autism and or alterhumanity which is often where these strong feelings that don't quite mesh with the standard human experience come from).

Heats and ruts are finicky to figure out but I know for afab misces it pretty much is just a new name for ovulation as a lot of the symptoms are similar just less severe than in omegaverse. Not entirely sure how that goes for amab misces and especially ones not on estrogen tho.

How you decide your dynamic really depends on the person but the general consensus is you go back to your instincts and look at your natural desires. If you inherently want to submit to people that usually lends to omega (note that you don't have to ACTUALLY submit to be an omega, you just have to WANT to, same for every other dynamic), if you want to take control you're probably an alpha, and if you want to play moderator to ensure everything is running smoothly you're probably a beta. Although be aware that everyone has their own definitions of what the dynamics should be, this is just what our system runs off of.

Curious if this is just a me thing but sometimes a certain scent will make me practically start purring. Originally I thought it was because I wanted it to be my scent but now that I think about it I think what I'm really feeling is wanting it to be packmates scent. It smells like home y'know? Anyone else get like this and if so what scent?

Most people barely even know what instincts feel like besides gut feelings and reflex. It's kinda like that one meme about experts forgetting what laymen are like tbh

I can't tell if I'm jealous or would find that insufferably boring. Maybe both...
