i will defend that fictional teenage girl with my life. i literally don’t even care what she did. you would’ve done it too if you were her she’s probably handling things better than you would in her shoes

re: my prev tags, this was done in 2013:
hai! i just finished watching season three for the first time and i'm going down the tumblr rabbit hole. i love this blog bc i think marissa/mischa wasn't loved by the writers/audience the way she should have been. i'm not sure i'll be able to get over this to finish the last season
Hello! Mm yeah I wouldn't recommend watching further tbh, but I'm a Marissa girl through and through. The thing about Mischa and Marissa is that they had TONS of fans. Millions, even. The show's ratings dropped by half after they offed her. There was and still is the ideas from the people behind the scenes that 1) there weren't many people who cared about Marissa and 2) if she had any fans they were teenage girls and basically who cared about them anyway. It's sick. And, essentially, the show's position ever since has been that only real fans stuck around to keep watching. So not only did they not care about them, they didn't consider them real fans. It's just the worst shit ever for the girls who kept the show going in s3 when it was reaching its worst points. Like I've said before, Marissa girlies absolutely existed online. They just got bullied off of larger platforms and created their own safe spaces. It's not like Josh was gonna patrol Marissa fansites and message boards. He read TWoP and followed critics who routinely hated Marissa and Mischa. It's just disgusting and makes me heated every time I think about it (clearly). Anyway, I'm really glad you like the blog and my girl. She needs all the love!
#like... this is who they asked to write their cash grab book#ik i have a definitely unhealthy hyperfixation with this shit but hellooooo#no wonder MB didn't want to sit down with him#also funny how 10 years ago JS mentioned cast chemistry being an issue in late s3 but he hasn't said it lately lol#btw i've compared marissa to logan echolls before and AS is someone rob thomas also wanted to appease...#like this man has hated on my favs for 20 years omg#alan sepinwall#josh schwartz#quote#325 discourse#at some point i'll go retag other posts with this kind of content. tho like i always say all this shit is connected#i get hung up on JS blaming s3 ratings on marissa?? the johnny storyline was ass but marissa girls hung ON#and that doesn't even begin to tackle how they co-opt cisco to being volchok

Did they not get the memo that teenage girls dominate pop culture lmao they literally determine what is popular at any given time and drive fandom traffic by a wide margin. Like it's not just misogynistic it's stupid lol
I have absolutely no clue. JS is a man who was like proud of not watching the successful teen shows that came before his. He'd gloat about it actually. He'd be like "our show is more intellectual and funny than wordy Dawson's Creek" and it's like sure okay but also DC went on for 6 seasons and achieved syndication while yours died a quick death in 3.5 years. There's also this thread that I never see mentioned (because I don't engage outside of my bubble, probably) that this show appealed to young men and families because of the Cohens' and while that's absolutely true, and part of the magic formula that worked in the early days, it's not everything. So whenever I hear "it's a show about two brothers" or "it's a show about a family" I literally know that's code for "shut up about Marissa, it wasn't about her".
And really this shit goes so much deeper because these people behind the scenes deeply resented MB for her ever-mounting fame even though they benefitted from it in the same breath. So they love her public persona in the early days until they can't control it and then make her life so much harder because they're pissed at her. It's so wrong and upsetting.

love your page soooo much, are you on any other social media too?
Thank you!! And no, not really. At least not for a fandom or this fandom in particular.
ETA: For a minute I did have a Discord server in like 2023 but I haven't been on it in a while.
#ask#anonymous#this site is dying but the real ones will never leave#and frankly i don't have the desire to interact with this fandom in a larger sense lol. i like my safe space#marissa girls excluded from that ofc

Is Rachel a mean girl?
Hmm. I feel like she's careless and immature but she's good at her girl next door schtick that people like Josh and Alan S find very charming so it's also very calculated and self-serving. I purposefully have limited recent knowledge of her because I don't care about her but her vibe is very ~one of the guys~ and will talk shit about you behind your back but will claim to be a victim if you do the same. So... yes?
