Once a staple of gossip rags and red carpets, our favorite star of The O.C. is all grown up and thriving. Barton, 39, was spotted working the red carpet at Filming Italy 2025 on Thursday in Santa Margherita di Pula, Italy, and we were thrilled to see the actress looking happy and healthy.

Wearing a one-shoulder dress in a soft cream color, the gown was tied at both the shoulder and the waist. Barton's hair was tied back loosely, with soft wisps coming forward. She completed the outfit with delicate jewelry, sporting just a bracelet and ring.

Being thrust into the limelight at such a young age challenged Barton, who said she was never “fully prepared for that level of fame." Constantly hounded by paparazzi, Barton wasn't equipped to deal with that level of scrutiny, and essentially crumbled under the pressure.

"You can go to therapy every day for the rest of your life," Barton told The Sunday Times. "But there's just a certain amount of trauma [from] all that I went through, particularly in my early 20s, that just doesn't go away overnight."

The incessant analysis of her body from bloggers at the time was incredibly damaging, as well.

“People feel so entitled to you and your body and your image. It’s a strange feeling. It’s strange,” she added. It led to significant depression and anxiety.

While Barton has done significant work to find peace in the present day, she admits that these days, she "really would much rather be anonymous." Luckily, we still get to see her rocking the screen on occasion!

It also looks like she has a very fulfilling life in her off-hours, as well. On Memorial Day weekend, she shares a carousel of fun photos that include everything from canoeing to cuddling with dogs, which we're definitely in favor of.

Do you have a theory on what happend between M&B in s3 they seem pretty close at first but things changed at the end

I have a lot of theories but not super comfy sharing those on here, mostly because they're heavy on speculation. So I'm sorry!! But in general I think there's a reason the chemistry is very good in the beginning of the season (and why RM are given such good material tbh) and why by 315 you can tell they'd rather die than be in scenes together. And then by 325 Ben says in the book that they weren't speaking. So basically some sort of fallout before 315 I'd say.

Ha. You're not the only one. They were so popular that the storyline was extended longer than it was intended. I'm just not really a fan for a lot of reasons 🤷‍♀️
