"Le Blues du businessman" is THE song of Starmania for me, it embodies the unexplored gray areas of Zero Janvier but especially the extent of Starmania on all of Monopolis, even a politician who is already a kind of "star" in this world is dissatisfied with his lifestyle and secretly wishes that the public perceives him as the opposite of the ferocious politician he has become

Favourite scene :

Unfortunately not used enough in all versions of the show " le rêve de stella spotlight " interior monologue or untouchable trio in the 1988 version ? For me it's perfection

The 1988 plot makes more sense to me

I discovered Starmania with the 1988 album and cast, but it's clearly the 2023 masterpiece that stole my heart

The disappearance and successive reappearance of Gourou Marabout and l'Extraterrestre who deserves to appear more often, however I am rather in favor of the suppression of " Sex shops , cinéma porno " which is perhaps a little too experimental for me

I remove " Besoin d'amour " and " Nos planètes se séparent "

But I add " Le rêve de Stella ( trio version) " and " L'air de l'extraterrestre " (the 1980 Quebec version)

I've always been frustrated by the lack of symbolism in her death ...

First Starmania you encountered and what you thought :

As a child, I only knew the cult songs played on the radio, without knowing that they came from a show

Then in 2017, I came across the 1988 album and I immediately fell in love with this version, It was when I arrived on Tumblr a year ago that I really took the time to explore all the existing versions ( especially the Quebec versions, which I was totally unaware of )

Starmania you watched / listened to the most recently? (Any medium/platform) :

The 1979 live album combined with the 1988 studio album

( I took a huge amount of time to sort everything out properly on my Deezer / Spotify playlist of French Musicals )

If you were in the show, which character would you want to play :

I am clearly Marie Jeanne ( the other female characters are too difficult for me to sing or play anyway )

If somebody told you that they'd seen the original and remembered it perfectly, what would you want to know :

( he would probably be a big mythomaniac but just in case )

If you could time-travel, which version would you like to see live :

Even if it's not my favorite, the original from 1979 just for Daniel Balavoine

Zero wants a trophy wife and Stella wants to be immortalized ... it's a toxic relationship

Is Sadia a double-agent from the start or initially sincere :

For me she is an impulsive teenager in rebellion, she co-created les étoiles noirs to make herself feel like she belongs to something big and controversial, maybe she had already set her romantic / sexual sights on Johnny ? I take her betrayal of her own gang as a stupid and angry response to Johnny's rejection, again she's a teenager ! she does shit in a world that encourages her to use violence to get what she wants

What's your headcanon about Sadia's gender :

Since the first version Sadia should have been played by a man !!!

🤩11 Favorite Starmania cover by a non Starmania artist. I listened to a variety of covers and to be honest never liked any too much until I came across this one.

I really enjoy its energy and power and that it sounds desperate without being tearful.

3. Favorite storyline: For me Sadia -Zero is the most captivating and mysterious one. Are they related? Why is she helping him? Why does he trust her at all? 13. Favorite death of Cristal…

It’s a hard question for me for I would prefer her to survive. Probably being pushed off Zero’s tower is the most symbolic - she wanted to destroy it, but getting destroyed herself. I also think it could be very dramatic if Johnny shot Cristal by accident or if she was shot trying to protect or shield him. Yes, I like the second idea even more…

23. Does MJ die at the end?

Definitely yes. She goes in search of light through underground tunnels. Isn’t it the typical memory of those who experienced clinical death? Light at the end of the tunnel …

🙂 10 - A favorite or most hated change

I like the fact that “Un enfant de la pollution” was trasferred to Ziggy. I am not sure if it was already in 1980, but in 1986 Jean Leloup sounded so awfully Ziggy trying to sing it 😅

I also like that “metro-bulot-dodo” was removed from “SOS”, but I dislike the changes in Monopolis re time markers and verbs - I saw the discussions and never understood them. 17 - If I could sing, act or both I would try the alien 👽

24 - ZJ and Stella relationship is 100% PR to me. He measures his love life by body count of secretaries. He has no time or desire, or even experience for a relationship. Perhaps, even sleeps 2 hours only. As for Stella - it might be flattering for her to get attention but I don’t believe in any feelings there.

Question 6: Favorite Johnny/Cristal and/or Marie-Jeanne/Ziggy duos?

For Johnny-Christal I am predictable: Norman Groulx and Martine St-Clair. However, I wish I could see Martine St-Clair with Robert Leroux. He seemed to be quite mature for Johnny and he was complaining Martine was too young and inexperienced. That I think could give special vulnerability for Cristal. In 1988 she was a star in Quebec and behaved like a star with Johnny.

As for MJ- Ziggy - my heart belongs to Rejane and Hantson. They are flirty without being vulgar. But again, who I would like to explore is the duo Marie Carmen and Jean Leloup. They seem absolutely incompatible to me, so I am curious how that worked out in 86.

Question 12: If I were remaking the show I would add the alien's song and Tango! And the Tango would have to be for 3 voices!

Question 22: I would have never ever eaten anything in the Underground Cafe. I would even be scared to go there. 😅
