HELP A FAMILY OF 8 EVACUATE GAZA
Mohammad ( @ahmed0khalil ) is only 19 years old and has shared just a glimpse into his suffering and fear during the last year. How he has wondered if he will become another number on our screens, and feels like the world has abandoned the people of Gaza.
This isn't even the first time Mohammad has experienced such devastation. At only 19, he has lived through MORE THAN 6 WARS.
Mohammad is reaching out to us for help and I hope you will take the time to read his story.
Mohammad Khalil is from the Shuja'iya neighbourhood, in the east of Gaza city. He started this campaign for his family at the request of his little brother Ahmed after losing their home and livelihood due to the genocide.
In 2014 his family home was destroyed while they were inside the house, forcing them to flee and leave it all behind. The area was bombed more than once.
Mohammad says that for 15 years, their days and nights have been filled with the sound of drones and has caused them a lot of fear. There are no clean or safe places left in Gaza.
Mohammad has shared with me was like on 7 October 2023; how at 6am the ground shook like continuous earthquakes due to the intensity of the explosions around them.
More than 15 bombs, weighing at half a ton each, fell near his home.
After the bombings, they could not evacuate to the center of the city due to flames and explosions. Mohammad tried to connect to the internet but the Carmel Tower was bombed right in front of him, and he injured his foot. He couldn't move and lay on the ground until medical teams arrived to save him.
He has an older brother Fathi who is blind, a sister Aya, a younger brother Anas, brother Abdullah who is autistic and blind, and younger brother Ahmed.
Ahmed had just started school, but like every child in Gaza, his childhood and right to education have been stolen by the genocide.
Fathi also suffers from a chronic illness, and on one occasion he suffered severely and they couldn't call an ambulance due to no network availability. Their father had to run 2.5 kilometres just to find help.
They have often experienced this dangerous situation, where internet is cut off and they can't contact anyone or receive any news. This causes a lot of anxiety.
When on their way to Deir al-Balah, Mohammad witnessed 6 massacres. This has severely impacted his mental health. Can you even begin to imagine?
Mohammad has stood in line for bread for at least 10 hours to get 30 loaves, and waited three hours to get 25 liters of clean water for his family of 8 people.
They are now living in one of the overcrowded UN schools, surrounded by diseases and garbage. There are also those who were martyred and cannot receive proper burials. This is what they see every single day.
Mohammad fears that every message he sends could be his last. He wants to get his family to a safe place outside Gaza, but high costs make this difficult. They must raise €50,000 to evacuate everyone in the family.
As of queue, they have raised €5,899 / €50,000
They only need €101 to get to €6,000!!!!! There hasn't been a donation in 4 HOURS!!!!!!
This is only a small step in providing them some hope. Can you spare as little as €5 to help them get there?!
I would like to end this with a message directly from Mohammad:
I hope I can tell you more of my story before the internet cuts off again, but if I can’t, just know that this is my life, and the life of all the children in Gaza whose educational futures have been stolen.
Please do not hesitate to donate, follow Mohammad's blog and support them in every way you can.
