ponyboy in this au has just moved up to duluth, a large shipping town on the shores of lake superior, and is desperate to find some purpose for himself in the new restlessness of an unknown city.

johnny in this au has been in duluth for years now, a runaway from somewhere far off. he’s been on the streets since he arrived, and has survived by befriending some good people and living off the wilderness that lies outside and within duluth. he only realizes how little will to live he has once ponyboy shows up and starts preaching about a ‘new life’.

“I’m not saying you should,” Tim continued before Darrel could let loose what would no doubt be a very tiresome, self righteous tirade, “but you could. You sure as hell wouldn’t be the first man around here to do it. Hell Curtis, they aren't even your kids."

I think everyone should make headcanons of old outsiders actually

modern day curtis and shepard gang headcannons? Like they're old men and women

Hi anon! Sorry this took so long I'm a certified human disaster and my life is kind of in shambles rn

ANYWAY modern day old outsiders headcanons:

-First of all I did some quickmaths, so Darry would be 79 in 2024, Two-bit and Tim Shepard would be 78, Steve would be 76, Soda would be 75, and Curly & Angela Shepard would be 74, and Ponyboy would be 73

-Realistically atp Two would have died of like liver failure but I'm gonna try not to make this a bummer so lets say my man is in a nursing home and spends all day flirting with the nurses and the ladies in the home (who all adore him)

-Lbr Darry would absolutely be the grumpiest of old men (him and Two are in the same home) but he also tells the best stories and is secretly a big softie so all the young, nervous nurses like him the best

-Tim Shepard would rather be dead than in a nursing home and he says as much to anyone who ever suggests he needs one. Angela keeps trying, because he's barely mobile (old injuries + arthritis) but he refuses. Angela knows it's because Sylvia's grave is in the graveyard down the block from there, and Tim doesn't want to leave his best friend, even though she's been dead for years he still can't leave her

-Angela lives alone. Having grown up in a turbulent house and worked almost every day of her adult life she enjoys her solitude. Nowadays she takes her fighting spirit to Monday night bingo where she CAN and WILL still strangle you Betty Anne if you try callin' bingo again when we both knows you aint got it-

-Steve and Sodapop live together at the old Curtis house. The neighbours kids have it rough so they come around a lot. Soda bakes cakes when he's got the energy, and Steve has mellowed a bit in his old age and spoils the kids rotten even when lecturing them and basically they act like grandfathers to these two little delinquent kids, who in turn do chores around the house so Soda and Steve can KEEP living there and don't have to go into a home or something

-Curly Shepard and Ponyboy Curtis live together, in a little apartment (Pony moved back to Tulsa when he retired, and Curly followed him like he always does. It's a little inside joke of theirs, since ever since they got together they've never been apart for more than a few days). Neither of them will admit it, but Curly's mind isn't what is used to be, the result of all those head injuries when he was younger finally catching up to him, and it kills Ponyboy a little to see the confusion in his eyes and the way he gets agitated when he can't remember something.

-The Curtis brothers all do that thing where they're always on the phone with one another

-Tim, Angela, and Curly all go out for breakfast together on Saturdays

-Tim has a walking stick and uses it to whack people with

-Two-bit manages to talk one of the nurses into smuggling him extra pudding cups with his dinner and the other residents (including Darry) get real up in arms about it

-Steve and Soda have tv shows that are on at a certain time each week that they steadfastly refuse to miss even though the neighbour kids have tried convincing them to get a netflix account and showeed them how to use the DVR so they could record them

-Steve complains about modern cars and their 'new fangled technology with their screens and electric engines' not being as good as the cars from when he was young

-Darry and Ponyboy compete to see who can get the wordle in the fewest guesses and they both sulk if they lose

You’re so right because where are they getting this from, who exactly do they think will attack them?

I’m pretty sure I’m the only one that draws them white (as far as I know) and literally NOBODY has ever said anything about it to me, let alone harassed me over it 😭

Also yeah, I would bet that if anyone gets harassed, it’s probably the people with poc headcanons and not the ones making them white???

unpopular opinion but some of the people on the confession account are SOOO fucking annoying

the fact there are MULTIPLE confessions saying “im scared to draw the shepards/johnny because people will get mad if i dont make them dark enough 😭😖😔”

ive gotten hate asks bcs of my hcs saying that those characters are white even tho i think otherwise, but ive NEVER seen someone get mad for not making a character “dark” enough

ive seen people make the shepards white and ive seen them as so many other races. same goes for johnny

FACIAL HAIR HEADCANONS!!!!!!

Darry

- beard that never seems to grow past a mild fuzz

- Disappointed, but he's only twenty, it takes most guys till 35 ti be able to really grow full facial hair

Soda

- he gets a bit of a mustache, but that's it.

- He hates it so much it's not even funny it throws his whole look off

Pony

- baby face

- He is very excited anytime it seems like he might get some thought. Darry and soda think it's funny

Twobit

- canonly gets sideburns so...

- Also I'll say he gets a thick mustache too just cause. He doesn't like it though because food always gets caught in it even when he's trying to keep it clean

Steve

- can only grow very sparse hairs

- He gets so mad when people bring it up. He thinks he looks silly so he shaves it off and hopes for more luck next time

Dallas

- can grow a little bit of beard (canonically had stubble when he went to the church) but he shaves it because it makes him look like his dad

- He doesn't like the facial hair even disregarding that, it's uncomfortable and very scratchy

Johnny

- if he could grow facial hair HE WOULD. He hates being seen as a little kid if he could get a mustache he FUCKING WOULD

- he is stuck with pony in the baby face club (he envies curly and hates him a little for being able to almost grow a mustache)

Tim

- he has to shave every day or else he looks like Jesus. Like full beard and mustache

- Once he was sick for a week and didn't shave, he was a whole different man

- He also gets a slight unibrow, and while he doesn't really care, angela chases him with a wax strip any time it becomes slightly visible

Curly

- Gets a bit of a mustache every once in a while, but Tim and Angela bully him until he shaves it off (maybe has to shave like two times a month)

- It breaks his heart everytime (but he does lord it over pony and says it makes him more of a man)
