I don’t have many pictures posted of the pale girl... I think it’s because I blew out the exposure on most of them! 🤣 She matches minifee! I need to take some more pictures of that. However (of course!) it’s been such a busy week at my day job and my fiancé is sick with bronchitis. I totally agree with this. I think it can be easy for people to say “Well they don’t need to pay for an artist/R+D cost so it’s cheaper.”  But once you start making dolls it really puts it into perspective how cheap recasts tend to be.  When I hire a caster to cast my dolls, it is *more expensive* to pay them than the cost of an average minifee recast. Not as in my markup.  The price a caster has chosen to charge that considers their equipment, materials, the safety of their workers and their own profit on labor is more than a recaster.  Yet the recaster may duplicate plaques, pays for elastic, hardware, and assembly, pays for packaging and pays for shipping the product to the customer. Their costs are more than the caster even if they can do it cheaper than I can by buying in bulk. So where do they cut costs? My guess is almost certainly the cost of labor or employee safety/pay.

Fair and ethical side to pro-artist

So, I like, as often as I can, to buy my food local, only buy meat when it’s on sale, and buy clothes and other things I need at thrift shops. I consume as things as ethically as it’s possible with my disability income. I don’t think it makes me better than others, but I like doing it and I think people should do it as much as they can!

And one thing I like about bjds, is that I can do just that! I know when I buy a doll, I’m supporting an artist, or supporting member in my community. I know couple of people make that doll, and that they need the money I give them. Same goes to face-ups and clothes I buy from etsy. Money goes to small businnesses and private people. Buying bjds is pretty ethical, I think!

…unless you buy recasts.

Not only you’re stealing art, which you should know by now, but you also have no idea how they’re made. You don’t know how much money people making it will get, and how safe their enviroment is. Resin hues are toxic! How do you know people aren’t harmed making your bootleg Fairyland Chloe? It’s definitely not artists making them, because recast companies have no artists. You might be giving money to slavers who exploit people.

I understand having low income, BELIEVE ME, but that’s no excuse. You’re taking money from people who deserve it and who are not rich corporations, (even if you’d like to pretend so) and giving it to straight up evil people.
