When I was in highschool, we had a teacher we nicknamed ‘Voldemort’ (Note: I don't know why we called him that but it stuck) One time in English class one of the boys decided to draw a dark mark on his arm as a joke. He decided to press it as joke. Then the teacher we nicknamed Voldemort walked into the room. Me and my friend Jack were sent outside for laughing so hard.

“Sure!” Scarlett smiled, seeing that she was a bit reluctant to go to her own table and her own cabin. She knew that she would see the other campers around camp but she had just gotten used to the Hermes camp, even if it was quite crowded.

As one of the oldest campers, Amelia got a special seat at the head, next to the head of Hermes. She whispered something to them, nodded, and motioned to Scarlett. “You can sit near in the grass, with some of the younger kids. And Butch’s helped gather up most of your stuff and moved it to Poseidon, but he’ll need help with some of the smaller things that might not be yours? Sound good?” 

Scarlett nodded and smiled, sitting on the grass with some of the younger kids. “Thanks.” She said smiling.

Amelia whispered to the Hermes cabin leader, frowning, and after a while they just gave up on whatever they were arguing over. “Let’s just agree to disagree,” Amelia concluded, turning back to Scarlett. “So, how does it feel to know who your dad is?”

Scarlett nodded and smiled, sitting on the grass with some of the younger kids. "Thanks." She said smiling.

“So uh,” Amelia dished herself some grub and grabbed one of the fancy magic cups that the camp used. She scraped some food into the fire, as per custom, and muttered something to her unnamed mother. “So Poseidon then, huh? That’s pretty cool. I can help you move your stuff if you need to, if you’ve got any in the cabin. And uh, if you don’t mind, I might keep the bedroll? I mean, you’ll have a right proper bed, so you won’t be needing it, and I hear that Tyson’s gonna bring another camper soon, so…”

Scarlett piled some food onto her plate. “Sure.” She nodded. “I like Tyson, he’s cool.” She scraped some food into the fire, muttering something to Poseidon.

Amelia rolled her eyes. God, these claimed kids could get annoying. Hopefully Scarlett wouldn’t be one of them. “Uh, if you want, you can still sit at the unclaimed table. I mean, it’s crowded. I dunno if we can actually sit at it, but we can at least hang by it?”

She had never known her dad, her mother had always said ‘he was lost at sea or he was far away’ her mother had never said that her father was dead but would never give her a straightforward answer, so Scarlett was left wondering who he was. Now she knew.

Skylar nodded, smiling shyly at Amelia. Even though she was a daughter of Poseidon, she was still the shy 14 year old who first came into camp. “Let’s go.” She said.

“Right. It’s grub time.” Amelia marched herself back to camp, pausing to help pick up other campers on the way, and by the time they reached the pavilion she’d gathered a small following of bewildered, slightly concussed and injured capture-the-flag players. “Looks like it was a brutal match,” she mumbled. “Wish I hadn’t been stuck on guard duty.”

Skylar nodded, smiling shyly at Amelia. Even though she was a daughter of Poseidon, she was still the shy 14 year old who first came into camp. "Let's go." She said.

Scarlett blushed. “Thanks!” she smiled brightly. “I didn’t think I was that good..” A few other campers came to congratulate Scarlett on the flag.

“Well, you got the flag. You basically won single handedly, as far as I could see.” Amelia frowned behind Scarlett’s back. Of course she got picked. Everyone got picked at some point or another, except Amelia. “We should all go back to base. Charon will be worried if the horn was called and no one showed up.”

Scarlett blushed. "Thanks!" she smiled brightly. "I didn't think I was that good.." A few other campers came to congratulate Scarlett on the flag.

Scarlett nodded. “I know, I just had fun hanging out with you. I guess it won’t be so cramped now..” Scarlett was kinda reluctant to leave the cabin. “And hey, you never know, I might get a half brother or sister at some point.” 

Amelia bit her cheek. “Are you sure about that? I mean, kids of the big three are pretty rare. But who knows? Hey, maybe even I’ll be claimed some day! Wouldn’t that be something?” She pat one of the kids on the back. “Hey, it’s alright,” she told him, “maybe next time! And Scarlett, nice job with the flag. I’ll have to pick you for my team more often!”

“Well, I mean, I probably wouldn’t. You’ll have a cabin all to yourself now, and Hermes is so crowded!” Amelia smiled a little, and helped one of the fallen campers to their feet. “I mean it’s not like you won’t see me around. I barely leave anymore. So I’ll be here when you need to see me.”

Amelia watched another kid leave her. Posiedon. That was unfortunate.

At least, Amelia thought so. She’d been here a while longer than most campers, and had seen a lot of them come and a lot of them die. The kids with strong parents were usually some of the first to go, and knowing didn’t make their odds any better. “Hey, Scarlett,” Amelia said, gathering up the blunt weapons of campers who’d fallen by the flag, poking them with her foot. She didn’t meet Scarlett’s eyes, or even turn to look at her. “Congrats! You’ve got a dad now! Heh.” She glanced over her shoulder and helped one of the injured kids up. “That’s pretty sweet. And he’s one of the big ones, too!”

It was a normal Saturday for Scarlett. She and her older brothers didn't really do much, they just played video games and watched TV. Scarlett eventually got bored and went to go out exploring in the woods nearby.

She basically knew her way around the woods, since she and her brothers had been exploring since they were kids. Scarlett took her phone and three bottles of water along with a few snacks.

She told her older brothers, closed the door and then set off into the woods. She looked around as she walked, thinking of the memories spent in the woods with her brothers and her cousins. She looked around, noticing the woods looked different.

"Odd.. I could've sworn there was a fallen tree nearby.." Scarlett muttered. She looked around again, thinking how odd this was. "Have I discovered a new part of the woods?" That was impossible though, she was pretty sure that she and her brothers had explored all of it, since it wasn't a massive forest. It seemed bigger than it was though.

"Hmm.." Scarlett muttered. She heard a horse's neigh in the distance and a gallop of hooves.
