HAPPY 4TH OF JULY INDEPENDENCE DAY! Because today is American Independence Day.
Independence Day is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence of the United States on July 4, 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subject (and subordinate) to the monarch of Britain and now united, free, and independent states. The Congress had to declare independence two days earlier, on July 2, but it was not declared until July 4.
Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies , in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the National Day of the United States.

Is a day really 24 hours? Why is a day 24 hours long on earth? We know that our clocks show 24 hours. However this is not true exactly.
Actually a day is 23 hours 56 minutes 4 seconds. In fact, the mismatch amounts to several minutes every day. One complete rotation of the Earth on its axis a 360 degree spin. this mistake of 4 minutes because the Earth must rotate more than 360 degree. The result is that one complete cycle of sunlight and darkness - one day - represents a rotation of about 361 degrees, not 360 degrees. Although a year consists of 365 and a quarter days, the Earth actually spins 366 and a quarter times during a year. From the standpoint of sunrises and sunsets, one complete spin is negated.

BOOMERANG
The boomerang is thought of as an Australian icon and has been used for thousands of years as an essential tool in the arsenal of a hunter.
The boomerang was only used by men. While in today's world women use boomerangs as much as men do, it wasn't always like that. In fact, due to the culture of the Aboriginals, the men were the hunters and the women were responsible for gathering other types of food and making needed repairs. As a result, women did not use boomerangs at that time.
Boomerangs weren’t just used to hit animals.Boomerangs were used to hunt in many different ways. Some boomerangs were built to circle more than once. This meant that the Aboriginal hunters could get close to some birds, then throw the Boomerang high in the air where it would circle multiple times. The hunters would then mimic the sound of a bird of prey, which would fool the birds into thinking they were under attack from a predator. They would then flock together and fly low towards the hunters who could then attack them.
A Guinness World Record was set by David Schummy in 2005 who threw a boomerang 427 metres. A boomerang was used to set a Guinness World Record with a throw of 427.2 metres (1,402 ft) by David Schummy on 15 March 2005 at Murrarie Recreation Ground, Australia.

How Did America Get Its Name?
Rodney Broome says 'Amerike', as the continent was known in the 1500s, was not inspired by Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci, as previously thought.
Instead he claims the country was named after Richard Amerike - the sponsor of John Cabot's voyage to the New World.
Broome's book, Amerike, The Briton Who Gave America its Name, suggests that America was named by John Cabot in 1496 - years before Vespucci's voyage.
