I guess I expected the Castle to be a lot more intense, but all it’s been is fun! I’m so grateful for how amazing this job is turning out to be. It’s truly a relief. It makes one part of moving less intense.

Yesterday I had my first day at the castle.
After a comical amount a paperwork, I am now a state employee and am able to get to work atop the hill!
For some reason I just didn’t think we would be allowed to drive up there. In fact, I’m a little intimidated since I’ll be carpooling for a hot second. It was so worth it though.
We checked out the employee area, and even saw the employee library! A whole library to just nerd out! I’m so excited! Truly.
They gave us a mini version of the grand rooms tour since that’s the first tour we will all be doing in a couple of weeks. I already knew so much and still had the experience from August fresh in my mind. I loved hearing about how to make a tour your own and how to waste some time and how to pick up the pace. I’m always so confident about these types of things until I go to do it.
The people I’ll be learning with are just so nice. I am on the younger side, which I always love. I love having people to look up to in these kinds of settings. And I love having the wisdom available from people older than me.
Stick around and I’ll be sharing my experience on being a grad student and becoming a guide at Hearst Castle!
